People have to work full time, go to school / university, study for exams. Committing 1.5 - 2 hours for an endurance race is already a big ask for some people with limited free time. I would just like to see an event where we turn up and compete in equal machinery (or as equal as GTA will allow). So let me get this straight... These people, who are extremely busy, so busy in fact, that they are going to sign up to an event that spans 5 months from July to December. In between each race, there is two weeks to prepare and these people are so busy that they cannot even play for an hour or so a day to do a little bit of practice and experiment with their car setup (or not, if they don't want to). If you're that busy then just don't sign up or just accept the fact that you're probably not going to do that well regardless of whether you set your car up or not. calm your tits man.

Shame there isn't a summer break planned in. Wonder how many reserves will be required. However I'm pretty exited! Hope this championship will contain another brilliant van race. Yeah, not a popular opinion. But I stand for vans since they're the best class in the game! Sick paintjob on that surfer!

I filled in the spreadsheet. If I wasn't signed up with that sheet I would like to sign up now

I am calm 😂 I was just pointing out the floor in his logic. Overall, I guess I don't understand why anyone who is a fan of 'proper racing' (as Broughy likes to call it in every video of his) wouldn't like the idea of being able to set up their car to suit their driving style. That is a huge part of what 'proper racing' is! So it might sound harsh or 'aggressive' of me to call people lazy, but that's simply the way I see it.

Okay, I filled the form as GT3, however I would also be okay being stuffed in GT2 should I be selected and I am found to be more GT2 pace. If you're in GT3 then i should sign up for GT99

It's nice to see we haven't even made it an hour since the thread went up without an argument. Let's not make this a premonition for the season, shall we? It was a discussion, not an argument. The thread asks for ideas, discussion of proposals will happen as will disagreement. This is the place to do that right now and is fine as long as it doesn't cross the line.

Suggestion wise: I think it would be best to go for exact spec setups. We've pretty much confirmed now that bumpers, spoilers and even neons have an effect on car handling. By making the cars identical we can at least eliminate some of the variables. Granted you will never be able to police suspension choices on some cars, but it would be nice to level the playing field as much as possible. 100% agree with these suggestions. It doesn't make sense to lock GTs to a single car choice and not also lock in a specific setup for everyone to use. This puts every single driver on equal footing when they get into their car. If you can't figure out how to drive the car with that setup, maybe you aren't as skilled as your ego claims you to be. This happened with wheel choices last season because it was mentioned that each wheel had different handling characteristics, and that was the reasoning for it (if I'm not mistaken, its been awhile since I looked at that stuff). If there's even a hint of difference between Option 1 and Option 2 in the front bumper choices, then everyone should be forced to pick a specific one to limit the effect it has on the races. This event isn't about finding the correct setup to nail those laptimes and get an advantage over others in your class - its about limiting the variables and letting drivers drive their races and get some good battles out of it. Limiting the setups does this. It doesn't even have to be anything specific, it could be as simple as "if a car has an option for extra bits, you must take the last one on the list" and I'd be fine with that. Sure the cars might not look that great, but who cars what it looks like. It might not even be a car you want to drive! It might be a fucking VAN for all you know! The cars are just there to go around the track.

Replies like this are unnecessary. Don't post if you aren't going to add to the discussion. Merphos could have taken a better tone in his post, but it wasn't that bad.

Going to also throw in my thought, 2 weeks is plenty of time to come up with a passable setup. This is supposed to be a big event, you are expected to be practicing beforehand, not just showing up unprepared.
As well, we know modifications dont make the car faster, but they can make the driver faster. Personally I like very understeery cars, but if the 'mandated' setup for a car was more oversteery, that would put me at a disadvantage compared to people who prefer oversteer. We shouldn't be limited for that, besides maybe no offroads as that does make a difference but has plenty of alternatives, is easy to govern and makes everything prettier.

You're already at a disadvantage if you're forced into a Coquette, for example. What the setup is won't matter if the car is already severely leaning in a single direction. My point above about actually being able to drive the car should be the important part, not trying to force the car to fit your specific driving style.

I think restricting body mods is silly as I did last time and now that we are more experienced in how mods affect cars i think the ability to tune your car with mods is a good thing for something like the mcec although it kinda makes me salty for casual one offs or daily playlists to tryhard in this way True. We also shouldn't be restricted into using setups that we can't perform well with, but others can. And this is an excellent point, I will leave the topic at that. If Broughy decides to restrict set ups then I'll still race. At the end of the day, the best drivers always win no matter what. Personally I just find practising for an event where I can't adjust my set up to be quite dull and monotonous, but so be it.
