First car was a 2004 Subaru Outback H6 LLBean Edition. I freaking loved that car; got it from my mom with 90,000 miles on it (she had bought it new), I drove it to ~125,000 miles, and now it belongs to my little brother and has 142,000 miles and counting. Supremely reliable, comfortable, built well, and actually very fun to drive. I'm not even kidding about the last part - aside from the boat-like suspension and tires, the chassis on Legacies/Outbacks are extremely capable. The EZ30D's also a great engine; it's smoother and more reliable than the 4-cylinders and has tons of low-end torque, it just tends to suck through gas pretty quick (22 MPG average combined city-highway-canyons). The only real weak links with the car are the suspension (at least on the road) and the 4EAT - it tries its best, but I still hate that damn transmission haha. Oh, and the brakes - they're great, but they'll overheat in quite the hurry if you're trying to have fun.
One day I hope to inherit the car back, at which point I'll do an STI 6MT/R180/hybrid axle swap, full Legacy suspension conversion plus aftermarket including coilovers and suspension bushings, 2005+ LGT brakes, a header-back exhaust, possibly an intake, and a tune. Power is less relevant since I would keep that car as my daily driver, but that car could really benefit from some performance-oriented suspension and a manual transmission. 99.9% of my driving is on-road; although I do appreciate the versatility of the current suspension setup if you do need to go off-road, but I just don't need it.
I'm a Subaru guy through and through; they may be quirky, but they're very well-designed and well-built where it matters. I'm also overwhelmingly biased towards AWD, especially compared to FWD. The only other car I've owned (my current daily driver, actually) is a 2008 Acura TL (5AT) - possibly one of the finest FWD cars out there. Although I love it to death, I can never help but think how amazing that car would be with AWD.

My friend actually rolled her 06 Subaru Outback in my neighbor's yard this past winter (roughly about 2 and a half months ago). Didn't have full coverage or anything so she's without a vehicle for the time being. She let me drive it a few times and it was very fun and comfortable to drive! How she managed to roll it I have no idea... Well, actually I think I do. She flies everywhere she goes. -_-

Damn, that sucks :/ Haha Outback suspension is very confidence-inspiring, right up until the moment you exceed its pain threshold. Then it gets scary haha. Here's a video of me nearly stacking mine on a twisty back-road when I was in high school. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjqNy8b7pp4You can clearly see that the car got extremely unsettled by the quick weight transfer when I entered the corner. Normally, this would cause the car to understeer, but in this case the roads were slick and my tires were old and low on air, so I got snap-oversteer when I backed slightly off the throttle mid-corner (brilliant move, I know haha). This was the first time I had experienced a slide, since here in SoCal we don't have to deal with rain or snow haha. My recovery was a bit shaky as a result, but I managed to keep her in the lane and pointed the right direction. Haha I've come a long way since then...

Good job holding that dude Experience is really key when it comes to counter steering. I live in the midwest so I had winters to learn in, they are the best test you can do to your skills as a driver. But I would kill for more roads around me like the ones in your videos. This winter was so epic here tons of snow and ice a real challenge. Even if I have a AWD SUV I can still get it to go sideways and have some fun You know it's interesting, never have owned a Subaru yet but wanted to for a few years now. Something about them you know. They may not be pretty or pimp but they're practical, well made, simplistic to work on (repetitively speaking),and just lovable in general . I've never seen cars that you could swap chassis, engine, transmission, and suspension from different years and makes and from totally different parts of the world and still have an awesome working car with now major modification to the different parts at all, kkkk lol I MEAN REALLY... A late 90's USDM Impreza Coupe with a EJ2555 dropped in with the stock 5 speed tranny just put in a pro clutch and better pump that is like a 200bhp difference go figure. And the shit takes it and still wants more Kkkkk I looked at buying a couple LGTs last summer one wasn't in good condition though and the other was a Spec B but I waited just a few hours to long to make my decisions on that, how depressing Cars in general like that are hard to find around where I live

Haha thanks. This is gonna sound crazy, but I drove in snow for the first time just this last winter. I've been driving for over four years hahaha. Just keep looking for that LGT man, you'll find one Keep one eye glued to the used-car sites and the forums; they pop up on a fairly regular basis, especially in larger cities. Also remember to keep your eyes open for Outback XT's if you're willing to invest in some suspension parts to get it to LGT height after you buy it; they have the identical drivetrain/powertrain as LGT's, just with Outback body panels & suspension. The 4th-gen's are amazing little cars, especially the wagons. I have no idea why Subaru stopped offering the turbo/manual wagon here in the US.

