tl;dr: Racing/the odd heist is mostly all that I do now in GTA, played for hundreds of hours, glad to find this crew. Thanks Broughy and all the Staff who keep this forum for us. I'm not super competitive, of course I like to place up but for me the race is more important than the finish. I have little experience so far racing against real players online so I tend to be very "over accommodating" on the track. That being said if I do something really stupid and crash you up, or just look like a fool, be assured that it really is just foolishness and not intentional.

{click >>> WALL o TEXT VERSION <<< click} Hello, my nick is sngrmns in RGSC-PC and also in Steam.
I have played GTA5 online since a couple of months after its release for PC, never on console. I admit for a while I didn't expect to find any good racing online despite how fun the cars could be to drive. As you know the types of races "in the open" or found by the rare public invite are not really to our liking. Ramming, weapons and 2-lap city courses comprised of six 90º turns.
After several hundred hours enjoying the other aspects of the game I happened to have someone invite the entire lobby to a Race. He was a cool fellow so I joined up and ended up on a 16-minute-long race across the entire island with 12+ people at the start. The lack of traffic and the fact that we were able to get spread out despite having such random racers meant that I could actually enjoy some driving despite being stuck in my armored Kuruma. After getting ahold of the author to thank him for the map, he messaged me back and invited me to try a playlist - and so I was hooked. Shortly after came a long period of double rewards for Racing which was pretty darned cool.
Edit: Some of my favorite cars to drive, even if not subjectively the "best" in GTA5-PC are the Turismo (my unequivocal favorite if I'm forced to choose), Carbonizzare, the Monroe, the Coquette Blackfin, and the Warrener. Since they fixed the handling I also really enjoy the 9F. I drive a quattro in Life so it's nice to have it at at least represented.
I come from a family with some racing history and have always enjoyed watching motorsport and of course playing the games. Most of my time with modern titles has been spent with Gran Turismo 3 / 4, never owned an X-Box although I've enjoyed time with PGR 1, and some PC titles like GRID and most recently DiRt Rally. DiRt Rally I've put about 100 hours into and I think it's pretty darned good. I will gladly offer a more detailed opinion if you're thinking about scooping it up. I'll even loan you a shovel.
I own a wheel/pedal set which I use for 'sims' but haven't been able to get them to work satisfactorily with GTA. I've tried a couple of third party go-betweens but they don't play well with the game. No big surprise. Native support for advanced controllers: I read something which quoted some dev or rep as saying ~ that it's something they'd love to do, but of course it's not a big priority as it would benefit a small percent of players.
I promise I don't talk this much in a race. Hope I can keep up to your laps, or at least have fun trying.
Edit: forgot the pronunciation. The full spelling would be songremains but I shortened it to fit into an entry form (with a suffix) years ago and it grew on me and everyone else will just have to bear it. Also forgot to add that I had joined about 1mo ago but must not have completed registration and also fell victim to a Purge. Funny to read about this now, I had been thinking for a long time that the group was closed registration and it took an invite to get me here initially; and then finding my membership dissolved to come back.
