Just curious to see what everyone thinks about arguably the biggest "rock" bands right now. My vote is for The Black Keys, their music just works better for me, but I still love The Arctic Monkeys also.

The first Arctic Monkeys record is one of favourite all time albums so it'd have to be them for me!

Arctic Monkeys first album is... ...their worst. *drops mic* This is tough, I'd probably say Keys right now. I feel like they've got a bad rep for some reason, people don't like what's 'mainstream', especially when their early stuff was so powerful, yet I doubt they could name many songs other than singles in the last 5 years. That said, Arctic Monkeys seem more popular and I don't want to get into fanbases because it's not something that crosses my mind when I'm listening to the music and people can listen to what they want, but if your fave Monkeys isn't Humbug I don't trust you (sorry averageloz ). I get the feeling they've bored themselves with this weird image and I don't know who they're keeping it up for. Glasto 2013 was fantastic but just look at some of their slightly dull 2014 shows. Jazz it up.
Last year was pretty disappointing musically and Turn Blue was probably my favourite album released in 2014 (I probably listened to QOTSA more than anything though). I really like both bands.

Like both, but the Monkeys take it for me.

I don't know about black keys, I do know the first two albums of Arctic Monkeys and liked those. They say Tjezc changes when the sun goes down. Indeed I do.

When it comes to rock music I prefer bands like Audioslave, Them Crooked Vultures, or Muse. Though I usually listen to old stuff like Rainbow, van Halen, Queen, Deep Purple, Led Zeplin etc. Definitely wouldn't call the Arctic Monkeys or the Black Keys the biggest rock bands right now. Not sure how you would determine what is the biggest (rock)band right now anyway, seems kinda arbitrary.
As an example, I absolutely love Dream Theather and they're a sell out act everywhere they go. You don't hear them on any public radiostation though or see them on TV. Does this mean they're not big? Because their fanbase would definitely disagree with that.

Yeah I understand what you mean, it is hard to prove the most popular rock bands, seeing that rock isn't as mainstream anymore. I also love Led Zeppelin!
