People should be able to choose their own setup. Setups give the biggest advantage in laptime for hotlapping, where you can already gain up to around half a seconds per 1-minute-laptime by only changing the wheels. However for normal racing it mostly gives you consistency and a small bit off laptime. Locking it to a certain setup isn't leveling the playing field. It's the exact opposite. You give some people a disadvantage which makes their laptime slower, but more importantly it makes it more difficult for them not to choke. Locking the setup to level the playing field is the same as letting everyone on PC play on keyboard to make everything equal. Btw with some help from CHILLI's document it's not that difficult to find an atleast decent setup for a car.

I think there has been enough setups talk..... 7 pages is enough. Nope. Discussion is open until the final rules are out. After that there will be limits on how much "pls change this" posts are allowed.

I understand, my point was more - Doom noted differences in seconds, and that's why. He's not being unreasonable. Well, on a select few cars I might believe that. On the majority of cars you will never get seconds out of a setup. Even then it's all down to preference. I could take the X80 for example. I have two set ups, A and B. In my hands A is 1.5 seconds per lap faster than B. In your hands, B might be 1.5 seconds faster than A. Is it fair to then lock the set up to A or B? No - the fairest solution is to allow us to pick whichever one best suits our style.

Thanks everyone for the good discussion on this and I left it open for this very reason. I'm taking everything into account and with this being such a hot topic I'll attempt to get a decision made on this early.
I'll also get some other questions answered, but it will all be tomorrow now.
Quick note, over 100 sign ups in a few hours. Didn't expect that. Regardless of how the rules turn out to be shaped I hope everyone will at least enjoy a good natured championship as it has started in this thread.

It seems as if you dont feel like shit right now, what is wrong? arent we supposed to have this thread locked right now from pointless arguements? Jk, good to see you survived the first day without having to rethink your life choices And good to see we kept it professional enough unlike last year

In my opinion, set ups should be open except for tires, with offroads (and I guess lowriders because dollar rims) banned.
Yeah okay, I guess if you cant adapt to a locked car set up, that sucks for you, but GTA at least gives us the option to work with the car. And we have two weeks between races. Even I can find time in two weeks to tweak my car. If you're complaining that you dont want to spend that time just hotlapping, then you shouldnt be in the event, due to lack of time or lack of commitment (to car customization and fine tuning. You also have the option to just leave it how it is, it'll still drive. Letting us do set ups will only benefit those who want to change how their car handles.
It does make sense that since each GT is a single make and model, it makes sense to have the same spec, but GTA is a little more dynamic then that, and I personally think we should be allowed to do it.
Also, I approve heavily on having mandatory pit stops this time around, always wondered why we didnt have that :seemsgood:

in my opinion i think that doom was right because to find a good setup you need to spend lot of time trying everything on the cars , but we have a life mate and there is a lot of events going on so this will not be the only event that we're gonna be attending , too many championship , so i guess a setup for everyone that what determine a good player from another
