Why do people pick Ana at all? Alf and I play on console, and regardless of the level of player they always suck and make our team lose. Same with widowmaker. Are they beastly on PC? Cause they are not on console whatsoever.

If they're a decent shot on PC with good awareness, yeah, Ana is good. Burst healing with Ana is the highest when used right, plus her offensive capabilities are decent.
Admittedly, most of the time you'd also want a second header when using Ana anyways.

I guess it comes down to mouse aiming vs joystick aiming, because snipers are under powered on console. Widowmaker is never used, Ana is only somewhat effective even when paired with Reinhardt, and Hanzo is only good for his ult. Basically, CQC characters dominate.

I have 41 hours as Widow on console and I definitely win more than I lose but in general Id say 99.1% of players on x1 or ps4 are hot garbage when it comes to aiming so I dont recommend many people use her. I play on both consoles, while ps4 players seem slightly worse at aiming both are terrible, PS4 controller isnt very ergonomic so thats probably why. It took a lot of practice before she became even slightly viable for me. In competitive you are a cunt and you should kill yourself if you use anyone but Hanzo to snipe, who is overpowered and should be given a nerf gun instead of launching Fallout mini nukes with his bow.
Also worth noting the tick rate is different on console which makes shots register more...weirdly..expect bullshit kills and misses.
Pro tip: Drag scoping or snap shotting is really the only way to use widow on console or any sniper in any game for that matter. Overwatch its just more apparent because of the wide variety of character movement abilities and different routes you can take to get to the one place. This makes predicting shots nigh on impossible against equal or higher skilled players so thats why you want to drag scope. Aim fast and just take the shot, the most common thing people try to do with snipers is hard aim everything. That doesnt work if you want to contribute to winning. Period.
Sidenote: This is that fine line between being "a quick scoping call of duty faggot" and being good at a game. Obviously you can make your own choices how you play but the "realistic way to snipe" simply doesnt exist in any game Ive ever played.
I havent used ana enough to say I can do well with her but I think the biggest issue I see is her teammates frankly. She puts a Reinhardt to sleep and everyone shoots him instantly, meanwhile you could have taken out all his DPS teammamtes who were riding his dick for safety /Facepalm
Edit: 1 last thing! Switching out of widow or into widow is a pretty important part of playing her on console for a few reasons. First and foremost she is the easiest character in the game to hard counter on console, its not up for debate at all, the raw data from a multitude of websites says this is the case irrefutably. So the element of surprise is extremely important OR having the ability to easily retreat without hurting your team.
So if I want to snipe on say Gibraltar, For attack Id pick widow and look out the main Window. Depending on who I see I may switch, this is somewhat subjective in that your own skill plays a factor, if you suck against Genji or Tracer as Widow you may want to switch even though technically Widow is a hard counter to both. Now after we score the first hill I WILL AND MUST switch out. 2 reasons, distance to objective and lines of sight are short distance from here till we enter the warehouse. Once in the warehouse Ill switch back bc its the opposite of the previous situation. Then the final push you should switch again because of again distance to objective and lines of site are mostly medium to short range albeit open area. Defensively I use the same idea for most part but its rare that I will use her at all because Pharah is just too good at DPSing hills.
Holy fucking wall of text. Alright Im out for another 2 months. Peace.

You're right, the big problem with niche characters like Widowmaker is that most of the player base has no concept of countering picks. I've played too many QP and competitive games where enemies or teammates will run into hard counters a dozen times a match without the slightest thought as to switching tactics. It always befuddles me when the teammate who has been playing Genji for the past three rounds sticks with Genji when the opponents are memeing with a five Winstons and Lucio lineup. If players would swap between different characters more often, then they would be more effective, but as it is people who pick a hero and stick with them the whole match tend to suck hard, especially as snipers.

Widow buff is such a joke... is it so much to ask that she one shot kill everything but tanks? Or at least take 99% of their health with a body shot and any follow up will kill... At least on console...
Its funny how McCree basically made reaper useless when the game came out and now hes a better version of Widowmaker due to mobile range and better CQC.
Should have never touched her damage.

Trowa A one shot on a full health Tracer or D.va out of her suit is fair, but everyone who isn't a tank is too powerful. Bastion would be even less usable if he could get one shot by a scoping hitscan character, the advantage Reaper and Mei get with their healthpool is basically taken away, and that kind of damage would make big target characters like Roadhog or Winston unplayable. I think Widow needs a buff, but not for damage. Make her ADS shorter and her shot charge quicker and she'd be viable.

Hey guys! I recently got into Overwatch when the game was available for free play days on consoles for a weekend during September, and I bought it right after. So far it is one of the best games I've played in a while. I currently play on Xbox, but I may buy the game to play on my laptop in the near future, so I'll just leave my Battle.net info here.
