Wha, you couldn't have gotten an mr2? could at least have looked for some sweet popup headligts.... I could've totally gone for one of those, but they drink fuel as nothing else, they have a slidey rear, and they're very expensive for a first car. Besides, I still have the Fiero. I might daily that once it's all back into it's former glory, but by then I might aswell sell it. They're worth quite something nowadays. What did it cost? your sense of proper cars? It cost me 750eu, so it was very cheap for what it is. Sense of proper cars is still here; in fact, a 1.3 Starlet might be one of the best first cars, since it's engine is indestructible (so are most Toyotas for that matter), and it doesn't cost me a fortune in insurance. Once I get rid of this thing I'm gonna upgrade to a proper, fun car. Might even daily the Fiero if it's roadworthy by the time.

MR2's are quite cheap actually, even here where we pay 105% in registration, but the later gens with the fixed suspension kinda lack the headlights, so it's a question of staying true to the classics and risking to get wrapped around a tree or look like someone who only gives a damn about performance.

Just because you can find an MR2 secondhand for a small 1K, doesn't always mean it's a proper one. And on top of that, I only really like the second generation MR2. The first one is way too boxy for me, and the last gen is a typical hairdressers car.

I didn't say I found it for a small thousand, I found it for 7 actually, one of the generations, had the popups but I think it was the curvier one and it had an aftermarket steering wheel, shifter, seats and a spotless body and engine. W20 was the name I think.

Well, I (might) get the benefit of something we call student grants.

(rides mx-5) TRIGGEREDbut yea i got the luck of having saved up a decent wad for a car, so i could buy one of the more fun cars. I do agree with the money thing, mine was a cheap 1.8k which you could find a lot for when I was looking, but as of now (1yr later) i have put a total of 3k into the car. since it needed a new engine, top, and brakes. I'm lucky since it's chassis is basiacally rust free, and its a gen1 which only increase in price (rn one similar to mine would sell for 3,5-4k). Fun fact about mine is that it actually has rare rims, a race style petrol lid and a chrome cam cover which all in all would up the price with 500-750. Fiero's look amazing, you've redeemed yourself

I'm not denying it is, I even thought of putting a comb in my glove compartment, on a side not, yes old Japanese cars are super reliant, if the previous owner want a total beunhaas(by lack of english words i know) the engine wouldn't to be replaced at 150k miles, it had constant white smoke and blue at the start and slurped oil like it was a rotary. I've driven a Miata with 300k miles and drive just the same as mine, except it had powersteering

I thought it was normal for roadsters / topless cars until I was cruising with a friend and she was worried her hair would get messed up in the breeze and I offered her the backup comb (Yes it's clean) and she just started laughing. I mean, you gotta make sure your hair stays on fleek after you push your head over the windshield to see what happens when you expose your hair to 100 mph winds... (Lots of knots... So many knots...)

LeStevsDrifts (@steev) not when the most part of your trip consists of straight up 120km/h highways, saves fuel and stuff. OhHiMarc motherfucking bimmer (bmw, you know..) You save fuel by revving low. And I agree FKN BIMMER, but it needs manual transmission though.
Manual is so proletarian. DSG or GTFO, peasants.
