So I'm not an original Doom fan, but seen the campaign trailer and was like played the early access beta which was a bit meh, what are your opinions on it, are you excited for Doom, or are you disappointed by it via the beta. I'm not sure I'll be playing the multiplayer a lot, but am hoping the campaign is epic! and Snap Map keeps me coming back to play single player custom maps.

Didn't play the beta but it doesn't look great. I watched a lot of reviews and they boiled down to "If an arena shooter was modernized with influences from modern FPS games like Halo and CoD, which are basically arena shooters themselves, just slower. I played the Unreal Tournament 4 pre-alpha though, it that looks great. Just like the old ones. And it's free.

Yeah I think that's relating to the multiplayer which you are right with the modern FPS type gameplay, I'm looking much more forward to the campaign, I'm hoping that keeps to the original roots of the franchise, maybe with an added modern twist.

Gotta add that I think the demons are bad ideas. I hate being killed by random bullshit in games, like mortars or UCAVs in Battlefield, killstreaks like helicopters or airstrikes in CoD, and all that stuff that you can't really prevent. Seems like a lot of MP matches will end up being a game of luck to see who gets the demon at the best time. What I love about CS is that every death is either you doing something wrong or the enemy being more skilled than you, which you don't really get in many other games. HALO is pretty good with that, at least the old ones that I played a ton, but I suck at console shooters.

Doom is seriously fun. Great controls, great level design, technically superb with excellent graphics and sound design, awesome metal and satanic aesthetics with tonnes of fun gore, tonnes of upgrades and secrets to find in between the relentless action, and most of all the combat is just joyful in how fast and tight it is. My word, it's good. I haven't enjoyed a first person shooter's campaign this much in.... I dunno? A decade? Probably since Half-Life 2! I am serious.

The single player campaign is very fun, I'm still getting used to it. With my style of play favouring modern shooters it's taken me a while to integrate that run and gun style gameplay, but I think I'm gonna run through the campaign a few times because I just haven't mastered it, even on hurt me plenty I have died a lot of times, but that's whats fun about the combat is that every demon has it's own style of play and I have to be aware of that pinky whilst I'm bashing a possessed human to death with it's own arm.

I played the first couple of missions, but didn't find myself really getting behind it. It was fleetingly fun and brought back memories, but I didn't see myself wanting to play it for very long. Sadly, I didn't feel regretful for quitting and uninstalling it

What's not to love about tearing demons to gory pieces? Absolutely nothing. I've never played an older Doom but I love the plot setting and the environment, and the extreme violence of course. Multiplayer feels like some Satan worshippers made a reboot of Halo 4, and I find it quite enjoyable. I was skeptical about the demon possession, but then I discovered the joy of ruining them with a lightning gun. Also very happy to note that my potato South African internet doesn't seem to plague me as much as in other shooters

Even tough, my nickname is the original doom1 and doom2 godmode cheatcode, and doom was one the first (after wolfenstein 3d) games i played (next to a few DOS games; Prince of Persia, Day of Tentacle, SC2000 etc.). I couldnt care less about DOOM now. Back then, there wasnt much choice and not many games either, everything new you could do in a game was a blast! repetetive brainless shooting was fun back then because it was something NEW. Now i look at Games like Doom and just think, why? what for? How much brain do i need to take out before i enjoy somehting like this? (no offense ) Give me Half-Life 3 !
