As much as I hate to say it, I agree! Other guys from wrestling have tried doing UFC and have gotten completely destroyed! It must be a thing to get more people to watch. If you're thinking of the Lesnar signing, I have to say that's completely different for various reasons: a) Lesnar was a national champion in amateur (real) wrestling which is a great base for mma, b) he had to actually win a fight outside the UFC to get a contract, c) it's at heavyweight which is a way more shallow weight class, d) he was 29/30 years old not 36, e) he was a phyisical freak of nature athlete. This is completely unprecedented for the UFC, but other MMA organizations have done similar things in the past. Sean O'Haire was decent. Roberto Del'Rio was ok There were about ten total.. A majority just a muse.

Even if CM Punk was decent hes too old to fight longer than a year or 2. I just dont see this as anything but publicity stunt. Fighting is an art. He may know some basics but the rest of these guys have been doing this their whole lives. Its going to be ugly, its going to look bad for wrestling and I think thats the main idea. Draw WWE fans in and show them how one of their stars fairs in a real fight. Not saying it will work but its seems to be the idea.

I don't think the UFC's reasoning is that insidious, Dana probably just got semi erect imagining the attention he'll bring in. CM Punk has been a fan of and friendly with the UFC for a while. They'll probably just put him on card with a another big fight with title implications that's likely to be exciting. The WWE fans will see what actual fighters at their best look like and hopefully be drawn in. Dana said he'll match Punk up against someone else who's 0-0 anyway so, it most likely won't be a complete massacre.

It only makes since for them to try and draw wrestling fans to UFC. They did the same shit with boxing in the early days of UFC. If you arent a growing company you are a dying company. Dana White should be fired if he stops doing things like this to grow the UFC because he frankly wouldnt be doing his job anymore. Personally as a Boxing and UFC fan idgaf about CM Punk and most fans dont. Only WWE fans really care which is kind of my point.

It seemed like you were saying that part of their goal was to make wrestling look bad. I agree that this is solely a ploy to get attention from WWE fans, but I don't think the UFC has any intentions beyond drawing in more viewers.

Yeah I just think as a byproduct of CM Punk getting smacked around it makes wrestling look bad. Not that its their goal.

I'm gonna die if I see him swing at someone and stomp his feet... Lol... And the swing that comes back at him stomps his face!
