UPDAAAAATESLag lag lag lag lag lag lag LAGGGITY LAAAAAAG, LAGGGGITY LAGGG"I'll have the lag lag lag lag eggs bacon lag and lag."
You can't have racing in GTA, it seems, without some sort of desynchronisation occurring. The game does not have dedicated servers but rather a p2p based connection model, so geography can and will play a difference.
Each driver in SATCC is responsible for ensuring they manage desync, either their own or with others. In the event a lag hit occurs and you're called out for it, you wait.
EVEN IF ESPECIALLY IF it didn't happen on your screen. If you feel it's unfair, sorry - blame R*. But if you think it's unfair and don't wait, I've got a black flag just for you.
The opening post has some critical information on it which you should absolutely pay attention to:
Each driver's nationality is listed. This adds a little bit of realism and depth to the event but more crucially it lets you know where people on the grid are from.
Know the nationalities and you'll know who you can push to overtake and who you need to be careful with.
New trackOne of the TBC tracks has been filled.
It was always my intent, since the airport was open, to build a circuit that mirrored Monza in Italy. Revisiting that concept with
Oh_Darn, especially after running the real Monza in F1 cars in project CARS, we were able to stage a recreation of the track with the two "Variants" (della rettifilo and della Roggia), the curva grande, the lesmos, parabolica - all of it.
Darn is just finalising a few tweaks but I'm in love with this circuit and I know you guys will be too. It's fast but with heavy braking zones at the chicanes. The track narrows at a few points, allowing for good defending, but also opens up.
It will be clarified at the time but it goes without saying dirt boosting is banned.
I will link it up a bit later in the OP, but Darn can link here if he wants first.
The second TBC track will be announced shortly. I'm working on a layout which is a bit different in parts to SATCC tracks of old. It'll be a night race. The first sector is pure speed; the second requires good grip, and the third is all about short sprints from turn to turn. Each car on the calendar should be strong here.
ReservesIf you're appointing a reserve for any weekend, there's a few things to note.
1) the reserve fits the neons of the car they're replacing. So if I had to sub out, I'd have my reserve with the yellows. But if Ovivo had to sub out, his reserve would run red (etc etc).
2) The driver who is absent - so, for example, this Friday
doompenguin will be away so he's being subbed for - will need to play his "lowest scores dropped" car if he doesn't want 2 x 0pts to be counted.
3) If you're hiring a reserve you need to have them appointed 24hrs before the start of the race and need to ensure they know the event rules as a normal racer would.
Salt, your tracks, your ideas, etcI'm sorry to have to be This Guy about it, but...
I don't owe anyone anything with respect of seats, car choices, liveries, or tracks. I know you guys work hard on your tracks, and I know a lot of them time you
genuinely believe your suggestion or request is the right one for the event, but if I make a decision on a track or a car or whatever, there are a list of criteria I apply:
i. Suitability
ii. Drivability - it has to flow. A section of ridiculously technical turns is useless and not a lot of fun; a track with no overtaking is no good.
iii. Theme - it has to feel right
Notice, please, how "spite" isn't on the list? Nor is favouritism?
I don't make choices to spite people. You don't have to like my choices, but if you don't know why I made them I'm not sure assuming the worst is the best way to go.
And given all my tracks now (save the one I'm working on) have been remade - Zan Cudochamps, Blaine NW, Exit 4A 1-Way (though technically a Nos track), Del Perro - you can rule ego out too. Ego and spite, two factors I don't consider when putting the event together.
The salt needs to stop.
Pre-race Twitch streamNos and I will be doing a pre-season show from the offices of
Damage, Inc on Prospect St, Del Perro. We will be taking audience questions that aren't shit (!), as well as looking at the season ahead and discussing the prospects for some teams and drivers. Other expert panellists are a surprise!
If you don't already follow Nos on Twitch, you should:
www.twitch.tv/sugar_free_nosNote: Donating to him is a good idea as it will be used to upgrade hardware (he only buys guns and drugs as a CEO
). It does not however count as a bribe...
It's not going to be doable every race but if there's sufficiently good feedback and interest I'd like to see it expanded. I might even rebrand my company to "Cloud Sports" for the occasion.
Season 4 is going to be epic!
