THIS is Racing Practice:

Practice is very important as everyone else says, but you need to know how to practice. Here is a video Broughy made about practice and how to improve your lap times: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU7um5uSpKI The video was made in Gran Turismo but it applies to any racing game. You should also join events whenever you can to gain more and more experience at driving, and also seeing how other racers drive in certain situations, what happens during a serious race, how to act, and all that. I would recommend you to start with events that use slower cars and maybe less serious ones. If you are on PS3 you can join the Van Endurance that myself and Katenhond are jointly hosting. I'll probably make the official thread for it after I type this up. I say you should start off slow because driving a slow car gives you more time to think about everything. Your surrounding, all of your options, how to take the next corner, how to overtake, how to defend, and all of that will give you much experience. Because the cars are slower and people have more time to think, there are typically less accidents so you are less likely to hit people (It happens to everyone, we won't hate you for it.) and the racing stays nice and close so you can practice overtaking and defending. You can also make your own track and put cars around it to find out what you like, which is important obviously because racing a car you like will give you a massive advantage over when you race a car you are not familiar with or do not like driving.

If you say race solo or hot lap tracks to get better I would disagree. I tried that for almost 3 weeks, didn't join any races, hardly improved. And on new tracks I was way off the pace. Then I started racing everyday with others. Sometimes just 3-6 of us, other times up to 20 of us. And I found I improved massively, keeping up with some of the people I thought were too fast to ever be caught at some points, although it didn't last long since I choked a lot xD. Racing with others is the best way to improve, especially your race craft. Hot Lapping can only get you so far when in relation to a racing situation. Look at Sweat Buckets. Back in the summer they raced non-contact and hot-lapped, they were arguably one of the best racing crews out there for non-contact, then they switched to contact, and it took them time to adapt to contact again. They had to implement rolling starts at one point, but look at them now. They race contact with ease, just like NoDo, because they raced together. That's my personal experience of improving your racing pace, skill and craft

Watch broughys racing school videos. And really watch them.Pay attention to everything he says and then watch it again. Then practice, try to learn from the fastest guys on your console and if they don't mind, ask them for tips.I'd really recommend watching the racing school videos maybe once a month.I watched them twice when I started and then 8 months later I watched them again and realised I was doing quite a few of the things I was told not to do.So now I'm in the middle of trying to break bad habits such as braking and turning at the same time.Don't do what I did.Just practice, practice, practice.

A fact that surprise me is that I'm a lot faster when I race against crew members..an example on Blaine country 24h i have a pb of 1.35.9 but when i've tried without the adrenaline of a racing i get times 7 seconds slower..wtf and I'm trying to understand where i'm loosing speed

Well I know from real life experience, that I can spend the whole winter practising, but nothing makes you go faster than race pace. It's hard to describe why, maybe it's that carrot on the stick of chasing the guy in front.
As the famous Marc Marquez said "when you are pushing, when you are fast, you are more concentrated".
