Headset I could leave or take but the mixamp is what you want with a good headset. Still really good pickup congrats, maybe I should grab one of these.

I'm not 100% sure if I made the right call. There are a lot of great things about this headset but there is one important thing that it is lacking -> BASS. Otherwise the sound is great and crystal clear. Dolby Surround is amazing. Couldn't believe how different it felt to walk and drive through Los Santos.
I assume the reason for this is that Astro has developed this Headset for very high level play, e.g. pro players at tournamets that need to hear the finest of footsteps and reloading sounds etc.
In my setup at home though I use my headset for basically everything (games/tv shows/MUSIC). That's where it's somewhat disappointing for me and I actually prefer the sound of the 50€ Turtle Beach X12 Headset that I used to have. Besides that I had to buy a new sound card because I needed a S/PDIF port for the optical cable to be able to use Dolby Surround on my PC. So I spent 300€+ in total.
Not entirely sure what I'm gonna do. I'm probably gonna return them and buy a headset with an amp and dolby surround that has more bass and is better suited for music and movies.

My favorite headset is my Sennheisers but they were expensive too. Sound quality is just as good as my sennheisers headphones. I use them for everything. But I don't have an amp to use them for xbox the whole surround sound for headphones in my experience is bull there headphones.

I think an angel kissed my ears tonight cause I'm really enjoying the sound today. I was probably too used to my old headset that I wore for 1000s of hours.

What did you think of your X12s? I've tried them on at Walmart, along with every option up to the $85 Turtle Beaches, not only can I not tell a difference in sound between all three but they all sound godawful. I'm talking $2 earbuds that have been through the washer awful. I'm thinking maybe the display they have set up at Walmart is screwed up. If you were happy with yours I may just go buy a pair and then return them if I'm not pleased with the sound quality.

The X12's were my first headset that cost me more than 10 bucks. So I wasn't used to any real sound quality prior to that. I was honestly very pleased with them. I've turned the bassboost up about 2/3 most of the time and had a good time with them all long. Not sure what I would've thought if I had any prior experience with a better headset. I guess the X12 are a bit overly bassy but I didnt have a problem with that. My problem was that the frame of headset has a weak spot right over the ear cup and gave up on me after less then a year. I wasn't super super careful while using and used it a lot but I would've expected a longer life out of it. On a technical site, I plugged them into my pc on the standard 3,5mm plug. On consoles, I got the sound directly from the 360 / PS3. I read that this method would get me the best sound experience compared to getting the sound through the TV. I bought this for a few bucks for the 360: m4.sourcingmap.com/photo_new/20110304/g/ux_a11030400ux0246_ux_g03.jpgAnd used the cable that came with the PS3 to get the sound there: discount2000.com/17-73-thickbox/cable-av-para-ps3.jpgWhile having HDMI for video, obviously. I think you're already on the right track by buying one and testing it for yourself. Headsets are heavily depending on personal preference. No doubt.
