Hey guys. I've been looking for a racing clan to join for a while, glad to be here! I'm trying to hit the ground running as I need to improve my racing skills by the time GTA V comes out for PC, I'm on PS3 at the moment.
I used to play on GTA IV for PC, mainly racing. If you did too, my name was AdamJ311. I was pretty good too, not quite as good as some of the naturally talented guys, but if there was a 32 man server, I'd aim for top 4, and guarantee top 6. Sometimes I'd even fluke a win or two. I loved the atmosphere of racing in GTA IV, it was very competitive, and hosts were always really quick to boot reverse drivers, rammers, people abusing the mic, etc. We'd have a good joke in between races, but during the race it was all business, fair racing and plenty of overtaking; even if the server was 90% Comets . Deathmatch was pretty good too, but I loved the physics of GTA IV, couple that with the tight streets made for some really good racing.
The first time I played GTA V and did a jump, I did 7 barrel rolls, 4 front flips and a pirouette before exploding. I couldn't even keep the car in a straight line, so sensitive I found the handling. It didn't matter how good I was in GTA IV, the skills mostly weren't transferable. I didn't like the new handling or how the cars felt light as a feather. But I didn't want to be a pessimist, so I kept at it, and now GTA V feels natural. But, I need to start again in terms of racecraft. The basics are there, when to turn in, knowing how to carry the balance through a corner, learning the differences between specific cars, but like anything else, it's all about practice!
I've done one race with you guys, two of the crew and me did a track and I came last; some of the corners were really tricky, blind summits, adverse camber and the like, but I was only last by a few seconds. the guys I raced with raced fairly. I'm happy to be here, because to be honest I've never played console online before, and not wanting to start a war, I find a lot of console players to be awful; low quality mics, abusing mics, those stupid 800000 RP DM and hosts not at all doing their job. That's why I'm here, to participate in people who love to race, but won't put up with idiots.
