I chose tongva hills and vineyard but I would also like to add great chaparral. Three adjacent areas with potential.

Mount Gordo, nice variety from hills to coast. Charming inner lakes for car meets

does the zancudo swamp include the river before it that connects it to the alamo sea? I like that area a lot more than the actual swamp
Also, does the river next to mount chilliad count as chilliad itself?

Chiliad with the throphy truck is hella fun, for Josiah and Gordo a nice little suv gives it a challenge

If I want to offroad these days honestly I just turn on Mudrunner: A Spintires Game. Way better physics, decent selection of vehicles from jeeps, to trucks, to 6x6 Russian trucks, to 8X8's. Water doesn't instant kill vehicles and while the name eludes me, some maps do have hill climb sections, some maps have huge river crossings, the game obviously have mud and mashes, and there are forests as well.
You have drivetrain options (diff lock and AWD) and also automatic or standard, as well as usable winches.
So for me that game has really taken over my offroad needs.
That said, as for a GTA location. I usually tend to hang out around the Vinewood hills, Raton Canon, and Mount Chilliad area. Sometimes venturing over towards Mount Gordo as well. Never really tended to use the Sandy Shores side of the map all that much.
