I haven't started yet, but I did volunteer to do F1 Vinewood GP. There's a good video of it that Ser put on youtube, so recreating it from that should be pretty straightforward. I'll do it later this week when I have time.
P.S. How does qualifying work? Is it an open 20-30mins session with non-contact enabled? I don't see any sense in doing Q1, Q2, and Q3 like a real race...

It seems the current idea of the pitting method is getting a few of you confused, I'll try to clear it up.
Pick a strategy that fits you, so a few combinations; Option, Option, Prime; Option, Prime, Option; Prime, Option, Option; Prime, Option, Prime The idea of "Compounds" is to mix up the length of stints between cars, so worrying which compound you're on doesn't matter (Just remember if you're currently on a short or long stint). Everyone should know their strategy prior to the race, so remembering it shouldn't be complex (Just write it down, so you can review it during the race if you need to). All driver's must use both compounds. A strategy should look like this;
Say you start on the "Option" compound 1st Stop: 15 minute mark (Option->Option) 2nd Stop: 30 minute mark (Option->Prime) Or.... Say you start on the "Prime" compound 1st Stop: 35 minute mark (Prime->Option) 2nd Stop: 50 minute mark (Option->Option)
Remember Option tire life: 10-15 Minutes Prime tire life: 30-35 Minutes
When entering the pits and there is someone in front of you (or pitting), you're specific time starts when you stop, not when you reach the end.

Qualifying starts today and ends on Friday, so tag me when you have your result(s) so I can add it to the OP. Remember, once you submit your lap, you can't participate in anymore qualifying sessions.

Quick question/suggestionSwitching race time for PS3
The races are currently scheduled for 5pm UTC (except on xbox) which is 10am-1pm (depending where you live) for residents in the western hemisphere. I realize that this community is based in the eastern hemisphere, but is it possible to push the time back to 9pm UTC so, people like myself, don't have to miss their activities during the regular day? 9pm is not late and this allows people for some breathing room to get home and get ready. This would also allow racers in New Zealand and Australia to race at 7am and 9am instead of 2am and 4am. If anyone else on PS3 is interested we could hold it to a vote. I'll make a poll.

Would you rather have me explain it in a huge coloumn of text which will confuse you more than watching the race above ?_?
All this talk and confusing about tires and strategy roots from people not willing to search and understand whats it all about.
I am posting a visible thing for you to have a grasp about it and you say ''watch this 2 hour race if you don't have a clue'' . . .
EDIT : I mean if you are not willing to watch a real life race which contains a good demonstration (in my opinion) and have some ideas about the issue under discussion, how are you going to make up your strategies and execute them in the in game race ? This whole thing about tires and stints are there because of the real life counterpart of it has them. Races are won or lost because of the strategies and pilots performances. Last season was all about pilot performances, it completely discarded the strategy options at least for ps3. In the races there was no pit strategy or overtakings happenning between those. There was a little in depth for tires, that was just because we had both zentorno and turismo and host decided to use tuners for zentorno to hold back its power of curb boosting over turismo.
Now you have this good replica ( in my opinion ) which brings a good aspect and actually distinguishes the event from any other event you can take part. I don't know if it will live up to how host and contributors expected. Still it worths a try.

But the idea of watching a 2 hour race to grasp the concept seems a bit overwhelming (without having touched the play-button). It's just that I'm a bit afraid of not knowing when to pit during the race. The options/prime tyres seems pretty reasonable to me. I'll just see how it goes and I might just watch the video you've just posted when I get home.

So I can do as many qualifying laps as I want on my own time, then submit a screenshot of the lap?
But, the results shouldn't be posted until everyone finishes qualifying, otherwise people will keep lapping to beat a previously posted time....
Edit: Also, what's to stop people from using offroad tires during qualifying then just changing back afterwards? Or taking a full-speed run through the home straight to shave a few extra tenths off. I honestly think we should do a qualifying session together, so no one cheats, and also so that everyone has the same amount of time to put in a hot lap. Otherwise some people will only have an hour of laps, and knowing this crew, some people will spend all day long lapping.
Edit 2: Also, I did my PB of 3:32.7 the other day. Had I taken a picture of that, I could submit it as my quali time. What's stopping anyone from doing the same if they happened to have saved a pic of their hot lap.
