I'd just like to weigh in on the setup debate, personally I really don't see why it should be banned, first off, it will just cause more issues with more rules, and although rules are necessary, they shouldn't be put in place just because. There might be a common misconception that setups are OP, and although I cannot speak for XB1 and PC, they are not overpowered on PS4. A setup will barely gain you time, it is more about finding something that suits your driving style, and lets you be more consistent. A good driver can do perfectly well without bothering with setups, and a bad driver that puts hours into setups will still not be great. This championship is all about commitment, and putting in a little time to find a proper setup just adds to that, I feel.
Although setups on GTA might sound like witchcraft, the stuff that makes the most difference is quite simple actually. If you happen to be on the NoDo Slack I am sure you can ask for help, I will gladly share any knowledge I know about setups and I am sure others will too. There you have my two cents, hope you all have a great day.

I signed up, hoping to get into Season 4 again here (as a GT2 this time). Do you... only participate in MCEC? i'm going to get my revenge, you'll see! Lol I'm on GTA still, just usually pretty late at night (9pm-12am CST range) because of my work schedule (I don't get off work until 7pm CST everyday). But I'm available on weekends to do MCEC, if I get picked. Are you also signing up for GT2 this time? Hoping to have a good fight this season all the way through the pack, since I probably shouldn't have been in GT3 for season 3, looking back.

Gained lots of confidence that I can do well if I try and practice a bit. Got a win from slow sedans aswell! Don't have a good idea how far my skill is though. Need to prove myself... to myself mostly. I need to see what I can do.

"The mark of a great driver isn't that they're fast, its that they can adapt to the situation and still prevail. If you end up not being able to do that with a locked setup, you may need to reevaluate how well you think you're doing."
I recently changed up my driving style and am competiting for podiums in events now. Setup was not a huge part of it, but it helps. I can twist this, if you can't find and adapt a custom setup to fit your driving, then maybe you need to reevaluate your ability to critically think about your driving and how your style fits into different cars.
One of the big reasons cited here as well is lack of time to prepare setups. Ok, sure, PersonA has 3 hours to practice, PersonB has 6 hours, and PersonC has 0 hours. If we don't subtract setup removal time from that practice, PersonB still has more time to practice and perfect the single setup, and PersonC is screwed either way and shouldn't have signed up, or just has to suck it up. PersonA didnt really gain anything, PersonB still has more practice time. Even while testing setups you are still learning the basics of the track and car, the fine tuning of setups can happen during that time. Its not mutually exclusive.

Hype is real. Sadly can't do every Saturday, so I hope there will be a secondary championship that will be on a different day.

As far as setups go, the only restriction that I'd like to see is offroad tyres being banned. Simple and selfish reason: I just can't stand them on anything that isn't a proper offroad vehicle. I'd personally restrict it to tuners tyres only. A driver should be free to choose which tyres he wants to use within this category. (Finetuning/Driving style/etc... like mentioned above) Apart from that I'd prefer no further restrictions.

I've never seen worse shitstorm than this. Not every comment but some people need to learn how to respect someones opinion even if you don't like it. Not go and attack him with an aggressive tone that causes issues. This thread hasn't even been up for a day or so and people are already arguing over an event they are not even hosting. You can leave your suggestions but it doesn't mean that others have to judge it in such harsh way. Just relax, and communicate in peace please. Broughy is just gonna have hard time reading through this, looking for suggestions or improvements for his event..
If you want to delete this comment, go ahead, but im just stating something that should be obvious by now. Thanks.

Well, you guys watch F1 I assume? And maybe MotoGP as well? Do you really think that they all have the same Setup? No, they don't. They fine tune things for them personally. Different tyres etc. That is a big part of racing, just saying. It is not even about getting better lap times to me when it comes to GTA...but driving a car that is tuned how I like it delivers even more enjoyment when racing and battling as mentioned earlier. And also as mentioned earlier, if I am selected, I am still gonna race regardless of the outcome of this discussion. That's a fair point. But just like in every other video game, reality is not something to put above everything else. By that logic we could say that 1 big crash = DSQ just like in real f1. You can't really compare those two or? Like, where do you draw the line between a big crash and small crash? How would you define a big crash? How many cars involved? How severely damaged has the car to be? Etc. Setups is way more simple. Just enable them and everyone can do what they want, not just in terms of performance but also visuals. Why would you force someone/some people to put a bumper on their car which looks absolutely disgusting to them? Also, a leveled playing field is a pretty lose well ''definition'' (couldn't think of a better word sorry) in my opinion. What do you consider as leveled/equal? Everyone having to use the exact same mods? (Which is a pain in the ass to check and the locked setup might suit some a lot better than others) Or everyone having the freedom to do whatever they want with their cars? (You could say some can test more setups than others for that choice...but often/usually you'll find a good setup while practicing for the race in general) Halfway decently structured essay finished....I feel like I am in school again lol

Going to sign up although i doubt I can make it on saturdays unless it's not really late like 10pm utc. (which would be better for our americans probably btw ) Hosts fault for not posting at what time the races will happen but i'll take a warning if i can't make it. About the setup discussion: I don't really feel like spending hours to find the right setups either but i understand that some people want to do that. I think a good compromise would be specifying a certain tyre that needs to be used or just limit it to one tyreclass.

As I said already, theres nothing over the line yet here, people are excited and discussing things. The only thing so far was merhpos's posts which i already addressed. Stop trying to create drama out of nothing.
