Broughcar presents the Chase for the Logger Cup, sponsored by...
Overview
Sanctioning body Broughcar has been proud to host over the course of 2016 multiple challenging oval races to test a unique skillset of driving rarely tested in NODO. From the Redwood Cup, where it all began, in March, to the Indy Special of December, each oval race has consistently yielded constant battles for position and close finishes. Now in 2017, Broughcar is proud to present the Chase for the Logger Cup, the first ever championship event within NODO consisting almost exclusively of competitive oval racing. Be a part of any one of seven exhilarating races taking place across all of San Andreas featuring high-speed, bumper-to-bumper action with some of NODO's best oval racers!

Track Walkthrough (Race 5)
Rules and Regulations
Race control:
The rules and regulations put forth in the following paragraphs shall be enforced by race control and the event hosts.
Race control consists of the non-driver participants. BIGGamerer is the event host.
Pre-lobby:
Participants should be on Teamspeak and in-game 15 minutes before the start of qualifying. The pre-lobby meetup for each race will be held at a location near that track's start/finish line.
Qualifying/Starting Grid:
The starting grid for each race will be determined by lap-times in a 2 lap non-contact race on the track on the day of the race. Qualifying will start at exactly 7PM UTC - if you miss qualifying you can still race, but will start at the back.
Start Procedure:
Per standard NASCAR procedure, the start of each race will be a double-file rolling start led by a safety car*. The pole-sitter may choose whether to start on the outside line or the inside line. Following a declaration by race control the safety car will pull off the track. The race begins when participants cross the start/finish line, at which point they may overtake.
*For road courses an SAGTC-style standing start will be used. After one formation lap participants will park their car on the appropriate start box and wait for a sticky bomb to go off to begin racing. Participants must keep their front tires on the yellow line in their start box.
Racing rules:
This event uses standard NODO rules. Participants should not engage in aggressive driving with competitors who are multiple laps ahead of them. "Wiggle-boosting" is explicitly disallowed. Damaging your suspension to gain an advantage is disallowed.
FPS Rule:
Participants are expected to cap their FPS at 60. If necessary, the event hosts may take action to enforce this rule.
Vehicle Setup:
No offroad tires or spoilers are permitted.
Pitting:
Participants must take 3 mandatory pit stops during each race. Participants may enter and exit the pit lane as fast as they can under normal race circumstances, but should take care not to impede the progress of others while pitting. Participants that pit under safety car must rejoin the track behind any car that chooses not to pit. (The pit watcher, if available, will ensure you are released in the correct position during safety car.)
Participants must take 3 mandatory pit stops during each race:
-Participants who pit before halfway must use the "slow lane" in the pits*.
-Participants who pit after halfway may use the "fast lane" in the pits*.
-Participants who pit under normal race circumstances may proceed as fast as they can through the pits, but participants who pit under safety car must wait at the end of pit road for the whole field to go by before rejoining the track.
-Participants may not take a mandatory pit while obligated to wait for other drivers.
-Pit stops taken while the pits are closed do not count as mandatory pits. The pits open on lap 2. The pits close when the safety car is deployed, and will be opened with an auditory or text-chat notice during the safety car.
-Participants may only pit once per safety car period. Participants that use the wave-around may not pit until after the ensuing restart (See Wave-around rule).
In the absence of a pit watcher, participants must call out their mandatory pits using either voice chat or text chat.
*The halfway point occurs when the leader reaches a designated lap, usually a lap at which point the leader will have completed approximately 50% race distance. Clarification will be provided before each race on what constitutes the "slow lane" and "fast lane" in the pits.
Safety car:
The safety car may be deployed for the following reasons:
-Any 3 car incident which poses an immediate danger to at least 1 other participant
-Any 4+ car incident
-Any incident where a participant must reset their car
-Any incident where an unoccupied car/prop/object/etc is in a dangerous location/is creating an unsafe racing environment
Only race control can deploy the safety car, and they may only do so by typing "sc" in the chat*. Following the deployment of the safety car, participants should slow down and line up single file behind the leader. No overtaking is allowed (minus cars that are crashed or otherwise off pace for an extended time). Please allow for the safety car, if available, to pick up the leader of the race. Remember that the pits are closed until race control re-opens them.
