FIA MEETS IN LIBERTY CITY TO DISCUSS SATCC REGULATIONS
Algonquin, Liberty City - Representatives of the FIA, including president John Todd, met with organisers of the San Andreas Touring Car Championship to discuss concerns raised by the teams over changes to the racing format.
Included in meeting were team principals of Progen, Be Lucky, TerrOIL and Invetero-Augury Racing.
It is not clear yet what has been discussed but a source close to the meeting said the teams wanted to avoid randomised grids and proposed allowing drivers to drop 2 of their worst results in the championship.
"The drivers fear if they miss a weekend because they brake a leg trailbiking down Mt Chiliad or get the clap from one of the many painted tarts strolling Los Santos streets, they are out of contention - sometimes losing 50pts on a rival" the source said.
The qualifying changes are still being hotly debated. The FIA reintroduced randomised grids, with a difference, to facilitate faster racing however the teams agreed that the qualifying format used in Season 3 is a "time consuming pain in the [backside]".
The source confirmed a compromise model is being mooted but no word yet on what that will mean.
In other news, the FIA, the Strategy Group and the organisers all voted to expand the grid to 28 entrants for Season 4 after Estonian driver Superstepa - a race winning veteran - woke up after a 1 week sleep. He had apparently been on a 2 week non-stop bender before passing out for a third week, missing initial signups.
Reports from the paddock suggest that the grid was already likely to be expanded and Russian driver Divait offered the final seat on the grid. The understanding is that the incredibly corrupt powers that be accepted money from Stepa's sponsors at Pro-Laps to get the Estonian a race seat for Season 4.
The organisers and FIA denied this firmly, before returning to their game of tennis.

Well I wanted to join for the Furore, if Superstepa_ really wants another car I might consider giving my spot to another person I would like to see a Furore there, too. I really would. Love the look of the car.
But you guys should chat via PM. It's Stepa. He'll win in a Furore just to prove you can win in a Furore.

Although i'm not part of strategy group, here's my take on qualifying/grid again: I love qualifyings. Especially if you only have 1 or 2 hotlaps. While i was fine with it and even wished for a qualifying for both tracks of a raceday, I can understand that some people got annoyed waiting while the results were being figured out though so i don't really mind the adjusted randomized grid. I mentioned this idea in the invitation pm already, i think it'd be nice and quick to pick a day for a quick playlist including all tracks where we do 1 hotlap qualifyings on them one after another and have all grids sorted out like this in just this playlist. Did this for the first 4 tracks in lemans, i think it worked well, i just didnt like how the grid was sorted after the first 4 races there. I see this has flaws too though so again, i don't really midn the adjusted randomized grid. Maybe we could do quick qualifyings for race 1 and 2 though, instead of going fully randomized there..

Wait, can I be put down as a reserve just in case there's a chance I have the day off, and also there's a race which someone can't make?

So, Divait , I need to apologise publicly. Had Stepa not shown up you'd have a seat with jsantospt - it would have been a condition of the Furore team being approved. Stepa, however, did come back to us and he's a veteran of all previous seasons. He needs to be here which is why I tagged him a few times in the past 8 pages. Divait , you'll be top reserve which is a shitty consolation prize. I'm apologising publicly so you know I mean it. It's not fair but the issue with hosting an event is you have to do what's right for the whole event and that means sometimes saying no to people. Speaking honestly and seriously, I am totally okay with that and I understand your position, don't worry about it, mate, I am okay to be the number 1 reserve in this. P.S. I catch you up on the word! {Spoiler} Bitter truth

The thing is, SATCC is not like Le Mans or Grotti F1. Intentionally.
The random grid was designed to give everyone variety in starting positions and to ensure people got time at the thin end of the wedge, i.e. the front.
The criticisms were:
* The top guys often didn't get to battle, and * There are some people who, if put on pole, didn't respond well to the pressure of leading 23 cars through the first few turns.
Qualifying was introduced but I hated it. Firstly; it basically did what we know, which is to filter people like Doom, Darn, Ovivo, Stepa etc to the front. Secondly, it disrupted everything as we (well, I) tabulated all the results and sorted them into a grid.
So the compromise was to take the top 10 from the second race of the weekend and use them as the top 10 for the next grid. Let's say it's Ovivo, Iceman, Darn, Stepa, Doom, Story, Cloud, Grim, Saber, Smithy. They'd be randomised as would the rest of the grid, and the results added together as a combined grid.
This would mean people who might usually finish in P21 (maybe their sultan is underpowered? have a shot at starting in P11 and that may, depending on the circuit, give them a chance to score points. This is arcade racing, so random factors like tyre wear don't come into it. You need a little deus ex machina.
This is what you see in Post 1.
The approach being counter-proposed by Ovivo is being debated by strategy group. It aligns to the broad intent of the SATCC, so you can infer it's not qualifying. But, I think ahead of a decision, it would be premature to announce it in case it sends the opinion it's up for debate or additional suggestions are being sourced.
It'll be either mine or Ovivo's proposals that are agreed to.

I vote I start on pole every race and get to go on the time instead of a sticky.
Also I should be able to disregard safety cars. Safety? What a load of BS.

For some reason, in my mind, you going on time instead of the sticky = safety car...

to a yacht party? I mean. I guess? If you can find space on the deck to drop them from a cargobob? Can't promise they won't end up in the sea, or blown up, or both (aka I can promise Doom will fuck them up) We've done it before lol. You can find the images as links below the big picture in my first post here. It was not a serious question more a comical mention of the effort it took to not damage the cars in transit and drop off. Lets just say it was "time well spent" and not ask to many questions... NEVER AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN.
