Guys. I kinda want a Wii U. I've been reading about the console for a few weeks now, and today the local store finally got them back in stock. I've had a pretty intense internal debate about whether or not to pull the trigger on this, so I figured I'd come and see what my NODO brothers and sisters have to say about it. I love my PS4 and I imagine that even if I were to buy the Wii, I'd most likely end up playing the PS4 more often just for the more extensive game library. At the same time, the Wii U is something special. It only has a few really good games available in Wind Waker, Mario 3d World, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros but it's backwards compatible so Wii games are an option too. These games are simple and colorful and overflowing with nostalgia. They're fun, without the violence and grittiness of the PS4 and XB1. On the flipside, there's next to no 3rd party support for the system anymore and while I'd love for that to change, I doubt it will. Another problem is that the system is starting to get older and its weaknesses are obvious so there's a good chance the next Nintendo console is only a year or two away.
So what do you guys think? Any Wii U owners out there that have any advice? There's not a lot going on on the Wii U, but I'd love to revisit those childhood franchises. I just don't want to waste my money.

Nintendo is currently building a console equal to the x1 or ps4. Do not waste your money now. The time to buy a WiiU came and went before any good games dropped. All you are really missing out on is mario kart and Smashbros so I think its a complete waste of money personally.

I own a Wii U, but i mostly have it for the Mario games. It has Mariokart 8 one of the best games of the year and also Bayonetta 2. I never bought smash bros because its exactly the same game as the wii version, just with Amibo support.
Iv also enjoyed Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario bros U + Super Luigi U and i recently bought Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Anyway you cant really say that it hasn't got any good games, I think its more of opinion on those types of games.
Also it does have games like Skylanders and Watchdogs available for the system if you don't want to buy them for the PS4 / Xbox one. If you like Nintendo's content enough and you own most of Nintendo's other consoles then you would have one already. But its just my opinion ^_^

Thanks for both of your posts guys. Between reading them this morning and posting right now I've flip flopped on this issue at least twice. I read a few articles about how AMD may or may not have developed a new chip specifically for the new console and that Nintendo has been courting third party studios for 18 months already. A new console is suspected in 2016. At the same time, I've never played LoZ Windwaker and really want to. Mario Kart and Mario 3D look pretty neat too. Is Mario 3D similar to Mario 64 in the open world way? Is there a Mario game like that at all? Also - a new LoZ using the mechanics as Ocarina of Time and another Star Fox will soon exist in our universe. Basically what I'm saying is: I'm still totally torn. Ah well.

Trowa Ever heard of Sega? When they said 'the Saturn is not our future' they basically turned into a rotting corpse there and then. I know Nintendo is completely loaded with cash but it would almost certainly kill them. They'll release a new console probably during or after 2016 at the earliest. I know that they've made some pretty fudged up decisions recently but they're not THAT stupid. P.S I haven't quoted you because it didn't want to use quotes for some reason.
In other news, I like my Wii U, but the games aren't exactly fantabuloso. Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8 are amazing though, so that's at least a selling point.

I was just stating what Ive heard and that is Nintendo is already working on a new console to match x1 and ps4. Just doesnt make a lot of since to buy a wiiU NOW if you havent already. I personally would wait it out unless I absolutely HAD to play smash brothers or zelda.

I got a Wii U just so I could get Mario Kart 8. For me, it was worth it.

Tip: Buy a Wii. Not a Wii U, a Wii. Hack it, play all the awesome games (SSB and MKW are popular online still) and you've got yourself a cheap, great console and media center!

Erm, the wii U is backwards compatible and plays all wii games at upscaled 1080p. Plus, Nintendo WiFi connection no longer exists so you can't play MKWii online no more. Just emulate it or play it on your Wii U.

A bunch of guys made a custom server called Wiimmfi before WiFi shut down and you can still play some games online. Look it up on YouTube to see how you can get it. MrBean35000VR made a good tutorial video on how to get Wiimmfi. Also it requires having the Homebrew channel on your Wii. There are tutorials on how to get that as well.

Interesting. I looked into Homebrew a little but I've never done anything like that with a console so it didn't look like it was that helpful for the work involved. I'll need to read more about it.

The secondary grill on the Virgo is very reminiscent of a Torino. It's fun to cruise in.
