This is something I've always been curious about. What view to people use when racing? Obviously the camera can be high or low, and far, default or close (I'm not talking about first person here - I'm on about competitive racing). Do you change your view based on the car (some cars are slightly different in how close they are to the camera) or is it always the same. If you've experimented, what do you get the best results from? Vote above and comment below!

Usually high/default. Always suited me this way and for some reason I find it really uncomfortable to use the zoomed in/out views.

High and default now. I've used high and close for the last months, but I'm trying to get back into the default view. Gives you a bit more visibility around you I think.

When I first started out racing in this game I used the closest view and had the camera set to high. It worked for me then, I'm not sure when I switched but now I use the middle view or whatever. I was using the farthest for a bit but that makes the car seem too loose IMO. That may sound a bit odd, but I look at the road in a 'certain' way when racing and the far view doesn't work out for it. Medium makes the car feel perfect and I've gotten used to it. Close up now feels weird because I can't see what's around me very well. I don't move my camera around, so that's pretty much static the whole time other than when the game moves it.

Clearly this poll has been created in lure of the next series of fully modded testing: how quick is every car in the game using every combination of camera view?

The only view that I can't drive in is the "low" setting, how can people see around them like that? That said, my favorite is the high default.

I actually prefer high & default but nearly always switch to high & far in a competitive race. It just gives a better view of the cars around me.
One thing I've noticed while watching some crew videos, a lot of you move the camera around with the right stick while taking corners. I'll sometimes do it for slow corners & hairpins etc but I just can't do it for high speed corners.

Most of the time I use high and far, this extends your view and improves your awareness as you can see when a driver is close to you. However, I sometimes change to the Default and far if I feel like I am crashing a lot because i use the right analogue stick to move the camera, which I hate myself for, feel like thats the reason for most of my crashes.

High and far for me, although I've recently started to use high and default.

I have experimented with low/default, low/far, high/close, high/default, and high/far. High/default works best for me in all situations. I can agree with what Twili said about the far view seeming too "loose." For some reason I feel more tempted to use my right analog stick and then it all goes to pot. Some of my best hot lap times came from when I was using the closest high viewpoint, because not tempted to use the right stick at all and have a better feel of the car. So high/default fit the bill just right. I use the right stick sparingly with this view.

I usually use high and far. Low vs far doesn't matter much to me, as, most of the time, I have the right analog stick in use, anyway. I am considering switching to the default view, though, as I agree it might improve precision a bit, but I am not used to that angle. As for the use of the analog stick, I think it helps me more than it hurts.
Edit: Actually, I initially started to use the analog stick because I didn't know of the "high" option and the low angle didn't suit me.

Ive used close/high for a very long time, but as I started racing more and more, I felt like I couldnt see my surroundings well enough. Now it's 90% medium/high and 10% far, depending on the car I drive and track.

I used high and default for a very long time, up until recently changing, and I've seen a definite improvement. I don't know if that's got anything to do with the camera though or just practice.

High and far and would go higher and further if the game would let me. I may just be remembering incorrectly but it seems to me like ever since GTA IV, even the highest/furthest camera angle is much closer to the car than in GTA 3/VC/SA. I like the camera to be really high in any car racing game.
