I haven't played GTA Online in probably over a month, and I feel ashamed of myself for it because I'm a part of such an awesome group of people that enjoy racing and I haven't done it in so long. So I ask this: What do you guys do to kind of spark your interest in racing again when it becomes boring/repetitive/frustrating? Back when I did race every day, I found myself being demotivated because I just wasn't good enough to keep up with people yet, and that added on to the whole "getting bored" thing. I figured the Heists update would help me get back into the game, but it really hasn't considering my friends don't even play the game anymore.

I've had the same problem in the past, and there is no one solution to it. For me, I got myself involved in every event I could. I try stuff New, whether that be messing around in free roam killing random people in an insurgent, or doing races with ramps and stuff. Don't feel like you have to constantly race on GTA because your in a group of racers, do other things from time to time.

Step 1: get a group of 4 people. Step 2: complete all 5 heists with them. Step 3: use the money to buy some some competitive cars that you havn't driven before. Step 4: start to use your favorite car in races and get used to it. Step 5: enjoy!
This happend to me as well, especially with sports car races. I didn't have a sport car I enjoyed while I had almost all of them. I drove the Banshee, Sultan, Jester (RC), Massacro, Elegy RH8 and Comet in races but I didn't really have the experience to be good with any of them. I loved how the Banshee drove, but it's so much off the pace. And all the other cars were boring after one lap. But then I bought a Feltzer.. And man I'm in love with it. If I want variation I just switch over to a differend class, someting what should happen more often. But for the sports class, I don't want anyting else, and I enjoy every single race in the Feltzer because I know I'm getting better with it every lap!

Recently I've been playing deathmatches, I've found that lots of fun (when people don't use helmets(Scum)). Striving to unlock something keeps me motivated to play the game, for example: the weapon tints, Valkyrie (best pegasus vehicle in the game imo), GTAPlayerhaters status, when you get 10,000 player kills you you become verified I'm at 7932 at the time of writing this,
Another thing I like to do is create races, LTSs, Captures and Deathmatches. Theses are all fun (when people join them).
Racing is fun, but without a doubt, there's loads of other ways to have fun in GTA.

I had this quite a lot in the past. I found doing new game modes help a lot. Captures are a good one to do, my favourite being Raid: High Road as I know all the best places to defend and attack from. If you're getting bored with a certain car, I found changing the paint scheme on it makes it seem like a new car almost. I recently just changed the colours of every car I have. Sometimes it's just a matter of taking a break. GTA is a great game, but with only 2 DLCs since PS4 and XB1 came out, it's become pretty stale. Hopefully more DLCs will be released. I'm hoping for some new cars, the Heists update was great, it lasted about 3 weeks for me, which is long for a DLC in GTA since some have lasted less than an hour for me. In short, just try new things, new game modes, new cars. Even do some different races here and there, like ramp races, random races, etc. It doesn't have to be serious racing 24/7 on GTA, there's so much variety in the game and it needs to played like that.

I figured the Heists update would help me get back into the game, but it really hasn't considering my friends don't even play the game anymore. I understand what you're saying. It happens to me sometimes, not only in GTA Online but gaming in general. After playing games on a regular basis I hit the limit where I don't get the kick out of it. I think it's just a natural reaction, after all gaming is a form of entertainment, and I need a refreshment every now and then to keep myself entertained. I don't watch the same movies and TV series over and over either. I just needed a perspective change. When I'm starting to feel bored with a game, I need to take a break of it for a while, whether it's a week or two, or even a couple of months. If I try to keep going with a game I don't enjoy playing, it starts to feel like a chore and it kills all of its entertainment value. You certainly shouldn't feel "ashamed" being a part of a crew just because you don't feel motivated to play so much right now! I don't think anyone here judges you for not being one of the most active or the fastest racers. I'm not a long-time member here, but I'm under the impression that the main thing is to have fun and enjoy clean racing with each other. It's all comes down to a personal preference. Right now I'm not playing so much, maybe a few hours a week on GTA Online. It makes my racecraft rusty, but I'm not that worried about being slow on pace. TL;DR - Don't worry if you don't feel like playing right now, find where your limit is and enjoy it when you feel like it.

For me being new to the scene, it's about aspiring to be like a gunit123 or a Picano or a broughy. I've found this new addiction where I just love to race against people who have the same respect as what I have and you can have good races knowing they aren't going to send you flying off into a wall. For me it's the only thing I enjoy doing on GTA, because I find all the other disciplines frustrating to compete in. There are so many goals just within the GTA race scene to achieve, that first race win, that fastest lap, that perfect race. And the battles you can have are just so fun, when your with a player with the same skill level, you can have such fun. and it doesn't matter if your 1st, 5th or last, having that battle with someone feels better than any win. I'm fan boying quite hard right now lol.
But I guess what I'm saying is, it's how you see it. Instead of feeling beat every time you can't keep up, that should be your motivation to try harder and eventually compete with the top guys.

I haven't ever gotten bores of racing in GTA at all, but because of my timezone there's always a certain point every day where really nobody is doing anything I want to do (which is racing, as I really don't care for anything else in the game NEARLY as much), so I will just go play a different game for awhile and wait it out.

I play a mixture of different games to keep any one of them from getting stale. And to keep GTA interesting, I add one or two new friends every week. The different dynamic that emerges from playing with different people keeps things fresh as I'm always exploring different sections of the game and different areas of the map. For example, this week I stumbled upon a few people who really like off-roading. We find different parts of the map that seem impossible to climb and then find ways to climb it. Last week I was doing a lot of death matches. The week before that was a lot of Lazer/Hydra dogfights. And when no one I know is online and the lobbies seem full of asshats, I load up a random race or even do a solo race to improve my own skill. When the inevitable 360 network errors rear their ugly heads, I'll even dick around in story mode.
But if you're bored with GTA, there's no reason to feel ashamed. Play something else for a while and then come back to GTA when you're ready. I don't think anyone is going to judge you for that. It is just a game, after all.

Sorry to hear you've hit a low spot! Like others have said, play some different games, or play other game modes on GTA for a bit.
And if you're looking for a NODO driver that is a bit of a scrub (i.e., not on the pace with the top guys) but who still likes to race clean, hit me up.

Unlock Thorn in Destiny. You will want to come crying back to GTA.

If you're getting discouraged because of not being able to keep up with others, hit them up. Try to see if you can work out a time where you can both get on and you can either follow them around or get some tips and pointers from them. You can't expect to get better if you don't try different things.

If I was you I would re-customise your vehicles because it literally feels like you own a new car after. Also when I changed the colour of my car it made me feel as if I went around the track alit faster although I was getting the same lap times:)
If that dont work I strongly advise you to attempt the playlist I made its on my social club - ParadoxRemixGTA its a legit WRC Playlist! Trust me, you want to get onto tarmac after it;) Hope that helped:)

It's summer! I suggest you don't try to find a way to like playing again. I'd rather be outside doing RL stuff! If the love for the game is there, tho, you will find the spark again eventually.
About the 'not being fast enough': that should be your motivation, not discouragement! If you really want to keep up, you have to love finding the proper lines through a circuit, being consistent and eventually setting a lower time every next lap! Focus on improving yourself on the track, not on winning a race. Get satisfaction out setting better lap times, driving clean laps and having battles with other players (even if you lose them). If you can do this, winning a race or even keeping up with the fastest racers won't be an issue anymore. And if you do, it will be even more rewarding: you have improved yourself so much that it payed off! GG Me! Let's keep this flowing...
