Following on from a thread with info given from @ogfringe where we discussed his "setup" on the Elegy RH8 (SCUM, YES) Basically he suggested I try a certain setup which included...
Removing the rollcage / Fujiwara tuner tyres / stock everything, bumpers etc (usual performance upgrades!) and the 1st non stock spoiler.
I noticed an immediate difference in the cars handling, and be it a placebo or not, it feels easier to drive to me.
So my question is simple really, with the plethora of cars we now have / tyre options / upgrades / bennys etc etc Does anyone have a particular "setup" for a particular car that they feel is somehow overpowered or works "better" for them than other setups?
I'd be very interested to know and to share this info with the community via this thread.
Thanks all.

Don't give me the credit!! It was Ishan 's suggestion. However seen as I have a dedicated thread I'll happily discuss my general setups for vehicles I use for racing. All vehicles: Max Armour (helps in contact racing believe me and it doesn't add physical "weight" to the car). Max brakes, engine, transmission and a turbo... for obvious reasons. Lowest suspension possible - IMO gives a low centre of gravity and makes the car easier to control, possible a hint of oversteer but nothing too dramatic. Spoiler - typically I find the first none stock option suits a car best. Notable exceptions include the Osiris and Turismo (the true hateful, hateful machine). Tyres we'll come back to this. Everything else is stock; hood, roof, exhaust, bumpers etc. I don't personally use roll cages. The only cosmetic modification I've been playing with is if the car has the option of a roof scoop. The basic theory is the centre of mass of the car is then in the middle. Okay, so here's what you were waiting for tyres... If the car is balanced Use whatever you want, personally it's Rock Crawlers in the Off Road catagory. Too much understeer Fujiwara in Tuners. Too much oversteer Slideways in Tuners. To be fair there are multiple options, Mr CHILLI 's wonderful document covers what has been discovered in terms of wheel properties. If you don't like the recommendations, feel free to trade them for something a little more appealing. If anyone wants to know specific car set ups, I'll gladly take a look at individual cars and do a bit of testing myself. Oh and for the record... I don't normally race with the Elegy unless I fancy raping the lap times. I normally choose the Jester (RC), but I'd rather have the Carbonazzi

For the Blade I feel like this setup works quite well
Wheels: Muscle - Dukes (although this could probably be substituted for any front traction bias wheel)
Suspension: Stock
Spoiler: Drag Wing
Hood: Any of the 3 blowers
This setup is designed to work around the fact that the Blade simply refuses to oversteer. That means you can run a crazy front grip-heavy setup and not risk the back end coming around. I mean, it's still a Blade, it still won't turn but it's the best it'll get. This setup + heavy mid-drive abuse + tryharding + the right track = being able to be relatively competitive with Dominator Racecars

Never liked the Blade, always reminded me of a road going Tug!!

Elegy is definitely a car you need to experiment with to find the right setup, Like right now I have just the front bumper custom, put High Ends on the thing and got the tuner wing with I think the middle suspension setup. It is easy as hell to drive and I can be consistent in a car that used to cause me so much trouble but the downfall is that it seems slower around track as it just understeers but it is easier to drive as there is no snap oversteer.
Most of my cars have weird and wonderful setups because I am a dirty hotlapper and lots of the time I spend is customizing cars to be good on certain tracks. I have 2 Dominators for this reason. One has offroads and stock suspension for city tracks and the other other has High Ends and Comp suspension for flat tracks, they feel entirely different but suit those track styles for me.
Only real pointers I can give from personal experience are:
Pretty much if the car doesn't have the tyre can clip flag you will want High Ends for flatter surfaces so you can feel the power input and then offroads for other tracks just because they seem to be good all round. If you have doubts use a dom with tuners on RON raceway and then use High Ends, you will feel a difference in the way it drives.
If the car understeers put more weight on the back (bumper upgrades) and if it oversteers put more weight on the front to produce more understeer.
Stock exhaust is usually the easiest to short shift with

The only different setup I use is on my elegy retro. Street suspension Standard bodykit
Drives nicely on most street circuits with this setup personally. All my other cars have diffusers and pretty much every body kit to make it look like a race car.

Might give some of the rest a go now. Cheers mate

A quick report - tried some "neutral" high end tyres on the Dominator... fantastic in Blaine County and Airport circuits, even some stunt tracks. Whatever you do, don't do what I did accept a race invite and forget you left them on. I spent 5 laps of Muscle In trying not to get lapped!!

Regarding suspension, I always thought lowering the suspension restricted movement (more understeer) while having stock suspension allows for easier turning. Is this wrong?

Regarding suspension, I always thought lowering the suspension restricted movement (more understeer) while having stock suspension allows for easier turning. Is this wrong? Depends on the car really. The suspension affects how the car feels to you more than how it actually turns. Lowered suspension is more stable, but sometimes will come across as sluggish to the driver. Stock suspension has more immediate input to the driver, but sometimes feels more "on rails"

Is there some actual data how much different setups can affect laptimes?

Is there some actual data how much different setups can affect laptimes? in the majority of cases setups like these aren't necessarily about going faster. It's about making the car more enjoyable to drive. Of course, there will be some minor laptime differences but at the end of the day a better setup will never beat a better driver.
