Hi guys Due to the wicked haxxxxx of the FPS chicanery, this event will require you to: 1) Turn on v-sync, and 2) Cap your monitor's refresh rate at 60hz. This will be the standard for the SATCC event going forward. Whilst, with my machine, I could probably easily and reliably exceed 140fps with potato (or worse, console) graphics I don't want racing in my events at least to be a pay to win scenario. Capping at 60FPS gives everyone roughly the same speeds relative to one another. Does turning v-sync on actually do anything if you've already capped your monitor's refresh rate at 60 Hz? I mean, even if your GPU outputs more than 60fps you wouldn't notice since your monitor's refresh rate is capped right? I'm all for having an equal playing field, just wondering what enabling v-sync would do if the monitor's already capped at 60Hz.  V-sync forces the GAME to run the same refresh rate as your display. If you use an extenal device to cap your monitor to 60Hz, that will not change how the game runs, so you will get every benefit from having more than 60FPS. I hope it understandable, but if it isn't I'll try to explain it more carefully. |

Yea that will work. I can drop down to 120hz from 144hz and just do adaptive(half refresh rate) vsync in the nvidia control panel which will lock me at 60fps. Idk what it is about 60Hz but it really messes with my head, could be cause I haven't used that refresh rate in like 14 - 15 years. Had the same issue when I used to work in data entry, ended up bringing in one of my own monitors to work every day just so I could at least be on 120hz lol. |

As I said, if you are capped the display to 60fps is not changes how the game runs, it just do not show all of the frames the game makes. You need to use v-sync. (Full with 60Hz, or Half with 120Hz) because that forces the game to run at 60Hz. Also, usually capping the fps witha 3rd party device is harden than changing the refresh rate, you can do it from in-game setting. |
