So as you all may or may not be aware by now, Nodo has transitioned its official live chat client support over to Discord.
It has now been over three years since this Slack was created after shifting over from Skype. It is too much of a waste for it to just be closed down and forgotten about, especially since there are many people that not only use it to chat whilst gaming but also to simply socialise.
So with that in mind Slack will be staying but will no longer be an official Nodo chat client (that can be found over on Discord - information on how to sign up can be found
here). By and large, things will remain the same as before except for maybe a small reshuffle of chats etc and you will still need to sign up and request an invite.
Now that the formalities are out of the way, everything you need to know about signing up can be found below.
Slack is text based and is a very powerful tool for that. It's slick, easy to use, and has many additional features you can add to customise your experience how you want it. It can be used in your browser or by downloading a desktop app, and mobile apps are also available. For additional info or support, ask your questions in this thread!
Slack has multiple "channels", meaning you log into the slack team and you pick any number of channels to join, ie. PS3, PS4, PC, etc. Any channel that isn't relevant to you won't show up if you don't joint them.
To sign up to Slack
1. Read the
community guidelines.2. Follow the
steps to be verified.4.Post in this thread that you want to sign up. You will be sent an invite to the email address that you used to sign up to this forum.
Access it here
nodoretirementhome.slack.com after you have received the invite by email.
If you wish to use an alternative email address then send me a private message with the title “Slack” and your alternative email in the main body.
Why the email address for Slack?
Your email address will be visible on your Slack profile.
The one drawback with slack is that the email you use to sign up is publicly visible if someone looks hard enough into your profile. You must make sure that you aren't worried about people knowing the email address you sign up with. If you are, simply create a new email account for slack. Trust me, it's worth it. Requiring your email address to be posted in this thread is a verification that you're happy to sign up to slack with it - if it's going to be public on there, you shouldn't be worrying about it being public on here. Again if you are, just create a new email account. Of course once you're on slack you're welcome to come back here and edit your post to remove your email address, so it's not here for the remainder of time.
UPDATE:If you would like an invite to Slack and have followed the steps outlined in the OP, you will receive an email to the address you signed up on the forums with. However, it may take a little while to get that to you. If you would like a quick add, please either send me a private message on the forums containing the email address you would like to use, or put it in your post in this thread. I check the thread most days so quicker adds can be made that way as I am no longer a moderator and do not have the permissions to see your forum emails anymore.
