I'm not a fan of this. The whole strategy of when to pass, when to shoot for the apex, and when to take a corner defensively, is lost. I may as well be racing by myself if I can just pass through other cars.

As a hotlap racer (in Forza, etc), I see some appeal here, as it pushes the emphasis of a race towards best lap time. That being said, I certainly agree that it totally changes the nature of the game, and maybe not for the better since this is GTA and not a pure racer...

I think that it will be a cool addition. I won't want it to be on every single race, but with a lobby of around 4 NoDo to 12 randoms on the LSGP, the hairpin will be SO much better. But the majority of the time I expect the crew to race with collisions active.

It's certainly a neat alternative.

It would be a welcome option for some races but, like catchup and sliptstream, not something I'll use unless I join a random race. I wonder how it'll look on screen, hypothetically of course because I can't keep up with a lot of you f***ers , if several cars are taking the same line at the same time. Hopefully a bunch of gamertags and ghostly spoilers bleeding together wont give me a seizure. Maybe that'll be a neat challenge to keep a group of cars as close together as possible for a race.

If I'm playing with randoms and they keep spinning me out, I'll definitely turn it on. Or just whenever I feel like having a completely fair race. But yeah, it takes a lot of strategy out of the game, and it's almost like you're just racing by yourself.

Anybody can hotlap, being able to pass and effectively block is the hard part of racing. If I wanted to be racing time trials I'd do it proper and get on Trackmania.

Yeah I don't know how I feel about this. I feel a bit half and half. I'm just wondering on how they'll make it work. Honestly I think it'll be kind of broken. There will be a lot legit broken records with this option. You could effectively have two good racers on the same line, just using slip stream constantly. You don't even have to worry about over taking just keep the same line.

I would never use it racing against you guys in the crew. However, there are some randoms that make it their sole mission to bash you off and be jerks. If I was in a race with those idiots, I'd turn it on and destroy them, take my 2 grand, and then find a new lobby after they rage quit.

I see it as a nice addition, I definitely like it, but I'm not sure I want to play with it on GTA.
I played a PC racing game called TrackMania for years, from its release day back in 2003 until everyone went to ShootMania and TM2. That's the very first game I played online, it pretty much defined me as a gamer. And the no collisions feature was their main sales argument, that's what contributed to make this game unique. Seeing this on GTA Online looks logical to me, like it's simply a good idea being recycled.
However, TrackMania was more of an arcade racer. GTA is definitely more realistic, and the drivers are more aggressive, competitive. I'd activate it when I know I'm not against serious drivers, or perhaps beginners who might make mistakes, but not against more experienced players.

I'll always have this off by default. Then if there are a high number of "problem players" it will get turned on. Ghost racing is pretty rubbish though since it's not really racing. You might as well just all go off into separate lobbies and see who can do 3 laps in the lowest time. Good for qualifying sessions though

I personally am excited for non contact options. Obviously for the majority of races I will keep it off, but there are a few situations I will (as a host) have it turned on. For one it will be nice for futo races. One of my other crews and I sometimes get together and do lots of laps in futos. Nobody really tries to win, but non contact will make these events easier to get around a track as a group. Secondly if I am hosting and the lobby votes for a dumb drag track like commute or long haul I will have collision turned off. Its already bad enough on those tracks that a low skill racer can compete with high skilled racers, and then add to that the clean drivers are at a serious disadvantage. So all in all I think non collide has a place and I will be using it.

Won't use it all the time but it will have a proper time.

I wish there was an option that had this ghost car idea enabled until about 50%-60% of the players passed the first corner, then the game sets itself back to normal settings. The reason I like this idea is that it helps prevent the inevitable pile-up seen every time you turn the very first corner in a race, even when playing moderate racers. If some system could be worked out where this is a thing, racing the LS Grand Prix track won't always start with some jackass sideswiping me off the first corner because they didn't realize you can't hit the brakes mid-air.

It would be cool if that had an option where it would be enabled for everyone except crew.
