I've just recently unlocked everything from the bunker update (I know i'm slow)
But I'm so shit with the weapons I wonder if one of you guys who's good at shooting and r n g etc let me know how best I should use the upgrades to the mk2 weapons?
So like is there a preferable type of magazine for each one? what upgrades will help etc ?
what's the generally accepted "best" set up for these weapons ??
thanks !!!!

Pistol MK2: not worth buying that upgrade whatsoever. Other pistols are still superior in every way. SMG MK2: Hollowpoint rounds. With it's fast fire rate, it shreds NPCs/people without armor into piles of minced meat when it comes to close-quarter combat. AR MK2: Incendiary, just for the lulz. The AR MK2 is inferior to the Carbine MK2, so it's not really a weapon you'll use often. At least it makes nice flames. Carbine MK2: Armor piercing for when you need to fight people with body armors. The weapon has a decent range and decent damage, so it becomes useful all around with this ammo. Combat MG MK2: Full Metal Jacket rounds. It's so strong that it's so good, it takes down cars, trucks and helicopters in just a few rounds. Heavy Sniper MK2: NOTHING! Why? Because it's the best sniper to use when you need to oneshoot NPCs/people, and special ammos give you so few rounds that it's so not worth it (on top of being expensive af to upgrade and resupply). Best used without any special ammo and with the thermal scope IMO.

Not a huge pvper, but this is my setup, for a mix between fighting npcs and players:
Pistol MK 2: I don't use it: Purely because if I suicide, I prefer with the "bang" SMG MK2: Bigger mag Assault Rifle MK2: Bigger mag Carbine MK2: FMJ rounds, this is my pvp gun in the event of armored XYZ Combat MK2: Bigger mag, this is my new main firearm for NPCs. DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA! Heavy Sniper MK2: Thermal scope and explosive rounds. The AoE is helluva useful against people dancing around with their guns.
Heavy barrels for all, and except for the sniper, I chose the sight purely based on looks. I am too lazy/cheap to use the special ammo except for the two. I don't want to use a particular gun and guess if they're not armored targets, setting stuff on fire is only for lulz (yeah, I need a gun for that), and tracers WOULD be cool for the machine gun, but they have the same limited ammo count as the other ammo types.
Ammo for sniper is around 50(?), I think the assault rifle is around 400.

Upgrading pistol and SMG seems like a waste of money to me.
Carbine rifle mk II with FMJ rounds for shooting through windows of armored cars.
Combat MG mk II with normal ammo. In this case, I prefer ammo capacity over FMJ rounds because it's the gun I use the most (480 rounds is gone in no time) and because there's no decent alternative for the combat MG (unlike the carbine rifle where you still have special carbine and advanced rifle which are all quite the same).
Heavy sniper mk II: normal ammo or explosive. They're both great and that's why I use them both. You can switch between these once you bought the upgrade and it doesn't cost anything (it remembers the amount of ammo you had). With normal ammo it's still a fantastic weapon, but with explosive rounds you can shoot down a hydra with ease. Best. Feeling. Ever.

Since I don't have all the MK2 weapons ill just speak about what I have with the ones I own:
Pistol MK2: useless in my opinion as it doesn't offer much new to the table in the pistol category as well as it removes the ability to kill yourself with your pistol, which can end up in ruining s situation where might need to kill yourself to stop a personal vehicle getting impounded by cops.
Carbine Rifle MK2: Normal rounds - While armour piercing rounds are a good ammo type for the carbine rifle, there are much better options in the game to use against armoured targets that end up making the increased magazine size in the normal carbine rifle a lot more useful, especially when dealing with GTA Online randoms, where they much prefer to roll all over the place than put some armour on their chest.
Combat MG MK2: FMJ - Despite losing half your original magazine size, this is still more than useful on the combat mg as it gives you a easy access weapon to use which can make any car with any type of bulletproof resistance redundant.
Heavy Sniper MK2: There is 2 ways you can approach this. One way is to use explosive rounds on the weapon which gives you a boom-stick to remove any troll or griever that decides to bother you with their chosen vehicle of destruction (Night vision scope can also work very well with this as it gives you a much clearer picture of distant vehicles when in less clear environments). The other way is to use a thermal scope paired with extended mags to give you a very solid sniper rifle that allows you to identify and pick off targets easily (due to the thermal scope) with a decent magazine size to boot.

Then again I barely used the things.

For me the SMG MK2 replaced the special carbine as my main gun, using regular ammo with an extended mag since everything else limits the total ammo and is more expensive. I also got the carbine MK2 with regular ammo as new gun for stealth missions. I'm keeping the assualt MK2 with FMJs as an option against armored vehicles, it's pretty effective but I rarely use it since I'm not into pvp and avoiding big public sessions like a plague. I tried out the heavy sniper with explosive rounds but ultimately the gun serves a different purpose at that point and I need it more as a sniper rifle than an anti vehcile gun. If I could still use the regular heavy sniper I'd go for explosive rounds but for pvp it may differ. Since it can be switched on and off the thermal vision is quite nice though.

Pistol MK 2: Yeah, no, this one's still not all that good.
SMG MK 2: I personally use the HP at close range fights in PVP, it just melts people.
Assault Rifle MK 2: Again, not all that worth it. But it does look pretty nice to be honest.
Carbine Rifle MK 2: Extended, it's my go to weapon for PVE.
Combat MG MK 2: Either extended or FMJ, depending on if we're gonna be fighting Merryweather or not.
Heavy Sniper: Explosive. I see a Hydra or Lazer in the sky, take aim, and with one shot, the Hydra is beheaded, so to speak.

Takes like 3 shots at range to blow up a Hydra afaik.
If you're CQBing you can still noscope the Explosive sniper and it's one-shot deadly, and it's a special stipulation that one-shots regardless of their hp/armor/bullshark, but won't oneshot a guy in the Ballistic Gear (the one you research at bunker), for that you just need to repeatedly headshot him with a Marksman Rifle out of range of his minigun since they can't sprint or get in a vehicle. The only reason you don't use an explosive sniper is if they're in an explosion-resistant vehicle, and then you bust out either a marksman rifle or minigun.
If you're a tryhard no-fun player killing people, those are your weapons, really. Heavy Sniper w/ explosive ammo, Marksman Rifle, or Minigun. If you aren't tryharding you can go use the Combat MG Mk2 with regular ammo. I guess you can throw some proxy mines into the mix too, but honestly killing people has gotten really dissatisfying in the latest update.

It's only just through this thread and recently, that I actually even got a gun locker to slim down my weapon wheel tbh. I just always assumed it was best to have all of them, that's the n00b levels I was at. I've got it down to the ones you suggest plus some others like the knife etc I like to have on me. thanks, I don't really pvp or go after players etc, but if someone starts shit, I want to be in a position to be able to fight back and not just switch sessions etc, i'm getting there thanks .
