How do I limit my fps? And where is the settings ini file, so I can record while playing at 60fps? Use V-sync (set your monitor refresh rate to 60Hz) or any external fps limiter. I can't use vsync, it kills my pc, I need it capped, not locked to the refresh rate.

Uncool. Dont be a dick about it. @zenvohh, pls. When you're not at your keys, you can't "just" look up things.

LeStevsDrifts (@steev) I´m using RivaTuner to lock my fps to 60, it´s basically a program that comes with MSI Afterburner. So if you can´t find Rivatuner itself just install MSI Afterburner and when you install it it will ask you if you want to install Rivatuner too, you can uninstall MSI Afterburner afterwards if you don´t need it. It´s probably not the best/easiest way to lock your FPS but it works for me.

I have a copy of dxtory, but I didn't know it could cap my fps. Also I'd rather be recording with OBS (suuu much better). Also as mentioned, I wish not to LOCK my fps, as it kills my system that way. I want to cap it so it can also run below 60.

I want to cap it so it can also run below 60. It is in the rules. Higher fps makes the car go faster, so to keep it as fair as possible, we limit the fps at 60. It is still not perfect, because not everybody has a system which can run the game 60, so they can't even reach it. What do you mean, it kills your system?

VSync and locking it on 60 forces my pc to stay on 60 even when it should be going at 50 or 40, so it runs awfully. I want it so that it can be anywhere below 60, so it can still go down 40 if needed. It seems you understood me as I want to go above 60, but that's not the case.

My old set-up was running better with V-sync on.

It should be just enough to activate VSync without locking anything so your fps will not go over 60 but can go under 60 if needed. The rule is that your fps mustn't be over 60, but can be under 60.
Is your pc too good to keep 60, or too bad to reach 60? I don't really understand your problem.

I think he is confused because of the words "lock" and "cap". Basically, the peaople in here are using them as synonyms. Rivatuner Statistics Server what ganjalo mentioned/linked is the easiest way if you have problems with gta's vsync. It allows you to cap your fps and it doesn't matter if your system doesn't reach it. I hope that finally helps you, LeStevsDrifts (@steev)

And yes it only means that your FPS will not go over 60, but it still can be lower than 60fps if your system doesn´t reach that all the time.

Heres how in dxtory. This limits the FPS, meaning you'll never go above only below if your system struggles to keep up. You can still use OBS to record, you don't need to record with dxtory for the limit to be in effect. See spoiler:

Thanks Dnl_Jackson and Sarah , finally. I don't get how some of you can use lock and cap as synonyms, lock meaning that it will not change from 60, and cap meaning it'll be below 60.

It isn't the same to lock your fps to 60 or lock your monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz, and then use v-sync. Because you are locking a monitor refresh rate, and not caping it. Also OP says "FPS Limit", limit means cap, and not lock.
