Unless you have been living in a cave this last few days, Call of Duty has just released this... With over 600,000 dislikes and 200,000 likes, it is clear the community is not happy about this. But the boys at Infinity Ward have pulled out a joker in the form of a Call of Duty Modern Warfare remake. But to obtain this legendary FPS you have to buy the new Infinite Warfare, this is also a bad move as people will be essentially wasting money buying a game they don't want to obtain a the one they do want. To make things worse, right now, the amount of people who will actually play Infinite Warfare could be pretty slim, as the masses should flood to the game that gave Call of Duty it's renowned popularity. But as of last night, as fans were already putting the lid on the coffin of Call of Duty's new game, in came another game with a hammer and some nails, and closed the lid solid shut... The guys over at Dice have listened to what the fans wanted and have come out with a World War I game that looks absolutely epic. Looks like the Battlefield hype train will be picking up a lot of players from the Infinite Warfare station. So is this the end for Call of Duty, have they shot themselves in the foot? Or will the reboot of the Modern Warfare series save them? What are your opinions, will you play Infinite Warfare? Will you get it just for the Modern Warfare Remake? Will you not get either due to the frustration of having to buy both? Or will you jump on the Battlefield hype train, CHOO! CHOO!.

Honestly the only thing about CoD that I'm looking forward to is the re-release of MW. I couldn't care less about Call of Reach: Infinite Killzone...

I want the Modern Warfare remake, but I don't want to pay and then pay again essentially to play it.
My bets are they'll wait 6-12 months and then go, hey here's the remake separate, but no one will wait because they will be concerned that they will miss the remake boat.

I remember:
Bad Company 2 vs Modern Warfare 2 Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3 Battlefield 4 vs Ghosts
Every time Battlefield went head to head against Call of Duty everyone was quick to say Call of Duty got wrecked and it was the end for them.
Nope. Never happened. CoD still outsold Battlefield. Yes, with every new Battlefield game the game has become more popular and I think Battlefield 1 will probably be the most popular to date but Call of Duty will absolutely not be killed.
Do I believe Battlefield is a technically superior game? Yes. Way better graphics, way better sound, bigger player count, destruction, vehicles etc. Do I think Call of Duty sucks? Nope. When it's done right it's still fun and it's a completely different type of shooter anyway.

And I agree with with you that if it's done right it is a fun game, I have bought the last two Black Ops and they have been very enjoyable, but I have not proceeded to buy the series by Infinity Ward.

Do you think if Infinity Ward wasn't selling a Modern Warfare remake, that Battlefield would out sell Infinite Warfare this time round? Maybe. CoD's sales are definitely dwindling as Battlefield's have become larger over the years but I think it'll be a while before CoD is beaten and a very long time before it dies.

I would be ok if Call of Duty were to end is all I'm going to say. I never hated the series, but they started losing me out.

Honestly CoD only gets so many sales because of the people that play it are wired to get it. Every person that I personally know that buys CoD every year all act the same: elitist, quick to be angered, and immature. Plus CoD is just easy to play.
I think this year CoD will get rekt, but not die. Maybe just get comatose. I'll definitely be buying BF1

Infinite Warfare will be a success because people will buy it in order to get Modern Warfare Remastered. Whatever game you actually play don't mean squat, sales will show Infinite Warfare sold.
Now has Activision destroyed consumers confidence with this stunt leading to next years game bombing in sales? Possibly. We'll have to wait and see. But there is a reason Modern Warfare was bundled with Infinite Warfare, and that reason is so a fan requested game will boost the sales of a crappy game.

I have every prejudice that Battlefield 1 will be a better game that CoD IW, however I'll probably wait until it's released before I come to a conclusion rather than jumping on the "it's the next CoD and ermahgerd it's in space it's gonna be shit" bandwagon.

CoD isn't going to die now, or anytime soon. It will still out sell Battlefield by a long shot like it does every time they come out close to each other. I play Battlefield and CoD for completely different reasons. I will not play objective game types in CoD where as I almost exclusively play Conquest in Battlefield. Even if Infinite Warfare didn't have the remaster tacked on, it would probably still out sell Battlefield, because no matter how angry the vocal part of the fanbase is,(which is a small part of the overall group)the majority will still buy it and play it. I won't be buying either one unless all I hear from everyone is amazing things about them.

I do think Battlefield 1 is the biggest chance the series has had so far to topple CoD and I think it'll be much closer than you think. But yes, it's not going to kill it.

Still early days for both games, Call of Duty's trailer seemed very single player based, Battlefields seemed a mix of single and mutilplayer. So Call of Duty has a few more cards to deal, and it has a joker in the form of Modern Warfare. I'm intrigued to see Battlefields Multiplayer trailer, just to see what they can do with it and how well they've used World War 1 equipment, I'm expecting something new.
