THE SENORA 200 MILE
When: Saturday 25/06/2016
Time: 8pm UTC
Where: Behind your PC silly
Track: Senora Ring 200
Laps: 99
Car: Sultan RS
Time of Day: Noon
Weather: Clear
Meetup: The dirt patch at the senora road and route 68 crossroad.
Shenanigans: No!
Rules and Regulations
Race control: The rules and regulations put forth in the following paragraphs shall be enforced by race control. Race control consists of the event organizer, the safety car driver, and the pit watcher.
Qualifying: This event will feature a brief qualifying session. Participants will partake in a short 2-lap non-contact race. Remember your position.
Start Procedure: As per standard NASCAR procedure, the start of the race will be a double-file rolling start. Following qualifying, the field will be lead around the track by a pace car. Following a declaration by race control the safety car will pull into the pits. The race begins when participants cross the start/finish line, at which point they may overtake.
Racing rules: Standard NODO rules apply.
Safety car: The safety car may be deployed for any of the following reasons:
-Any incident involving 3 or more cars
-Any incident which momentarily blocks the width of the track
-Any incident where a participant must reset their car.
-Any incident where a unoccupied car/prop/object/etc is in a dangerous location.
Any participant may call out a safety car if needed. Following the deployment of the safety car, cars should slow down to a pedestrian pace immediately (don’t brake just get off the throttle) and line up single file behind the leader, with no overtaking allowed, except if a car fails to maintain reasonable speed for a sufficient duration of time--this applies to the overtaking of cars affected by a crash.
Upon deployment of the safety car, the pits are CLOSED. Following a declaration by the race official, the pits will be reopened under the safety car period, giving cars a chance to pit. Unless unusual circumstances come up, the pits will generally open up during the 2nd round (not laps) run under caution. Cars that pit under a safety car must rejoin the track after their pit behind any car that elects not to pit.
Race control will give the “1 to go” signal during a safety car period to inform participants the safety car period will conclude on the next round. Following this signal, the safety car will be pulled in, and overtaking may be permitted again once a participant crosses the start/finish line. Race control will only end the safety car after a minimum of 4 rounds have been travelled barring special circumstances. Restarts are single-file, and the leader is always first in line on the restart until overtaking is permitted.
Following declaration of the “1 to go” signal, the following procedure applies:
1. Participants who reset or pit while the pits are closed under a safety car period must drop to the back of the line prior to the restart. If the safety car is called for a participant who must reset, that participant does not have to drop to the back. Additionally, cars in pit road at the time the safety car is issued will not be issued this penalty.
2. (Wave-around rule) Participants who are first in line during a safety car period but are not the leader of the race may drive up to the back of the line before the restart (this is to prevent restarts where the leader restarts “behind” another car). Participants may NOT pit after taking the wave-around.
3. If more than 85% of the race distance has been completed all lapped cars must drop to the back of the line before the conclusion of the safety car period. (This will go smoothly if lapped cars pull out of line to the side, stop, let the lead lap cars go by, and rejoin the line at the back.) These participants should drop to the back upon hearing the “1 to go” signal. Lapped cars eligible to receive the wave-around may use the wave around upon hearing the “1 to go” signal instead of dropping to the back.
4. If necessary, the leader may be instructed to slow down (or a red flag may be issued) to ensure wave around cars catch up to the back of the line in time for the restart. If necessary, race control may wave off the restart until the next lap to ensure wave around cars catch up.
Participants may only take ONE mandatory pit stop at a time per safety car period. Participants may elect to take multiple pits during a safety car period but only the first one will count towards the required number of pits.
The race will end under safety car period if the safety car is called/is active with one in-game lap to go. In instances where it is “close” whether the safety car is called in time, it is at race control’s discretion to determine whether to restart the race or not.
Participants will always have at least one chance to pit under a safety car period.
In the absence of a safety car driver, a virtual safety car will be used.
Participants should be advised given the nature of the event, the organizer expects the safety car to be deployed numerous times.
Pitstops: There are three mandatory pit stops. Participants may enter and exit the pit lane as fast as they can under normal race circumstances. Participants should be mindful of their competitors and inform them when they are pitting to avoid a collision. As described in the previous section, participants who pit during the safety car should rejoin behind cars who don’t pit. The pit watcher, if available, shall ensure cars are released in an appropriate manner from the pit lane during a safety car.
The pits are closed during a safety car period until race control re-opens them, and they are always closed under red flag conditions (See Red Flag section).
Participants who choose to pit under normal racing circumstances should be advised of the possibility of being “trapped” a lap down, a phenomenon which occurs when a safety car is deployed in the middle of a pit cycle, which, in instances where pitting puts participants a lap down, keeps them a lap down instead of the pit cycle finishing and cycling said participants back onto the lead lap.
Participants wishing to pit under a safety car period are advised to pit as soon as the pits open under a safety car period to avoid losing track position.
In the absence of a pit watcher, participants should call out their mandatory pits. Pit stops taken while pits are closed do not count as mandatory pits.
Blue flag: Blue flag rules apply to cars being lapped by the lead lap cars. Obeying the blue flag is optional when less than 85% of the race distance has been completed and mandatory afterwards. Blue flag rules demand lapped cars/cars being lapped yield the racing line to the leaders. Leaders should honk their horn to indicate that the blue flag is in effect. Cars being lapped in general should show respect for the leaders and concede when they understand they’re out of contention for the win, while the leaders should be mindful that differing pit strategies means a potential competitor for the win could very well be one lap down at some point, and should be prepared to battle tail-end cars who choose not to observe the blue flag!
Red flag: At race control’s discretion, the red flag may be issued during a safety car period. Under a red flag, the leader must stop where they are. This allows cars to catch back up to the rest of the field, and helps race control to more easily clean up any messes that occur on the track. No overtaking is permitted during a red flag period, and no pitting is permitted either. (Participants who do pit under a red flag will be penalized as described in the section regarding safety cars.) Red flags may be issued late in the race to ensure a possibility that the race finishes under green or after numerous safety car incidents to prevent too much of the race from being run under safety car conditions.
Participants who cause three safety car incidents, attempt to intentionally bring out a safety car to manipulate the outcome of the race or intentionally wreck another competitor will be disqualified and at race control’s discretion be referred to a commissioner for further disciplinary action.
Participants who fail to give back their position per NODO guidelines will be assessed a pass-through penalty--go through pit road, with the pit not counting towards your mandatory pits.
Participants who fail to observe the blue flag (when it is mandatory) will receive a warning the first time and a disqualification the second time. At the discretion of race control, they may be referred to a commissioner for further disciplinary action.
Teamspeak
All participants are expected to be on teamspeak (Nonchalant Dominance Teamspeak 3 Server) an half hour before the event starts. Go to the EVENTS WAITING ROOM and you will be moved into the proper channel. A mic is not needed if you dont have one, though it is recommended. But you must be able to hear those who do. So you know when the safetycar is called etc.
Participation
As per standard NODO fare participants must sign up in teams of 2. Teams should associate with a sponsor from an in-game company, and a paint scheme consisting of a primary and secondary color of their choice. Teams should take care not to choose similar paint schemes. Sign-ups are limited to 26 entries. (The other in-game spots are reserved for the pit watcher and safety car driver's.)
