I'm still playing and loving it every now and then. I'm planning to make a second character for the new survival mode when I find the time. I also just finished Automatron, put about 50 more lights and 200 letters in my Sanctuary with Wasteland Workshop. Now I'm eagerly awaiting Far Harbor.
And even if the game itself gets boring soon, mods will keep me playing for some more time, because the world is just so damn beautiful.

I hope it's something like cheat codes was on PS2. I have no idea why game devs for the most part got rid of cheat codes on PS3. Sure, don't have them online. But have them offline at least. Look how much fun San Andreas (original PS2 game) was. Infinite health, ammo, armor, money, moon gravity, big heads, super jump, cars fly, always 6 stars cops, always 0 star cops, unlock/refill all weapons, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. SA had so many fun cheats it was insane. Why can't we have all that stuff these days? These days games are like "play the game as intended, and ONLY as intended." Like I said sure I get it being banned online. But for offline games? What happened? I'm hoping mods brings a lot of that fun stuff back with Fallout 4.

GTA:V has cheat codes for singleplayer, www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/634490-grand-theft-auto-v/cheatsFallout is great, I love the map, and definitely the weapon crafting and settlement building are a huge chunk of my time spent playing. I like the storyline choices, and the characters are cool. I only wish I had money to spend on DLC

Speaking of Far Harbor, a trailer and the release date (May 19th) has just been released I can't wait for mods. I hope it's something like cheat codes was on PS2. I have no idea why game devs for the most part got rid of cheat codes on PS3. Sure, don't have them online. But have them offline at least. Look how much fun San Andreas (original PS2 game) was. Like I said sure I get it being banned online. But for offline games? What happened? I'm hoping mods brings a lot of that fun stuff back with Fallout 4. I know what you mean with the cheat codes, I've been wondering about that as well. I remember all the good cheats from the Tony Hawk's pro skater series (without the recent disaster) or San Andreas. The GTA IV and V cheats where pretty underwhelming and I really can't think of any new games with stuff like that. Apart from the console in some Bethesda games, but that's PC exclusive as well. So I really think mods for consoles are a nice thing, I just hope Bethesda doesn't make another attempt at introducing paid mods. That shit is terrible. I play on PC, so I already have acces to mods. Most of the ones I have installed are just bugfixes along with some graphical enhancements and things that I feel should be in the game already, like craftable armor size for example. But I'm pretty shure things like you suggested will be available in loads for consoles. Along with an endless amount of things you didn't even know you want gears0nfire , you really have no money? Because since you like settlement building, I can definitely recommed spending 5 bucks for wasteland workshop. I didn't care too much about the creature catching/arena fights, but there's a lot of smaller stuff like new (actually bright) lamps, a new set of walls/floors/roofs/railings, some nice decoration and more things I can't think of right now. I think it's a really nice addition to the building part of the game. Here's a Video walkthrough of the DLC, by someone who adores fallout. It's 2x30 minutes, but most of the interesting stuff is in the first part and you can skip through it if it's too long: Part 1, Part 2

I played after launch for some weeks and then got bored. Now I have a very big gap and will rejoin again with the new DLC.

No problem. Well I defeated the Machinist today. I'm currently level 32 using the Overseers Guardian and Railway Rifle which with their current setup does 76 and 100 damage respectively. The stage was actually fairly easy until right at the end. I got though it but not without using virtually every aid I had. Buffout (extra 50 life points), Med X (25 damage resist), Jet (slow time), Purified Water/Nuka Cola/Stimpaks (health). I pulled everything out for that end part. There was always this 1 robot that came in after most of the swarms that really got on my nerves. He was a quick fucker and if he sliced me once it was usually death. He killed my like 3 times. I had to purposely make sure to save a few jets for him just so I had to to locate and shoot him before he sliced me. And he wasn't a bot that went down in 1 shot either. I think the worst bot I faced so far though was the Legendary Sentry Bot at the National Reserves Training Grounds. Holy bloody hell that thing. That thing when it shot at you it killed you in seconds, it high speed rams into you killing you that way as well. I flat out could not face that thing straight up. No way. I had to run to the roof where I pulled out my Missile Launcher and started firing missiles. And even then that thing took like 20 damn missiles to take out. It's a damn good thing I had a crap load of missiles (had like 175 lol) and like 50 stimpaks. Cause every time I fired at him he shot me. I had to literally; - Quick aim. - Vats shot. - Fire. - Duck to cover. - Stimpak. - Reload. - Quick aim again. Every shot by the time I even locked on to that thing I was like half dead. My partner at the time was Strong, the super mutant. He's usually pretty strong, hence his name I guess. But he couldn't do shit to that Legendary Sentry Bot. Strong was injured in seconds. So yea, my recommendation is if your new/low rank/using weak guns, you might wanna stay clear of the Machinist for now and certainly avoid that Legendary Sentry Bot. I was firing missiles at that, that's 150 damage a piece, and it took a bunch of those to kill it. If your using some stock weapon with 20 or 30 damage, your just as good throwing pebbles at it. lol

