We have developed an amazing racing community. There is no doubt about that. However there has been one issue that has persisted among our clean racing ranks for some time now. That issue is the lack of race craft knowledge. We are all guilty of making mistakes that cause harm to other racers on the track, and I am no exception. I think it is a good time to discuss the finer points of a racers ability, and that means dealing with other cars while staying competitive and respectful. Anybody can post questions. I will be posting scenarios, and asking you how you would react in the drivers seat. This thread is ment to improve all of our abilities by having an idea of strategical readiness for when you enter a race. I yield and try to make a pass later so we both dont wreck. I see what you are getting at though, most people dont seem to want to yield and a lot of people have been doing that for a long time.

For me its knowing the driver. If it was haydug. Id brake earlier and wider. And try and cut back on him. If it was twilicane id lean on him and hold it round the outside. Knowing your fellow drivers is unparalleled in racecraft. If you are against randoms then the safe bet is to take the cautious route (as referenced by broughy in one of his videos). Racecraft is as important as being balistically fast. If you cover your lines correctly and drive snart you can beat someone who is seconds a lap faster than you. Same thing as Sean, brake and cut under. Unless I think that person is especially slow in which case I would try to hold the outside. Wonder where we learned that, Sean?

I just want to add there are no wrong answers here, because this is ment to be a discussion not a test. However we are talking about cars not bikes. Car A and B cannot occupy zone A at the same time. The video you posted is a great pass, but it happened because the inside bike did not defend the inside. In that situation capitalizing on that mistake was a good move, but in my scenario car A is defending the inside.

As long as you dont take people out while doing that then its ok. Its when people refuse to accept that they lost the battle for the apex and just run into you instead or clip your back end just enough to spin you and then they drive through you that accidents start happening. I know thats what shes talking about because I witnessed the crash that provoked her to make this post.

3 possible scenarios in my opinion.
1. Car A takes the corner like normal, in the apex and defending his line. I in car B wouldn't force anything and try to pass later. 2. Car A brakes to late, trying to defend his line -> car A will go to much to the outside, I would brake a little earlier and try to cut trough. 3. Car A brakes to early, I would just try to go around with more speed. But this is rarely done.

But there is already a thread about racing etiquettes and techniques. nodo.freeforums.net/thread/146/racing-etiquette-techniquesMaybe post the tips and tricks in that thread that are found during these lessons, I or one of the other Moderators will put it in the original post. And hold this thread specially to teach crew members the finer racing lines? That way we've got 2 good threads that don't overlap each other

I'd just let him pass. He is in the inside and will likely go wide on the exit seeing as he's going in at an angle more sharp than usual, so its best if I avoid the crash and let him go.

I believe it's a matter of seeing which route the opposing racer is going to make. If they turn too wide and leave a gap open, you have the chance to quickly accelerate and occupy that gap. If they make the turn correctly and block your path, you'll be forced to brake to avoid contact. Slamming into the opposing racers rear end needs to be avoided so you do not cause them to lose control of their vehicle.
