So it was announced about five minutes ago that the two presenters of BBC's Top Gear will be Matt LeBlanc (Joey from Friends) and Chris Evans. Was just wondering what people's thoughts are on this and are you going to watch it?

I think most people's problem is that they are comparing it to the old Top Gear and before it's even started it's getting bad reviews. I think it should be treated as a whole new show. I personally like Chris Evans, think he's quite funny and there aren't many bigger petrol heads out there. I saw him race his Ferrari LaFerrari round Oulton Park at Car Fest which is a festival he organises every year. Matt LeBlanc is a funny guy as we all know and I think he'd do well on the show.

Can't stand Chris Evans but Matt LeBlanc is a lad
I'm not sure.

I also think I should mention that Matt is a big car fan too, I just didn't mention it because I know everyone already likes him. He's also still the fastest celebrity in a reasonably priced car IIRC.

I agre though, stupid to compare it to the old top gear. I don't even think the Amazon top gear will be the same.
Time will tell

I am going to watch it hesitantly. If it is better than American top gear I may continue to watch it. I am skeptical if it will be better than old top gear though.

It's a bit of a shame there will only be 2 hosts. I thought it was quite funny when they had a challenge and e.g. Hammond and May worked together to molest Clarkson's car.
But, I'll give it a shot.

If they try to copy the old Top Gear it won't work but if they make it different and a different style I think it will

I think they might announce another co-host because just 2 would limit the show quite a bit. Like someone mentioned before it's a lot better with 3 when they're pranking someone because half the fun was seeing the other two piss themselves as they were doing it. Also with the challenges like Car vs Cycle vs Public Transport, you'd only be able to do two which again is less fun.

"According to The Mirror, producers of Top Gear are hoping that F1 star Eddie Jordan, 67, will be the latest to join the new line-up. He is expected to sign a contract any day apparently.
'Irish Eddie' shot to fame as the owner and founder of Jordan Grand Prix from 1991- 2005. He was also the lead analyst for the BBCs F1 coverage from 2009 to 2015.
The racing aficionado will allegedly join Joey Tribbiani Matt LeBlanc and Chris Evans when the comeback show airs on May 8th."
Hope this is true, love Eddie.

I look forward to it. High hopes keep me optimistic, but if it's bad I'll just move on to another show lol

Does anyone remember Top Gear pre-Three Amigos? Tiff Needel etc. Clarkson, Hammond, May aren't the be all and end all and I was a bit bored of their shtick although it was still entertaining. Look forward to seeing how new TG goes.

Look forward to seeing how new TG goes. I never watched it before Hammond, May and Clarkson but I see what you're getting at. All the scripted crap was getting a bit repetitive. I loved it from when they started up to a couple of years ago, still really like the recent episodes but they just went a bit over the top.