I really need to get back on it, especially since Far Harbor's coming... haven't even touched the game before Automatron came out

I remember that sentry bot, I basically let it chase me around and around a pole whilst I shot it with an automatic laser rifle I found in the building. Took just about all my ammo.

If you can find a full set of X-01 armor, you are basically set for being able to facetank most enemies. Some things still shred my health up, but I have a ton of Stimpaks and I make Refreshing Beverages at the chemistry station which are amazing. If you haven't made any, do it. Do it now. I believe the sentry bot you're talking about, I made self destruct. Robotics expert ftw.

A friend says you can have the Railway Spike gun do upwards of 200 damage per shot when maxed out. With the Rail Gun and Overseers Guardian I'm not worried about range. I got a .50 Cal Marksman Sniper for range. With those guns I want power. Really I don't care for wearing power armor. I have 4 at my Castle base I never use. I left fusion cores in them hoping my settlers will use them. Hell I don't even wear regular armor. Unless it's forcefully required for a mission, my character usually runs around in her underwear. I like keeping the weight down so I pick up a crap load of junk during missions so I can add to my crate at the castle and have more supplies for customizing. I sell all my clothing, unneeded ammo and excess weapons often ranking up around 1200 caps at stores. Which I then spend buying ammo I do need and health items. I'm the all natural savior of the commonwealth. xd

I think it's a dumbed down, turgid pile of shit that doesn't deserve the Fallout name but has clearly been made consequence, depth and thought free for the console/millennial player base.
There was a time, in good Fallout games like Fallout 2, that your choice of companion had a number of downstream effects for you, the player, to consider. You already had to put up with a bit of discrimination because as the Vault Dweller in Fallout 1, and the tribal Chosen One in Fallout 2, you were a bit unsophisticated relative to those inhabiting the world around you. And if you ran with, say, Marcus as your companion in Fallout 2 it could be an issue if you arrived a location that didn't know you with a hulking great supermutant in tow. People tended not to take you at your word when you swore the super mutant or ghoul was intelligent and not a threat. So you had to avoid areas or work on earning enough of a reputation that people were willing to trust you on your companion.
Today's millennial, though, is unaccustomed to challenges or not getting 100% of their own way. They've been told by their parents that they're special little flowers and the world owes them - neither of which are true, and the fact is I've seen butter in the midday sun that's harder than these kids.
So you can't simply have them allowed to have Strong or Nick Valentine as companions then deny them access to the "cool" BoS airship with those companions in tow. Even though from a narrative standpoint the Brotherhood is emphatically opposed to both the synths and super mutants, and would either shoot both those companions on sight or best-case scenario take them prisoner until their lack of any actual threat had been established - this gets in the way of shooting stuff and being "cool" in power armour (which annoyingly has ammo to run, that you can easily obtain en masse so there's no issue here).
The proper Fallout games would make you chose. They'd impose hardships - like getting the childkiller trait from a stray shot in a firefight, which causes people to be generally hostile towards you in conversation and negotiation. Harsh, but so is the world. No, Fallout 4's average gamer has no time for this! And because depth isn't usually the remit of console games, they'll think the game is deep and layered.
It's a shitty game, and if you like it you can't have played a good fallout game before. It's to fallout what Game of Thrones is to a Song of Ice and Fire - dumbed down to the point of needing the slogan "by twits, for twits".
