Hey there, I'm going to be joining the crew very soon, but I want to get all the vehicle upgrades before I join. But I don't want to go back to the world of uncompetitive racing after I've gotten all the upgrades. I currently have a semi race ready Comet that will be ready to go come the time I join but I don't have any other vehicle. Is it acceptable to race the stock cars whilst I rack up my money to purchase semi decent cars in other categories. I realise I'm going to be far from competitive, but I would like to get my feet wet in the competitive racing scene ASAP.
Or would you guys suggest an alternative way of getting money to get better cars before I join up.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

Stock cars are fine here, but be prepared to DNF quite a lot. I wouldn't recommend using a comet for sports races if you want to be at all competitive, as fun as it may be to drive. Instead look at something like a Jester Racecar or a solid budget option would be a Feltzer. Try to complete your daily objectives for some potentially easy money and sell cars such as ballers or gang vehicles (google it) for some quick cash. Other than that just try to aim to get competive cars for each class one by one and try not to buy useless shit. What console are you on?

I would suggest doing the heists with the same group of people and in order, it will net you $3million+ enough to buy race cars, please refer to broughy1332 videos for good racing vehicles, like james said comet isn't the best racing sports car, I would suggest 3 possible cars: massacro (rc), jester (rc) and the feltzer. The elegy has great potential however is not consistent unless you are a master with it, in regards to nodo members i most often see the massacro rc.

Thanks for the info.
The Comet I really do love and I actually thought it would be ok to drive in the races and be competitive. The Feltzer does seem like a reasonable option to change to though due to it being a top contender, and with the mods i've made to the Comet can be an easy exchange. I might get the rest of my wins I need with the Comet and then do a trade in for the Feltzer. Is there a budget racer for the supercar class? because there's really only the big 3 (Entity, Zentorno and Turismo).
I'm on PS4.

The Elegy might not be a bad idea, I've got one in my garage and it's free, so it could be a good starting vehicle. The Heists seem like a good idea but I don't have any one to play consistently with, and I've never been one for communication with random players. I still haven't got the Casco yet due to playing with complete fools. Maybe what James said about the daily objectives would fair me better, I've heard they become quite good income if done consistently.

the elegy is definitely not a beginners car though. just look to our heists crew board, add a few up, find a team you like and your good to go. casco is not best racing car, the pigalle or z-type are best.
EDIT: I will put it this way, while the elegy may have the best potential, it is very rare for someone to harness it, especially consistently.

I feel like you might have been mislead somewhere as to what makes a car competitive. Most cars can bode well in a racing situation, it's all about driving style and personal preference. The Elegy is going to be an extremely quick car whether or not you "master" it or not and I even remember when it was the noob car to have because of how easy it is to own and drive. I would recommend driving a variety of cars and finding which ones suit you the best instead of going through the fastest cars list and selecting #1 in each class. I have found that I usually enjoy "slower" cars in a class and wish that other people would see the fastest cars videos as a guide and not a bible.

I like your point of view there Jon. I like the Comet very much and like that patience = reward feel I have with it. But also if I maybe wanted to be somewhat competitive straight away with me being fairly new to the racing scene, an Elegy might be a good option to start with until I improve my skills. It's not a bad car to drive, just a bit boring in my opinion.

ahh okay jon, i was just basing upon my personal experience regarding attempting to race against NoDo members in cars that I liked the feel of, eg I love the feel of the ruffian, but even with a flawless lap I would be beaten by akuma's and bati's.

Maybe you don't need to upgrade all of your cars fully before joining perhaps you could get a load of cars and halfway upgrade them to keep on the pace

Well so far with my competitive racing debut yesterday, I found the Comet needs a lot more momentum, Braking earlier to prevent the back end from sliding out, and getting on the gas earlier but smooth seems to be the key with the Comet. But that's easier said than done as I struggled when I was pushed to my limit and still getting used to the tracks. The top sports cars can do it all so better. But as a car update, I have a top muscle, sedan and coupe car ready to be modified, but I'm saving up for a super which will be the Voltic which I could imagine everyone has just raised there eyebrows at just reading it. But I have past experience with the Voltic and we get on very well.
