What is iRacing?[Stolen from Wikipedia]: " iRacing.com is an online, subscription-based motor racing simulation service for Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X created by iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations. In addition to accurately modeled vehicles and tracks, iRacing provides servers on which to race and practice and a sanctioning body to organize and oversee competition within the service.
From the start, iRacing has been marketed as both an entertainment service and a training tool for real life racers.[1] They have established numerous partnerships with real-world racing organizations and series, including NASCAR, IndyCar, V8 Supercars, the SCCA, the Skip Barber Racing School, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, the Star Mazda Championship and Williams F1 among others.""Must-have" gear and software? You should have a racing wheel to use iRacing. It is possible to use a gamepad, but it is really not recommended. At all. Trading Paints: This software allows you to use, see, download and share fully custom paint schemes. Want to run the paint of your favorite driver? Check the showroom to see if someone's made it! Want to run a paint for your neighbor's porcupine grooming service? Download the car's template, open up your favorite image editor, and get painting! Additional software to consider: iRacing Setup SynciSpeedJimmie Johnson Spotter Pack iRaceDash (iOS & Android app)VIDEOS:And, of course, the wonder that is rookie Street Stocks: This is why your goal is always to get out of rookies. What's being worked on now?:
Plus more! Anyother iRacers out there?

I was once tempted by iRacing, but the costs involved at the time far outweighed the benefits.
Anyone wanting to look into what iRacing can be like from a drivers perspective should check out TacticalCardboard on youtube, he races it and many other simulation games.

I too was tempted, but as with method0ne I was scared off by the costs involved.

Fair point, the cost is one of the downsides to it.

Yup, iRacing is magnificent, truly organized, clean (for the most part) racing sim.
Shame it costs an arm and a leg.
For now i'll just watch Empty Box play it.
