Peugeots are a rarity in the US anymore. Haven't seen one for years. I've never seen anything from Europe besides Volkswagens, BMWs, etc. Always wondered why. I assume today its emissions, lack of popularity, or lack of LHD models I just got back from a two week trip in Germany, Peugeots everywhere. Of course there were plenty of VWs, BMWs, and Mercedes being that they're made there. Saw one ford truck and few mustangs and shit ton of Ford Fiestas but that was it for American made vehicles. Fiats were common and so were other European companies. Never saw a single asian import.

We have many asian cars driving around here, like Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan etc. Not many Lexus or even Infinity, but that's because they cost new the same as a same-class BMW or Mercedes, but are like 2 classes worse. You have to be a really Lexus fanboy to buy one in europe.

My first car was a 1999 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2i - three door version. And as standard back in the day had the wheels changed for some low profile alloys and spoiler added onto the back!!

My first car was a VW Golf 2 built in 1992. Right now I'm driving a Mitsubishi Colt built in 2002.

In early 2000s I was passed down a '95 Ford Taurus SE with the 3.8L V6. A fine engine and a pretty nice chassis for the time, and for an American sedan. Great brakes, well-weighted steering, nice feedback and poise. Really a nice driving car. Also, my dad believed in spending good money on great tires :)
The first solo time I had with it, close to home, something quickly went wrong with the transmission (my first clue was banging hard and lurching into second as I calmly left a stop sign). I limped it about a 1/4mi home pouring tranny fluid from the front main seal. The trail really didn't start until turning onto my last road but boy, did I leave a stain!
Before I got the car, it had been serviced at the dealer including a scheduled transmission service (fluid and filter change, essentially.)
Our (genuine, trusted, local) mechanic said it looked like the dealer had pried the front main seal out with a screwdriver and then pounded the same one back in with a hammer. About a week after getting it back all fixed, I totaled it in a pretty spectacular but injury-free accident. Was nice while it lasted.

Nice little trucks, easy to work on and cheap parts, plenty of junkyard supplies too at least for a while yet; I've seen friends drive them for a long time, 2-300K mi, with proper maintenance (or just throwing those cheap parts at it when stuff breaks).
