Hello NoDo,if you don't want to read all my rambling)
Obviously this thread was made to introduce my first Race, it was initially just a learning project but I think it's actually pretty fun!
The Race: RGSC - Over Hills and Valleys
{Click for Course Map}
{Click for Description}
- Race Type: Point To Point
- Route Length: 2.35 miles
- Vehicle Classes: Cycles, Motorcycles
_Point-to-point offroad course for the Sanchez. A few grueling climbs and some dangerous descents. Keep an eye on your map but let the terrain guide you to the peaks. Watch your speed coming over the ridges. If you take flight be prepared to stick the landing. Non-contact recommended.
I disabled (I think) all sports bikes but left road bikes/choppers, if you try these out please give input.- Race Type: Point To Point

When I decided to start learning and playing around with the creator, I decided it would be a good learning experience to try to design an off-road course specifically for the Sanchez. My reasoning was that if I can create something decent or fun over uneven terrain, without any real roads to work with, it would give me a good idea of the limitations of the Creator and my own abilities and imagination.
Intent and Design Philosophy:
I've always enjoyed watching Trials Riding, as well as Hill Climbs - I wanted to create a point-to-point incorporating some elements of these awesome sports. I also wanted to create a course which would require the racer to read the terrain, use the map and knowledge of the bike's capabilities to navigate / choose the best path. Sometimes using the brakes will help you make faster times ;o)
Note:Some checkpoints may seem very poorly placed / confusing / blocked by static props - these are very likely intentional. I wanted the downhill and fast sections to be 'dangerous', requiring some quick reactions and mid-air adjustments.
This race is honestly "too easy" with an upgraded Sanchez, having that Turbo (hahaha...) makes the Hill Climb portions effortless.
Trials Riding Example:
I cruised around the map and found an interesting set of hills with some good rocky / difficult areas. I didn't know at the time about any Creator Glitches or using Props to set checkpoints in otherwise impossible areas, so I felt really constrained by the terrain - but I think this helped me get a feel for how to design a (hopefully) easy-to-read course around the constraints of the game world. Essentially I rode around different areas on a stock Sanchez and created checkpoints based on what seemed fun / challenging.

Final note: That last ramp is not a troll, it's just difficult to hit at full speed - I've done it several times but not very consistently.
