If they're rwd, they'll spin out. I could drift and do a burnout my jaguar mk II before I upgraded it, on tarmac. Well I feel like if a RWD car spins out depends on, besides tuning factors, if it has more grip than needed to match the power and torque it possesses. There are certainly cars like those muscle cars who easily spin out, but there are also grip cars like 350Z that has low power but more grip than needed. Even a stock M4 is more than controllable, if I remember correctly. So it ultimately depends on how you setup a car. it's just that if you gas at the right rpm while turning, pretty much any car can start sliding, especially in snow. I'll probaly go for the tyres, so question is just whether your powerful wheel spinning will match my crawling grip.

Yeah but it's true that pretty much all cars can slide/drift at least to some extent. So it doesn't really have anything to do being RWD, or not having enough grip. My point is with a less grip/power ratio, you need to be much more careful with throttle to maintain control of your car. I brought this point up because I want to show that a D or C class F-100 won't have too much power to overwhelm its stock tire. Maybe a slight upgrade helps, but ultimately it shouldn't be too bad (just speculation though, I haven't tested yet). And back to the power vs grip preference. I initially always prefer grip first, but then I realized that, at least in this game, having a little less grip isn't a big deal, as you won't lose much time by sliding or drifting through a corner (even though I hate to do so). But when you are in a situation where you see everyone flying pass you just because you put most PI on upgrading for grip, then there is really nothing you can do. I'm not saying that never go for grip though. If I define a grip/power ratio of 1 to be a perfect match between grip and power, then I would always prefer a ratio of 0.7 - 0.9 on my car.

you won't lose much time by sliding or drifting through a corner (even though I hate to do so) You do loose some time, especially when you're racing a ghost, but useful for blocking off people trying to pass you, or when fighting understeer.

I hate drifting... Getting rekt by all these drifting scums in random lobbies.

I like to drift, just don't like the way "races" are set up, with points as the most important factor. it's not racing, it's scoring points. Hope you won't mind me sliding around a bit in the races, it'll be a lot more on the offroad tracks tomorrow, just so you know.

I don't know, there's just something extremely satisfying about getting the car sideways into a turn.

It's just annoying for me to see people drifting pass me while I'm taking a corner normally. I don't mind drifting in rally races tbh.

I appreciate the skills involved in drifting, but I really prefer getting your brake correctly, take the line, and get around a corner as fast as you can with your tires stick to the ground. I don't know how to express this feeling, but it's something like "you-might-want-to-rush-but-you-really-need-to-take-it-easy" that appeals to me. More haste, less speed.

I think you missed the point of drifting, in races, it's often quite pointless, powersliding happens when you rush too much i.e. not breaking enough or gassing too much in the turn. Drifting, is the art of sideways, or backwards corner entry, about style rather than speed, used a lot in rally as turning before the turn it way better than understeering off the track, you use the slide as braking as well as your brakes, and tighter turns, and you get longer straights.

I agree. I don't get the beauty of drifting :( But I want to clarify that I do believe drifting in rally races is totally reasonable.