The race may end under safety car if the safety car is active or called very late in the race. Race control will do its best to ensure the race ends under normal racing conditions.
In the absence of a safety car driver, a virtual safety car will be used.
*On road courses, participants with prior approval from the event host are permitted to deploy the safety car. Approved participants should be well-respected and be able to record the race from their POV.
Restarts:
Race control will give the “1 to go” signal during a safety car period to inform participants that a restart will happen the next time they cross the start/finish line*. At this point, participants lined up in front of the leader of the race during the safety car may drive up to the back of the line before the restart--this is the Wave-around rule^. Participants that use the wave-around may NOT pit until after they cross the line for the ensuing restart.
At a designated point on the track, the safety car will pull off, giving control of the pace of the field to the leader, and participants may overtake once they cross the start/finish line**. Restarts are single-file. The leader is not allowed to pass the safety car before the restart.
If blue flags have been made active, lead lap cars will be permitted to move to the front of the line before the restart. Race control will issue wave-arounds before moving the lead lap cars to the front^^.
Race control may wave off the restart until the next lap if the field is not properly lined up.
*On road courses race control may designate a point on the track other than the start/finish line after which passing is allowed.
**Participants may freely overtake participants that crash or suffer a similar problem before the line. Race control has the final say on the legality of any overtake before the line.
^Participants who reset their car during safety car must restart at the back of the line. Exceptions will be made for participants who must respawn in order to get back on the track.
^^Cars that take the wave-around and end up back on the lead lap restart at the end of the line, even after blue flags have been made active.
Blue flag:
Participants may issue the blue flag to other participants they are lapping after the leader reaches a designated lap, usually after completion of 90% of the race distance*. Participants issued the blue flag must yield to the participants lapping them. There will be notifications before and during the race at which lap participants may begin issuing blue flags.
*Blue flags are always active on road courses
Red flag:
Red flags may be issued by race control late in the race to ensure a possibility that the race finishes under normal racing conditions, or after numerous safety car incidents/a major safety car incident/many laps run under safety car to prevent too much of the race from being run under safety car conditions. Under a red flag, the leader must stop where they are. No overtaking is permitted.
Penalties/Disqualifications:
Penalties or warnings may be assessed for minor violations of the rules, or actions detrimental to the event, either during a race or after its conclusion--usually after its conclusion. Participants who collect multiple warnings may be issued a penalty for those warnings. Participants may be disqualified for serious infractions.
Penalties for infractions are assessed on a case-by-case basis*. Penalties include but are not limited to:
- Time penalties
- Position-swapping
- Loss of championship points
The following actions are grounds for being disqualified (this list is not exhaustive):
- Attempting to manipulate the outcome of the race by intentionally crashing or doing something else stupid (no crashgates please)
- Any form of sandbagging
- Intentionally ramming/wrecking another competitor
- Repeatedly causing on-track incidents, especially if they result in repeated deployment of the safety car
Participants who are disqualified will be excluded from classification in the final results. At the discretion of the event hosts, they may be blacklisted or referred to a commissioner for further disciplinary action.
*It is possible that race control will miss a rules infraction or two if it is not explicitly made aware of such infraction. In particular, if no requests for post-race investigations are received, then it is assumed that no violations of the rules occurred.
Post-Race Investigations:
Participants may request an investigation on any on-track incident shortly after the conclusion of a race by sending a PM to the event host with a time-stamped video of the incident. Investigations are handled by a special committee. A list of people in the special committee is provided in the spoiler box below.

