Well I know a lot of people that love their bikes and even use them around freeroam but I guess everyone has their own opinion. Personally I think that bikes are really really boring and that there isn't much to bike racing. I know GTA isn't excactly a driving simulator but the traction bikes are given is way way too arcady for me and also extremly rediculous which means you can take half the corners flat out. So what you end up with is doing wheelies 80% of the race and the rest will be about braking (braking points are really not that difficult, you just brake extremely late) and cornering (again bikes dont oversteer or understeer so that is relatively easy too) . I am not saying that bike racing is nothing and takes no skill at all but the combination of all those things I mentioned be4 will make me choose another class instead of bikes any day of the year. When it comes to Utility I don't have any problem racing with them (even though I don't have custom) but I think most people will use them for GTA races and they are best suited for that. Finally Vans are quite ok and I believe there can be some competitive racing with them (although I don't have custom again). Yeah I have to agree although bikes are the fastest class they're definitely dull to race in.There's also virtually no attacking and defending and they're easy to drive. Also vans can be pretty fun if you've plenty of people. But the no contact rule tends to go flying out the window as no one takes it too seriously.

the traction bikes are given is way way too arcady This is the entire reason I hate bikes in this game. Even in the rain, the only thing that gets affected on Bikes is their turning radius. They don't ever lose traction, regardless of how fast you take corners.

Bike races can be fun if done properly. You'll need to make a track that is more suited to bikes though. Lots of hairpins and stuff like that.

I think each of those classes are unpopular for quite a few reasons.
Vans: They are only available on races with a large starting grid, making them rarely usable. The Bison dominates the class utterly and entirely, meaning it is very closed as far as vehicle choice goes. Their slow speed is very boring and discourages people from racing them.
Utility: So slow that all fun has been sucked right out of the game. Having a Sadler is an automatic win. Major commitment of time to try to race the class.
Bikes: Turning and braking are so broken that you may as well hand the trophy over to whomever doesn't eat it. Speaking of the devil, falling off is extremely inconvenient and effectively costs you the race regardless of the length. The biggest factor in winning isn't cornering or defending, it's wheelieing.

Could not have said it better myself. Precisely why I do not own a van or utility anymore. I like my Bati to play with in free roam and I like using the Bifta to race with on the road because racing sanchez's is just slower motorbike racing. That being said I really want to encourage the ps3 side guys to ditch the sanchez and get a Bifta so we can race offroad on the road. Just like the aforementioned reasoning, we never race offroad and I want more variety.

I like street bike racing, but only if it's technical and not only a wheelie-contest. I favor my Akuma over my Bati, unless it's a 'no catch-up/non-contact' race with lots of straights.
On tracks with straights and minor curves, a Bifta will own a Sanchez, but in the technical stuff a Sanchez is competitive. I'll likely use my Sanchez over my Bifta, because 100% of the time with randoms, there'll likely be other Sanchez's that are wheelie-happy.
Van racing is good fun. I have my shark-emblazed Paradise which I hardly use, but can't bring to sell.
Utility is a novelty race when you're just looking to have random, GTA-killing, bumper car fun.

I don't think a utility or van race is ever played with the intentions of having a competitive race and that's why that class is never raced bikes however can be raced competitively but there is so much random crap aside from lampposts which I understand for authenticity but other than that I hate lampposts. If you take a curb wrong on a bike you go flying. I'd say that bikes are best suited to traffic races but in Gta online even mild lag+traffic are horrible combinations in any class not just bikes which is why bikes are rarely raced in my opinion. Although bikes can be fun in free roam or as an alternative to either of the armoured police vehicles a fully upgraded paradise can be fun for five stars as you can have two people shooting out the back with MGs.
