I was watching, went back to racing (and dealing with NoDo rammers ) because it was more interesting. Hoping Vettel passes Massa though. And hoping Rosberg explodes.

I've been hearing all the talk of F1 being very boring these days - but I found this race to be a bit refreshing. Sure you had the usual Merc 1-2 but Williams v Ferrari, and the whole midfield battle was quite entertaining.
But stepping back from this race, and reflecting on the season as a whole so far; just like the Vettel dominance - Mercedes and their consistent 1-2's have become considerably boring. Every single race, although the pundits keep talking up Ferrari - I really don't see anyone stopping Merc anytime soon.
Bit of a random ramble but, thought I'd wade in on the whole F1 discussion

Yeah I agree but with Vettel at least places 2 onwards were mixed up with, from 2011-2012-2013: Alonso, Webber, Button, Hamilton, Raikonnen, Grosjean. Maybe others too.
Now it's just Merc 1-2. Who gets the last podium step? Not us.
Le Mans, OTOH, was so good this year.

Mercedes is pretty hard to beat, Ferrari has made improvements this year but it's still not enough, I agree that Mercedes may not be stopped anytime soon. Le Mans was great. The team I was rooting for won GTE PRO and a Nissan finish the race, exceeding my expectations for the GTR LM.

Yeah as an Australian I am interested in and follow Mark Webber's career so seeing him bring the Porsche home in second was satisfying.

Looks like Hulkenberg took some confidence from Le Mans Was happy with his result, 6th in a Force India is a very good result. Disappointed that there was a lack of tension, everyone except 5th-8th looked set until Vettel had his awful pit stop. Sad about the early crash with Alonso and Kimi. Overall it was a pretty dull race.

Yeah fair point with the Vettel dominance, the battle between the rest was always fun to watch. Though, I still personally believe, F1 was the most exciting to watch, from 2005-2010. Aside from Alonso's double WDC win, different world champion every year after that - twas a lot of fun to watch!
Returning to the talk of Mercedes though, I reckon McLaren come 2016/17, will give them a good run - eapecially with the drivers they have

After sunday's race I'm just happy that Alonso's car didn't end up over Räikkönen's cockpit, that could have ended badly.

After sunday's race I'm just happy that Alonso's car didn't end up over Räikkönen's cockpit, that could have ended badly. Raikkonen does need to get his act together though. I've always had a soft spot for him mostly because of his off track antics rather than his on track performances (which have been pretty inconsistent to say the least) but I feel like maybe the time has come for him to make way for new(er) talent. With everything Hülkenberg has shown since his arrival in F1 I feel he deserves the second Ferrari seat. On to last Sunday's race. Not much to say really, the win was decided at the start as Hamilton had no answer to the pace of Rosberg. Vettel's race was decided by his pitstop, solid drive from Massa though to be able to take advantage of the Ferrari woes and keep Vettel behind him at the end of the race. Once again most of the action was found at the lower point scoring positions with the Maldonado Verstappen dual being pretty much the highlight of an otherwise lacklustre race. No doubt the Raikkonen Alonso incident will spark another debate about whether F1 should leave open cockpit racing behind and start looking for safer solutions. We could well see F1 cars looking similar to this one in the future: I certainly hope it won't come to that though as I feel that open cockpit racing has always been a defining characteristic of Formula 1 and I would be sad to see it go.

In terms of Hulkenberg, I couldn't agree more - aside from Bahrain, I really haven't seen Raikkonen step up the same way Vettel has. Unless he like Vettel, wins a GP for Ferrari this season, I am not too sure he will be around come next season.

There're rumours about Bottas replacing Raikonen next year. And when Raikonens results don't improve, i won't be surprised if it actually happens. Great race by Verstappen. Again the fastest car with a Renault engine and now the engine seems to be reliable.

Bottas or Hulkenberg, Ferrari would be wise to choose either. Obviously Raikkonen trumps them on experience and possibly skill but we are yet to really see that this year so either driver is a good choice for Ferrari.
Verstappen is proving to be quite entertaining to watch - him and Maldonado this time round. But was it just me or did I see Maldonado do a double overtake within two corners?

If I were Ferrari I'd go for Bottas. Hulk is about 2 years past his peak in F1. Le Mans was a great result but basically Bottas is younger, faster, and with a brighter future. I can also see Red Bull getting ready to jettison Kyvat for Verstappen, to stop someone else snapping him up. Hulk would be a likely contender for Williams.

Hmm, I'm not sure about that - Hulkenberg has proved again and again, that given the right car, he could really do something special. Take a look at last year, Williams were really on the pace, but found themselves floundering on the victory front - they came close a couple of times and really, should have won Canada, Austria and Abu Dhabi. Now part of this might have been due to either just the raw dominance of Merc, or that both their drivers were particularly lacking in those races. But look back to Korea in 2013 (I think) and just look at how Hulkenberg just held up all those faster drivers time and again - that might have been a one off, but I genuinely believe he could win the WDC given the right car.
