Werlein or Bottas to replace Rosberg I think. The long shots are Alonso and Hulkenberg, but not out the window. Renault and Williams need money, so a transfer isn't past them. But I hear Wolff doesn't like Hulkenberg much. Renault don't need money. They're rich af If you don't believe Renault has enough money think of the Sainz deal with Red Bull. Free engines for Carlos Sainz. One season worth of engines is worth over 30 million. If Renault was low on budget they would've never offered something like this.

Joe Saward's money is on Valtteri Bottas going to Mercedes.
I'd support this.

Joe Saward's money is on Valtteri Bottas going to Mercedes. I'd support this. After reading the article it makes sense as I had been thinking Perez would be the most logical choice with him having such a strong season however I had forgotten about his sponsorship money... Still feel like he would deserve the drive more.

Bottas has done well considering the car would have been built for Felipe - thanks to Smedley. So he has had his results somewhat hindered.
Remember, he finished 4th in 2014 behind Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo. That's no fluke.

Remember, he finished 4th in 2014 behind Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo. That's no fluke. Bet The Hulk is crying right now. If he had waited he would've surely been given the seat. Top driver, German so it helps with brand exposure, good team driver. Not his fault, how would he know Rosberg would retire. I'd like to see Sainz. Probably the best driver they could poach on the cheap, people seem to forget he was neck and neck with Verstappen for Kvyat's seat when rumours started. He's a top driver, and I don't see RB standing in his way considering they've got two top drivers that are young, they don't need him really, he won't be promoted for a very long time at least.

I like that Mercedes have decided to not take action against Hamilton... It was very unlikely anyway but once Rosberg retired they effectively had no choice unless they really wanted to piss off their only driver. On Hulkenberg the BBC mentioned that Wolff isn't that keen on him so maybe he wouldn't have gotten the drive anyway. Finally just wondering endersai what is the source for Williams building their car to suit Massa? Its not something I've heard although I imagine that there is plenty of F1 gossip that I miss. I know Massa and Smedley are friends but Bottas was the number one driver and younger so it doesn't seem like the most sensible decision.

I would've never thought that possible...
Not after how he announced his retirement and with the reasons he gave. Good for Bottas. And actually good for the fans, as Bottas is probably the only available driver that can put some pressure on Hamilton.

Sad news indeed. A true gentleman driver is leaving the stage. However, his reasoning and motivations demand the highest respect in my eyes. He probably knew it was highly unlikely for him to ever be champ again, It must truely hurt that your adored hero, who will never know that you exist -or as a matter of fact even truly care, has been bested by a lesser. I see it the other way around, Nico Rosberg has given the chance to prove his critics wrong a pass. Probably because he -like a koala in the rain doesn't give a fuck Schumacher is driving again? Sorry for a very late response, but you're just implying things. If you do reply, no need to assume things to "come at me." Was just giving my opinion. I am neither a Hamilton nor a Mercedes fan.

Bottas confirmed at Mercedes. I will stop disliking this team now. Valtteri is an excellent driver and I'm glad he's in a car worthy of his talent.

I'm American and I don't know a thing about Formula 1. Assist?
Aside from 2000s F1 cars are "proper" sounds, Verstappen is (from my collected knowledge regarding everyones attitude towards him) is a scumbag, Lewis Hamilton fell off the face of the Earth (in terms of performance) after a few seasons, and Vettel joined Ferrari
...thats about it
