Thanks for inviting me to review the tracks. Hope it's helpful
Outskirts Grand Prix by
lildyl2142.93 miles through the East LS industrial district. Might get a chance to drive it this evening; until then here's a review from the Social Club map and my own knowledge of the area.
You might find CP6 interacts with CP28. In a long, multi-class event with contact and a spread out grid, the field can spread out this much. That isn't the real crossover, though.
In your crossover, the cars drive across each other. Lunar Loops and The North Loop merge the traffic into the same direction. Even then, it takes good awareness from drivers to avoid crashes.
If you swap the direction of one loop (probably the South) you could make it 2 corners. They could be divided and won't cross over:
- Copy the job and then edit the copy.
- Grid would point North.
- CP29 would connect to CP9.
- CP28 would connect to CP8.
- CP1 to 8 would all be deleted.
- Then place the CPs again but in the opposite order (8 to 1).
- Re-arrange the pit lane so it works the opposite direction. (Will be easier to control the side people enter.)
The start with non-crossover layout would be a bit like
my Cypress Sweepers track.
CP10 is a very big and blind crest where you need to turn sharp left? When I first looked at the layout I thought the North was going the other direction because of that feature. (Maybe I have the roads mixed up?) Changing the North direction would be 3x the effort of changing the South direction.
It looks suitable for Muscle cars and endurance racing, minus the 90° crossover.
Galileo's Ring Rallycross by
lildyl2142.17 miles using lots of the Galileo Observatory dirt tracks and much-loved sweeping tarmac just to the West, South of it. A short tarmac link in the East.
Don't use Tyre Line...ever. There's no pit lane. If people start getting lapped it's going to cause a lot of unintentional accidents due to the lumpy S-bends of the tracks, especially in the East.
Shortcuts from CP13 uphill to CP15 aren't blocked. (The East tarmac link.) CP16 to CP19 might be vulnerable to shortcuts as well, as there are no props here. Much faster to straight-line this very narrow and steep-sided track. Probably needs retaining walls for a 'pure' endurance event.
The South road has a lot of trees, walls and blind corners but generally these are avoided when going Eastwards. In the other direction, it takes quite a lot of props to avoid head-on crashes into the scenery. Especially when going side by side.
Doesn't suit pure or endurance racing with the current prop arrangement. Far too long for FIA Global Rallycross style, too. More of a R* style mixed surface race but on better/tougher roads than they normally choose.
That Highway Flow by
lildyl2144.11 miles along the R* Dock Ring track, in the same direction but extended North and then loops back on a pair of 1 mile freeways which are nearly straight.
Interesting M-shaped route through the 4 level stack which joins the pair of long straights. Without that it would get rather boring! A chicane also splits the 2nd straight, using the bridges at an intersection to make a large 'bus stop' style chicane.
Top speed would be a match for handling here. Sadly the new R* cars have dominant top speed and handling which ruins the Muscle category. Blade and Ruiner will challenge on these section but lose through the Dock Ring part.
No pit lane. Turn 1 is a very high speed approach into a sharp 90° which then turns back on itself.
The highlight will be the Dock Ring section. CPs look good on the map but I'd like to see some retaining walls to the West of the road. There's a couple of places (from memory) where cars tend to run wide and hit the end of a metal fence. The fence is only wood in a these danger areas.
A couple of turns are blind crests and have to be laid out carefully to prevent shortcuts while making the route fair. Would need to drive those to see how well that's been done.
Certainly a pure race and suitable for an endurance event - if you add a pit lane! Maybe a bit long for a playlist event? The roads are well known but not raced that often in NoDo recently. The oil fields are a suitable backdrop for Muscle racing.
Ben's Choice1. That Highway Flow [just needs pit lane]
2. Outskirts Grand Prix [with one loop redirected it would be 1st choice]
3.
Endurance Grand Prix by
lildyl214 is 8.33 miles so only 1 or 2 laps in a playlist. Uses the worse (or just harder) direction along many favourite roads to the East, North and South of Galileo Observatory. [Pit lane can't be seen from road?]
