Not sure if these will be of interest or not, but I have started compiling playlists of PC creator races made by NoDo members (at least people who had NoDo as active crew when I did my bookmarking(s)). I have shamelessly taken after Broughy and added one of my own to each playlist. Enjoy! or don't. NoDo PC Races 1

I don't know, timezones are a thing, and I think 7pm GMT+1 is around where EU people finished their workday and start playing. I'm not really concerned because I will be able to play earlier anyway, but I thought it was worth mentioning. On the other hand we can also have a special playlist going through all the new cars, so everyone can test the cars in situation and decide what to buy, this can be nice too. It would mean using stock cars though so no love for people who already bought and customized stuff

NoDo PC Races 4Have you tried all the tracks yourself? Yes. Some of them are more "serious" than others, but I generally haven't put tracks that I thought had terrible check point or prop placements. IMO, these are a mix of "good" tracks and some less serious, but not insane fun tracks. Some of them could use improvements/suggestions, some just need a couple laps to get used to.

Some good races today, thanks to those that were hosting it and getting everyone pulled into the lobbies.

I had good races too, despite terrible Australian internet (the best is when you go to turn in on a line and appear a few metres ahead of where you intended to turn. Fantastic!). It's funny though; I can destroy a lobby of randoms, even some who are actually good racers but you realise how the amateur leagues are so far off the pro leagues it's not funny.

Thanks for hosting yesterday meetmypyro, I had fun as always. Unfortunately I won't be able to join another playlist until Monday, since I come from work late.

Hey fellow racers and daily playlist veterans =D. The daily playlist really kicked off over the last weeks and b/c of that a big tank you to pyro for hosting it frequently. It is a great thing that brings the PC crew closer together.
Other than what I just wrote today was quite a bad day in the playlist. I feel like the more advanced players start to become frustrated with all the crashes and takeouts (also racers that took out others not waiting (this is a crew guidline, so please be aware of this) that take place mostly in the 1st lap. So I want to give everybody the chance to improve on this. First I suggest watching this video:
ALL tips shown in this video apply to pyros daily playlist!
It is a great example of how to avoid collisions and how to be aware of other drivers and showing respect by not blocking them into obstacles b/c they got a better run than yourself (this respect is crucial and seperates fast drivers from great drivers). So I dont want to go into detail b/c shaggy does it in the video better than i could do by writing it down.
Second thing I suggest you is to going into the playlist with having on your mind that a race is not won on first turn. Leave some place to other drivers, so you have more time to react to their mistakes and also more time to think about your action. When everthing has settled you can still burn your hotlaps into the asphalt.
Third thing: Read the communtiy and racing guidelines and stick to them while racing.
I really hope that the next upcoming playlist will show more racecraft, as we have seen in the beginning of this event. If things keep going on like this we will have to think about doing a playlist only with players that have shown racecraft and respect to others which would really be disappointing b/c it takes a lot of the fariety away.
So please try to keep this in mind when you join the daily racing playlist next time. It will improve the enjoyment for everybody.

Thanks for the post, ovivo, I will watch the video in its entirety when I get home.
One think I have noticed is that we poor antipodean sods do have much less robust interwebs, so collisions can occur without the driver being aware. The other day, braking for turn 2 on Cutting Coroners I was hit fully from behind and pushed way off track by a crew member who was completely unaware that we'd connected.
So if I or another Aussie appear to shunt you and keep going, pls call it out as we didn't intend it and I at least would gladly concede the place back in recognition of the crew's racing guidelines.

There's a few more things I want to add to what ovivo has posted. Yes, I have made a few mistakes and wronged a few people in the ways I'll mention in this post but at least I know I did wrong. These things may be already obvious but some people haven't quite gotten the memo:
1. People racing in packs go slower: People racing side-by-side can't go as fast as those out alone because they can't take the optimal racing lines. If you happen to ram and wreck a dude racing in a pack there's a good chance it's your fault for your ramming their ass and not their fault for getting in your way. (Ramming someone stopped/going slow on the racetrack is a different story, usually I wait for people if I accidentally ram them while they're getting back on track and they spin out.)
2. The distance between two cars decreases when approaching a corner: If you're right behind somebody as the two of you approach a corner and you don't brake early to compensate you will ram the dude in front of you and you will be at fault. You don't have to be right behind someone for this to happen, and you don't even need to have a passing opportunity either. There is a "safe" distance to follow cars going into a corner, which is exaggerated by cars with poor downforce, poor grip, and tighter, slower corners and diminished by cars with lower top speeds, higher downforce, and higher grip and wider, more open corners. If you are behind someone, instead of trying to follow the optimal racing line and smashing the dude in front of you, these alternatives are much better: 1. Brake early and get on the gas early to get a better run off the corner and present yourself a better passing opportunity. (If you're feeling lucky, try a crossover move like in the video.) 2. Take a different line through the corner. (The outside line is not a bad line to take sometimes!)
3. If someone noticeably faster than you is trying to pass and you're blocking them, it may be (but not always be) be better to let them go or risk getting wrecked, especially in the early stages of the race, or if you don't know the track. This is bad for both parties if a wreck does happen as the dude in front gets wrecked and has a terrible race, and the dude behind has to wait and do it all over again, and thus has a terrible race.
4. Try and keep the damn car intact on lap 1. Get yourself situated in the early part of the race and then collect your thoughts, see which position you're at, and go from there.
That's my two cents. I got a YouTube video coming up in about 12 hours (damn internet) featuring some of our racing in the past few days and you can see where I do practice good racecraft (and also point out where I make mistakes indicative of bad racecraft since I haven't had too much experience doing side-by-side racing.) Anyways I'm pretty damn excited for the playlist tomorrow because I've never consistently been able to be a part of big (12+ player) races in the past and this playlist is a godsend.
EDIT: This post may be charged with a little frustration in it, sorry about that. The advice still stands as being relevant, however.