I have a couple people watching the auto auctions for me for a 2011+ WRX hatchback now so hopefully I can find one in really good conditions with in the next couple months. Yeah unfortunately Subaru's like LGT's and OXT's are hard to find in my area, especially ones that people haven't douche bagged up (Painted panels, stupid performance mods, ugly rims, ect.). Subaru seems to be getting away from Wagons/Hatchbacks and manual turbo vehicles in the. Even the new WRX is offered with an automatic CVT (which I heard is actually not to bad suprisingly) and no hatch. In USDM hatch/wagons, coupes, and even manuals more now just don't sell good. In general Americans want 3 types of car (stereotype btw lol) luxury "sport" sedans, muscle cars, and SUVs. It's finally starting to change again though to see good proformance vehicles for under $35k, but mostly imports lol (Ford Focus/Fiesta ST a good exception to that)

Best of luck with the WRX!!
Yeah, it sucks what some people do to their LGT's. All the ones I've seen have been pretty tasteful though.
I dunno, it seems like the wagon versions of both the Legacy and the WRX/STI made up a pretty big percentage of Subaru's sales when they were offered here. It makes little to no sense to me to not offer them in the US, when they're being offered without issue in Japan and Australia. I personally think Subaru's making a mistake, but it'll be hard to convince them since their sales are still off the charts haha.

My first car was a 1995 pontiac grand am. Also had a beretta GTZ but sold it before I ever got to drive it. My dad deemed it unsafe and a bad first car (it was a 92 with a lot of miles on it) It was kind of in state where it was falling apart lol. My favorite car or the car I really wanted when I was in high school anyways was a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM. I would still like one but they are more for show nowadays. The only ones you see on the street are almost always v-6 automatics I definitely wouldnt get that. Just havent been willing to drop 7-12gs on a Trans am and I wouldnt say they are rare but when I was seriously considering buying one I was definitely gonna have to travel a good ways to get the car. Almost all the good condition ones I found were for sale by owner. Dealerships dont touch Firebirds anymore.

I don't really have much of a favorite car brand but American sport or muscle cars are my fav. The Mustang GT or a Firebird just scream testosterone and I'm all about that. My all time favorite car is the Dodge Viper, although SRT is actually owned by FIAT, so technically it isn't an American car. My first ever was a Buick Regal gran sport, which I rolled into a ditch xD Attachments:

I've been a petrol head since i was a little kid, with a particular passion about cars and since then I'm saving up money for my first ride . I'm now 16 and once I turn 19,i will be able to drive every type of car wuìith no restrictions ! I really do not know what car should I chose for my first car,so help me out here guys ! I would be more keen to buy a RWD sports car and with a budget of 5000 Euros the options are not that many, why you may ask why I would need a RWD or AWD car as my first serious car, well I live in Italy, and i'm really close to lots of tracks really keen to do open track days for road legal cars, and i would love to partecipate in such awesome events in my daily driven car .
Right,my main options are : Mazda Mx-5 First Generation ( why ? M.iata-I.s-A.lways-T.he-A.nswer )
Nissan 200sx S13 (ca18det) ( why ? Why not ? )
Nissan Silvia S14 (ca18det) ( why ? Cuz S14 is no S13 broh !)
Subaru Forester 2004/06 ( why ? AWD with space in the back for snowboards) Saab 9-3 2008 ( why ? Because Top Gear happened .) ( FWD WARNING )
Volvo Polar (why ? Because Jalopnik happened .)

Miata IS always the answer lol. Hows the weather in your part of Italy? If it's always fabulous then I'd go for the s14 or Miata If not Forester should be the safe bet.

I drive a 2010 GT Traffic 1.0. The mileage is insane, and I've hardly had to maintain it at all. I'm looking at a Suzuki Savage 650, but for no other reason than because I can pay cash for it right now and still keep my expenses down.

Well the weather here is strange if you are not near the coast, being almost at the same latitude is really similar to Japan actually . Basically it's really hot and humid in summer and extremely cold in winter,in middle seasons it could be warm one day and freezing the other,It's often foggy and snows easily in winter,I could keep going but I think you get the deal ! It's kind of early to start thinking about it seriously but a Subie would be a really solid choice !

My favorite brand? Ehhh, I'll say it has to be Porsche for a "dream" brand. Toyota is my current as of the time favorite. My father used to go offroading in one and the thing was indestructible. Although now it is the bread and dough brand now I like how they are sorta trying to be what they used to be.
I've always wanted a 1980's Corolla GT-S because all I watched when I was a kid was Initial D. But as a high school student, I am stuck with a 2002 Camry SE with 115,000 miles on the clock.

This was my first car, got it when I was 16 and I loved it to death although it was a pain in the ass to keep going. Kind of a love/hate relationship. I have owned this fun little thing too, much more reliable and fun to drive but not as pretty.. :-) But today I don't have the time or interest to have a noisy, thirsty old car so I have this fine automobile! So what is my favorite company? Well, Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and BMW of course..lol
