If you quit races before the end often, is that a reason for being kicked/demoted/banned, or is it just frowned upon? Reason I'm asking is I got disconnected like 10 or 15 times yesterday. Couple of times when I was in last or right after I (accidently) knocked someone off track, or stuff like that.
I never rage-quit, not even when I'm last with a 45 sec gap, but to others I guess it seems like I did.
Slightly offtopic: I hope the DC's won't get worse when GTA for PC gets launched.

Does this happen often? if you are not using a wired connection yet, please try to do so. It will help a LOT.
Other than that, I'm quite sure you will not get kicked for disconnecting (or even rage quitting). I can't say how others feel about this when it happens, but personally I don't really care unless it's me or someone I'm having a battle with. And even then it's just a shame, not an issue.

I'm on wireless for now. Reason for that is I can't get the UTP cable through the wall (plug's too big for the duct, and don't know how to re-attach when cut) and the wife isb't to happy with a 30m cable in the open around the livingroom. But thanks for answering We're planning to switch providers soon, so maybe we can get the cableguy to fix it for us, and that will hopefully sort our connection/lag issues.

I dare speak for most of us when I say we care more about lagging players than people that DC or just quit. Lagging players can actually cause harm for others, while DCs are just.. Yeah, too bad, better luck next time. What I said about the wired connection is of course all about stability. Wireless signals get interrupted a lot, so even if you have all the speed in the world, that fast signal just gets lost from time to time, causing lag or even a DC. Wired connections don't have this issue. If you want to make your WiFi more stable you could probably do several things of which I know nothing of, but I guess it has something to do with: - Distance to router - Objects between system and router - Quality of router? - Too many other WiFi networks on the same channel - Notanexpertjusttryingtohelpandspeculate

Both can be bought at most hardware stores for a couple of bucks. Wireless sucks ass for gaming...

You may recieve some lame messagges from some ill-mannered people who were in the race with you afterwards but, as long as you stand your ground and fix issues causing you to dc, you will be fine bro And, yeah having wired connection is a must in my opinion, I switched to wired after joining NODO and had no dc on any events or races I took part in.

I know what it's like to DC a lot. It seems whenever I'm in a lobby with certain people my connection plays up. Turning to quitting, I've never understood it. If you're losing/far behind/annoyed, don't quit, just pull over to the side and take a break. Reason why I have so many losses compared to others (and the fact I'm not the best driver) is because I never quit races

Thnx for the replies and tips guys! As for the plug, I tried the ones you can squeeze with normal pliers, and I tried with one of those tools, but after wasting like 6 or 7 plugs with no succes I gave up. When we change providers I need an UTP for the TV-Decoder anyway, so I think I'll place the modem/router right next to the TV then instead of in the hallcloset where the meters are (don't know how to say it right in English) Then an uninterupted shorter cable will do.