I'm guilty for quite some crashes, but most of them are not from holding the trigger too long and not using breaks, but because I got graphic lagspikes (fps drops for a second, looks like lagging for me). Also because of low fps I believe my car is less responsive to steering so I end up hitting barriers. I always try to wait if I crash someone and get out of the way being lapped, but if you see me doing otherwise just call it out - it might have not looked like a crash on my screen :/ Although I might stop racing the daily playlist untill I upgrade my PC Yesterday I was just getting frustraded with hitting everything.

I appreciate the discussion on this thread. All this is not about blaming somebody for making mistakes, it is about improving your skills and the overall enjoyment of racing with crew members. So if you want to go into more detail here is a link to a playlist that contains some advanced and basic skill that you can practice during the daily playlist: Driving Skills Guide for NoDo racingEnjoy your day and see you at the racetrack.

I'm not a very seasoned racer and I'm not blameless, especially since I don't use voice chat and there are sometimes too many people crashing it's hard to keep track of everything. But I think we should all keep in mind that despite GTA being a very arcade game (air control being the best example), we are all aiming for realism by joining NoDo.
IRL, actions such as crashing into someone, sliding on a barrier, getting off track, jumping into the sea... would likely getting you disqualified, or your car wrecked, or you dead. You get a much better sense of this when playing in first person, and you tend to take less risks.
So while I don't want everyone to drive in first person, I recommend to anyone having trouble to get into that realism "role play" mindset. To get back to GUN1T video, patience and respect are tied to this. Which then leads to better awareness and adaptiveness.

None of us are perfect, I make plenty of mistakes, like the other day for example, me and M4st4di were having a fantastic race in the Sport Classics, having a right battle for 1st. Until I ruined it a quarter into the final lap by attempting a 'hot lap' like line which ended up taking us both out, still, I waited for him and myself and him still had respectable finishes of 3rd and 4th respectively.
I've said a bit of my piece over at the "Racing Etiquette and Techniques" thread. It's the ones who dive-bomb into the pack at the start of a race and those who don't bother to wait when they've clearly taken someone out that bother the hell out of me. I've seen it happen quite a few times to other people and then the person who dealt it is still racing in front of me, sometimes I've really felt like taking them out for not waiting, but that would end up just making me look bad.
Going back to making mistakes though, besides the obvious crashing, something I'm incredibly guilty of is nudging. I'm a very aggressive driver at times and a lot of the time I end up nudging the car in front of me instead of just letting off the throttle and/or braking a bit. I don't mean when going into corners (that's a different story), but on straights. For many years I raced in an online Stock Car racing league which was full-contact racing, so I have a stubborn mentality of nudging the slower car in front instead of letting off. Fortunately I've not crashed anyone out with these nudges and if anything, it gives them a speed boost, but it's not really proper and I will be trying to stamp it out of my racing style.

I guess I'll add my experience to this aswell. I can admit that I probably took alot of people out in the first couple of races before I restarted my PC, but it's quite hard to n ot hit people when they're not actually where they look to be on your screen.. The thing is, I don't belive that many of the people here are doing these types of things on purpose, the main reason for takeouts probably is lag, and I'm not talking about someone lagging around alot and causing havoc, I'm talking about the little lag that causes you to hit someone despite not hitting them on your screen. Basically, my experience with this was pretty frustrating, I go for an overtake and I see the other guy spinning out and I know immedieatley that I've caused it on their screen, even though I didn't hit them on my screen, so I wait ofcourse. This is really frustrating as it causes me to be miles behind everyone and I just get scared of going for overtakes because of this.. I suggest everyone to find and read all the threads about racing etiquette and things like that to get a better understanding of what to do in certain situations, it really helped me and it'll probably help everyone else aswell. Especcially this thread: nodo.freeforums.net/thread/614/talk-2, it's really good.
