Xbox One Weekday Racing Series
Time: 9PM UTC, Tuesday and Thursday
You do not need to own a fully-upgraded version of each vehicle. We will often utilize GTA mode to spawn everyone a fully upgraded car. This is done by you stealing someone's car, they respawn in your vehicle, now you both have the fully upgraded car. However, you are expected to own a competitive vehicle in each of the eleven main categories. These are: Compacts, Coupes, Motorcycles, Muscle, Off-Road, Sedans, Sports, Sports Classics, Supers, SUVs, Utility and Vans. If you are unsure which car to choose, a good place to start is Broughy's testing, which can be found here. Keep in mind that the testing only represents outright pace and does not take into account consistency, ease to drive or your personal driving style.
This is my attempt at recreating PC's daily racing playlists. I want there to be a place where new members can have an introduction to NoDo, people like me who have messed up time zones can know others will be online and racing, and basically a place we can all get together and have some fun squeezing every tiny bit of speed out of our cars. After all, that's what we're all here for, right?
Signup:
As detailed below, you must be on Slack for this event. In order to participate, simply be online at the required time and have the host (Jackimo1999) on your friends list. We will be using a temporary room, to be advised on the day. If you can't find us, ask in one of the other chats or send me a message and we can help you out. Once you're on Slack, let us know you're there and I'll send you an invite, provided there is room available. If more than 30 racers wish to participate, it will be first come, first serve.
Rules:
1. Having a headset and having NoDo set as your active crew are both not required, but highly recommended.
2. Follow the NODO racing rules.
3. Listen to race-specific rules. We will often ask you to use a certain car, or wait at the start so we can spawn cars for those that don't have them.
4. Although some races may be set to GTA mode, use of weapons is not permitted. The only exception is that at the end of races fireworks or flares may be shot into the air to celebrate. Firing at racers is strictly banned, under any circumstances. Sticky bombs may also be used to signal the start of the race by the race coordinator only.
5. You may join or leave mid-way through the event. If you only want to participate in a couple of races, that is perfectly fine. You may come and go as you please.
Failure to follow rules will lead to loss of an invite for at least one week, but may be longer depending on the severity of the offense, and willingness to cooperate.
Slack:
Everyone must use Slack for this event. Details on how to join can be found here. Don't worry about whether you can use it on your device. Either you can, or I admire your ability to browse the forums on your xbox. The Slack app is available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, PC, Mac, you name it, and can also be used in browser.
Activities:
The activities work on a three item rotation. There will be a playlist, an endurance race and a random event, in that order. This means that over three weeks, six events will be held, with each day hosting each type of event once. This gives people that can only show up to one day a bit of variety, rather than just being 12-race playlists. The tracks and classes will always go up at least one week in advance.
Playlists:
The first spot on the rotation is a more or less a standard playlist. It may or may not be themed but one thing's for sure, it will encourage competitive racing in a variety of classes. The playlist will consist of 10-12 races, with no classes being repeated. The possible classes are: Compacts, Coupes, Muscle, Off-Road, Sedans, Sports, Sports Classics, Supers, SUVs, Utility and Vans, not necessarily in that order. Other land classes may take up the twelfth spot, such as motorcycles or industrial, or one of the main classes may reappear. Tracks can be old favourites, new creations only seen by a handful of racers or anything in between. The length of these races is decided on the track length. Laps are set to exceed the lengths set out below:
(all lengths in miles)
Compacts- 12.73
Coupes- 14.22
Muscle- 14.23
Off-Road- 13.92
Sedans- 14.54
Sports- 15.2
Sports Classics- 14.46
Supers- 15.61
SUVs- 13.45
Utility- 12.02
Vans- 12.35
Endurance Playlists:
Endurance playlists will consist of three different tracks. We will run through the playlist once on non-contact, completing two laps on each track. The results of these races will be used to decide the starting grid of the actual races, with first going at the front. After qualifying, we will restart the playlist. The actual races will be 30 minutes long, based on the fastest qualifying time. The lap calculator can be found here.
Random:
The third spot is taken up by a whatever day. This could range from a playlist all in one car or manufacturer to showcasing a particular creator, beta testing upcoming events or even full-blown multi-class endurance races! The possibilities are endless.
With all of these, if you have a track you would like to appear, a car you'd like to race, an idea for a theme, anything, post here or message me with the concept and I will do everything I can to get it to work. You can also submit full playlists, as long as they meet certain requirements.
Time and Weather:
All races have a 10% chance of rain. This will be randomised immediately before the race, via random.org. All races also have an even chance of morning, noon or night, which will also be randomly selected just before the race.

All these races will be in stock cars. The playlist will function similar to an endurance playlist in that we'll run though it once, on non-contact, with each race set to one lap. The results of those races will then be used to decide the length of the main races, with each race aiming to be as close to 15 minutes as possible. However, there will be no qualifying. Simply go when the game says go.

Leaderboard and scoring:
There are two scoring systems in place. One for within the playlists and one that operates outside of them. Neither are very long term, so newcomers can compete.
For within the individual playlists, we will be using a slightly modified version of the V8 Supercars scoring system. This system rewards consistency more than individual wins and gives points to all finishers, not just those in the top ten. Anybody that is in the lobby and racing at the end will classify. If you disconnect or pull over to the side of the road, however, you will be considered a DNF for that race. If you then rejoin for later races, you will continue to earn points, as if you never left. Except there'll be a hole in the scoresheet. Oh, well.
For the endurance playlists, the two types of races will be worth different amounts. The standard points system will be used for qualifying, with the top qualifier earning 75 points, like in a normal race, bit for the endurance races themselves, 4 times as many points will be awarded, so first place will be worth 300 points, second place will be worth 276 points and so on with 30th place earning 24 points.
For the overarching leaderboard, a very similar system is in place. This system takes the overall result of the previous three playlists and adds them together, using the same points system, but you also get a multiplier for each event you participate in. For example, if Racer1 came 30th three playlists in a row, he would have 6 points per playlist, to make a total of 18, multiplied by the number of playlists he participated in. So 18*3=54. But if Racer2 only showed up to one playlist, but got first place, he would have 75 points. This rewards regular attendance more than outright pace.
