The Order 1886 has been released! Do you plan on buying this game? I've seen a bit of it by TheRadBrad, and Story/Gameplay is awesome!

I've seen a quicklook of the game on giantbomb and I wasn't that impressed by it. I really love that sort of steampunk ish style it has but strip that away and you're left with a very standard third person cover shooter. Watching the gameplay gave me a very been there done that feeling. It's also incredibly short, some reviewers said that even if you don't rush through the game you'll be looking at about 6 hours of gameplay. I don't plan to pay full retail price for just 6 hours of gameplay without any extra's to keep me coming back to the game.

The game looks incredible, even just from the YouTube gameplay, and is quite possibly one the best games I've seen, and I can't believe I'm saying that when I'm a pretty hardcore PC fanboy. However, the game is reportedly mediocre at best, only 5 hours long and is full of cutscenes and quicktime events. Only the super-biased PS4 magazines are giving it good scores. So no, I wouldn't think of it as worth buying. However, I haven't played it myself and I don't have a PS4 so you might want to pick it up.

I think I'm still going to get it....as soon as it's released in my area.
All these stories of the 5-6 hour playthrough time originated from a Let's Play where the player just sped through the game to completion, without any side missions and also skipping certain cutscenes. I think the fact that this game was hyped up so much for so long really damaged the outcome. Sort of like what happened to Evolve and a few others this year. Granted, for how long it's been in development, it should look/play like a AAA game. From what I've read, it seems like that absolutely nailed the "look" part. The QTE's aren't something I look for, but the company was going for a more movie-like experience (just look to the widescreen bars) while still keeping the player involved. Also, I haven't played a Gears of War type game in awhile, so it doesn't bother me too much. Really, the relatively short campaign doesn't matter much either. I'm still playing through Dragon Age and Alien Isolation, so it would be nice to have a shorter game for once.
It's a shame that the game didn't quite live up to it's potential, but I think there's still value in it that I'd like to experience.
