So this truly horrific idea came to me the other day. Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but might be interesting.
In an ideal world, we could have 10k members in a crew, and all would be good in the world, and we could all just play together. But that does not seem to be the world we live in. So I was thinking about maybe making a tiered set of crews:
When someone wants to join NODO, they would be put into NODO4. This would be the entry level crew. New members would come into this crew and could learn some skills, get better at races and GTA in general.
Once you get better, you can apply to get into NODO3. This would have some better racers in it, and so on up to NODO1, where the Twilicanes would live (don't mean to single you out, but you are really fucking fast man).
When you feel competent to advance up to a higher level crew, you would contact the rep for the higher level crew and set up a time to run through a playlist with some of the other players, they could assess the player and agree they are ready for the higher level crew, or give them some pointers on what they need to work on to get to the point where they can get into the higher level crew. Or, the higher level crews could have a weekly standing playlist for tryouts... you all can figure that out.
This would help out in several ways. First, you would feel a sense of accomplishment from getting into the higher level crews. Second, it would allow players to grow. Currently when I run a playlist with NODO, I am always coming in last, but not just last, so far back, that I cannot even discern what the other guys are doing to go so fast. I see them for about 45 seconds of the race, then they are gone... and if I am really lucky, I may see the last two drivers again during the race. From what I have read on here, this is an issue for a lot of ppl. There is just such a disparity between the top end drivers, and a new guy coming in, this seems like it would make entry easier for new members, and allow for higher level members to race with their peers as well.
Anyway, commence to beat me up about this idea now....

This isn't the first time this has been discussed, and I'm certain it won't be the last. This didn't begin as a hardcore race crew, it's for people who enjoy racing, and enjoy racing clean, and for generally friendly people. People joined for that reason, other people joined just because they wanted to play with broughy. The crew expanded really fast, and filled up to where it is now. But the basis of the crew hasn't it's fun crew for clean racing. Having tiers would pretty much change the ideal behind this crew. Whenever I hop into a lobby with these guys they destroy me, and I expect it. I'm not that fast, but I still enjoy racing with them. If I practiced I'd get better. If I wanted pointers I'm sure any of them would take their time out to give me tips and teach me how to get faster. I'm not a fan of the idea of separating everyone.

Yes, I agree with you, that is why I joined this crew. Was not looking for a hardcore race crew so much as I just like to race, clean (as much as I can), and have fun. It really does not bother me too much to come in at the bottom end of things, but there are times when I get into a playlist with NODO guys and I just get so wiped out it is not even fun.
It would be nice if we had more clinics and stuff for new people, to teach them some things, and get us all faster.

Lately people have been setting up events for novice drivers, and endurance races and what not. Try to hop into stuff.

trust me, i know where you are coming from (I had a similar idea but much more simple, nothing involving new crews, just different racing leagues like in football or any other sport, with promotions and relegations at the end of a season)... However, you can improve by racing people who are sort of at your level first, and move gradually towards becoming a better racer. I was in your exact situation, and i can assure you it does get better, but it will take a lot of time.

What we could do is what Redbeard9295 said. Someone creates a thread called racing league. Say there are 4 divisions or 3 whatever. 3 would be for novice drivers, 2 for average and 1 for really good. You rank yourself how you feel you are then tables are made. Each week a playlist is ran for each division. At the end of the month the top 2 players from 3 move to 2 and top 2 from 2 move to 1. 2 players from the top 2 who finished bottom are then relegated to the lower division. I actually think this would be a great Idea and might actually put this league in the race events board.

That sounds like a great idea it would add a bit more competition and would be a good gauge of how you're doing as a driver. Sadly I don't think there are enough crew members on the forums, or at least members that view it regularly for it to work effectively. I'll happily be proven wrong though.

Since we need to discern who's ranked who why not do it the same way NoDo's crwe boss tests cars?
Set a lap time, same car, same track, stock, list it all and there we go, instant comparison list

I didn't say anything like that, just group people together around certain lap times is what I was implying

The way I got better at racing was watching Broughy's Racing School videos on YouTube. Know the best path to the racing line, when to brake versus when to let off the gas, etc. It doesn't happen overnight. It takes time, patience, and tenacity to perfect your craft. And I'm always beat by other people as well. Some of the best racers on the PS3 side that I've been honored to race with (in just my personal opinion) are Lupacia💕, double_s92, ♛ZeNzI23, MrMister, nfsshadow and dylansmaul. No offense to anyone else (and I mean no disrespect or whatnot by not mentioning everyone I race with), you're all terrific people and tremendous racers. But these guys have truly perfected their craft. My hat goes off to them. I try to watch them as I'm eating their dust to see how exactly they do it. And again, it just comes down to putting in the effort. Overall, the most important thing? Just have fun :-) That's what it's all about. We're all in the same boat here (Classics from the yacht! Los Santos Rock Radio!). I know that I'll beat these guys maybe three times in a month and I'm good with that. Finally, see one of my favorite speeches below. Just apply it toward racing.

Btw you left out Chris, Doodle and Shred, these people are some of the other faster racers I've raced against.

When I joined this crew I had similar ideas. But when I got to know some people I realized this crew isn't about racing, it's just a small part of it. This crew is about having a great time with friends online, doing random stuff, just enjoying gtao together. And racing is something that everybody likes to do, even when someone isn't great at racing. Everybody will help you improving your race craft. I will always remember this crew for its social, friendly, great members that just have a passion for racing.
