Either way, the problem isn't the dripfed content anyway. It's the offline mods being made obsolete by the decision of a multi-billion video games publisher even though part of those millions have been made thanks to GTA V PC sales, which were good because of the possibility to mod the game. Talk about being thankful to the community keeping the game alive.
Anyway. Nerd³ analyzing Rockstar's statement:

It's all about risk vs reward. What can a company get away with to generate maximum profit for shareholders. Sometimes they cross the line and suffer public backlash. Maybe they didn't risk-assess properly. Or maybe they did? They might have foreseen this and decided that they could withstand it at the promise of future economic gain.

Also there is the question if they care more about overall exposure than good exposure. While I think this isn't helping them much the whole situation brought a spotlight on Take2 and GTA.

So the single-player-only version of Menyoo has also been taken down. Another example for a mod that's clearly not a problem for multiplayer.

I mean, with scripthook possibly done for (Alex Blade was part of the OpenIV team and has been totally silent following the C&D) most trainers are dead now. Still, Menyoo didn't deserve this, especially with n***er menu still around

Edit: I just googled it, didn't believe that'd be the real name. I kinda expect it to be taken down soon. And that thing doesn't seem to have many options that aren't for griefing and money dropping.

I've been off this forum for quite a long time but I saw the news regarding about the mod situation when it first came out.
What in the hell Take-Two? Did Take-Two just forgot mods were what helped GTA sell well? I could understand if they were to go after the mod menus that were for online but taking down offline mods *one of the main reasons to get a gaming pc* is a huge no no.
We can't do anything about it aside from pulling the microtransactions card on Take-Two for doing such shady moves and I also didn't like it when they tried patching almost all of the glitches to getting into solo public lobbies so people can do CEO work. But of course since this is Take-Two we're talking about, they'll do anything to milk the game especially when the CEO of T2 said he wants to see more of these microtransactions added into their future titles.
Maybe if we protest enough, we could see a change but we don't know.

So T2 openly admitted they were utterly dumb and lied about OpenIV allowing "malicious mods online". Gg bunch of idiots.

Muhahaha, these funny moments when someone who thinks of himself as too smart at a holding partner company decides something only to then be confronted with the full wrath of the people at the daughterother company who really do the work and know what an utterly stupid move it is. Priceless.

You know R* and Take2 are equal partners? And from what I've heared R* handles legal decisions over Take2's lawyers, so it may have just been a pr move to prevent R* from getting under fire too much, which makes sense since people associate them much more with GTA than Take2. The marching order may still have come from R*.

Still quite likely that someone there was "a bit" out of touch. Rockstar always has supported mods on every GTA game, I see no reason as of why they would be the ones who started this entire thing. It makes much more sense that T2 was at the start of all this, considering they are completely oblivious of what games they're publishing and what people do on them.