Participation
Signing Up:
Participants must be meet the following criteria to sign up:
-They must be NODO members who meet event eligibility criteria
-They should have sufficient experience in any of the NODO playlists or a previous NODO event, or a crew member of lieutenant or higher rank should be able to vouch for their on-track competency
Drivers may still be turned away if they are turning lap times significantly slower than the rest of the field--this is a judgement call on the part of the Broughcar committee. (No we don't expect you to be lightning fast, barely anyone ends up on the lead lap at the end of these things, but we do expect you to be fast enough to where you're not a moving roadblock.)
Participants who announce their intent to participate in the entire season will automatically be signed up for each race. Participants who do not intend to participate in the entire season may sign up for each race individually*. Participants who do not wish to commit to the entire season/cannot commit to the entire season are encouraged to attend the individual races they wish to run/can make.
*Preference for spots in races 2-7 will be given based on position in the drivers standings, as long as participants sign up more than 48 hours before the start of a given race--preference for spots after this time period will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Reserves:
Participants may sign up as reserves for a particular race if they are unsure they can make/want to run that race. Non-reserve participants have priority over reserves. No shows in past events or last-minute joins will be signed up as reserves regardless of their stated intent to commit to the event at the discretion of the event host. Reserves will be assigned teams just like all other participants should they fail to arrange any details themselves.
Borrowing Cars:
Participants may borrow cars if necessary for a given race. Participants are advised to buy the cars if they can due to restrictions on car borrowing.
Race Control
NODO members who wish to be a part of the event but not as a driver may sign up for one of the below positions in race control. Race control has the authority deploy the safety car and may issue call-outs/penalties or request post-race investigations as deemed necessary.
Safety Car Driver
The safety car driver is responsible for driving the safety car when deployed. If the safety car driver is not driving the safety car they should act as a race official (see race official section).
Pit Watcher
The pit watcher is responsible for keeping track of the pit stops taken by participants and enforcing pit road rules (Making sure people take their pits, exit in the correct manner during safety car, etc.). The pit watcher should record the race from their POV if possible.
Race official
The race official is an additional non-driver participant who helps enforce the rules. They watch the track and ensure people are abiding by the rules, and issue call-outs/penalties if they do not abide by them.
Points
Points will be awarded for finishing positions to each driver after each race to determine a driver's champion and a team champion. Only the two highest-placing drivers from each team after each race will contribute to their team’s point count:
1st: 100
2nd: 90
3rd: 81
4th: 73
5th: 66
6th: 59
7th: 53

20th: 8
21st: 6
22nd: 5
23rd: 4
24th: 3
25th: 2
26th: 1
Only a driver's 6 best races are considered for the driver's championship.
Participants who disconnect will receive points dependent on the amount of race distance they’ve completed. (This means participants that disconnect late will receive more points than participants who disconnect early.)

20th: 8
21st: 6
22nd: 5
23rd: 4
24th: 3
25th: 2
26th: 1
Only a driver's 6 best races are considered for the driver's championship.
In particular, if a driver finishes 5th, 6th, 1st, 2nd, 20th, 4th, and 7th in each of the seven races, the 20th place finish will not be considered--participants who disconnect or miss a race can still have a competitive run at the driver's championship.
The driver who starts the race is the driver who scores points in the driver's championship and the team they drive for is the team who will receive their points towards the team championship. This means if Driver B, who normally drives for Team B, misses a race and Driver A takes his place and scores 90 points, Driver A will receive 90 points, Driver B receives 0, and Team B receives Driver A's 90 points towards the team championship. If Driver C starts race 1 under Team B and scores 5 points but then switches to Team D for race 2 and scores 81 points, then Driver C will have 86 points, Team B will have received 5 of Driver C's points, and Team D will have received 81 of Driver C's points.
Tie-breakers in points will be determined by a countback on wins, then (if necessary) 2nd place finishes, then 3rd place finishes, and so on. (Under the rare circumstance that this does not break the tie, the person/team who had more points right before the tie will be awarded the tie-breaker.)Participants who disconnect will receive points dependent on the amount of race distance they’ve completed. (This means participants that disconnect late will receive more points than participants who disconnect early.)
