Broughcar proudly presents…
Date & time: July 16th 5:45pm UTC
Job: Xero Speedway v4
Vehicle: Bravado Gauntlet
Customs: On
Laps: 69 (x3 = 207)
Time of Day: Noon
Weather: Clear
Race distance: 100 km
Race duration: Approximately 50 minutes
Overview: Boogity! Boogity! Boogity! Let’s go racing boys! Oval racing returns to Los Santos in the next installment from sanctioning body Broughcar. This time, Broughcar revisits the half-kilometer bullring from the Redwood Cup, Xero Speedway. The track has changed since last time; the straightaways have been lengthened, and the track surface has worn down from age, transforming a previously one-groove track into a multi-groove one, challenging drivers to leave no part of the track undriven if they want to make the winning pass into victory lane.
Track walkthrough:
Rules and Regulations
A word from the sanctioning body: We have noted feedback from the Broughcar Redwood Cup and the NOSCAR Senora 200 Mile events and have taken measures to simplify and streamline the event procedure, hold it at a better time for potential participants, and also avoid conflicts with other events. Additionally, as a cost-cutting measure, we have opted to mandate the use of the cheap but powerful Bravado Gauntlet for this race.
We ask that participants show up 30 minutes early to the designated meetup area (and on Teamspeak) and cooperate with the directives given by race control to ensure the event concludes within 75 minutes of the intended start time.
Race control: The rules and regulations put forth in the following paragraphs shall be enforced by race control. Race control consists of the event organizers (BIGGamerer, FriendlyBaron, Prutoog, and the non-driver participants).
Starting Grid: The start grid will be set randomly among participants who are signed up at least 48 hours prior to the start of the race. Track creator BIGGamerer will take a 5-place grid penalty, applied immediately after the grid is randomized. Participants who sign up after the gridding procedure will be placed behind gridded participants based on sign-up order.

Start Procedure: Per standard NASCAR procedure, the start of the race will be a double-file rolling start led by a safety car. The pole-sitter may choose whether to start on the outside line or the inside line. Following a declaration by race control the safety car will pull into the pits. The race begins when participants cross the start/finish line, at which point they may overtake.
Racing rules: This event uses standard NODO rules. Participants who are waiting as the result of an on-track incident should take care to not impede the progress of other racers.
FPS Rule: Participants are expected to cap their FPS at 60. If necessary, race control may take action to enforce this rule.
Vehicle Mod restrictions: No offroad tires or neons.
Pitting: This race will have 3 mandatory pit stops. Participants may enter and exit the pit lane as fast as they can under normal race circumstances. Participants that pit under safety car must rejoin the track behind any car that chooses not to pit. (The pit watcher, if available, will ensure you are released in the correct position during safety car.)
Pit stops taken while the pits are closed do not count as mandatory pits. The pits are closed during a safety car period until race control re-opens them, and they are always closed under red flag conditions*.
Participants may only pit once per safety car period. Extra pits taken during a safety car period don’t count towards the mandatory pit requirement. Participants that use the wave-around may not pit until after the ensuing restart (See Wave-around rule)^. Participants may not pit on the first lap.
In the absence of a pit watcher, participants should call out their mandatory pits.
*If a participant pits under normal racing conditions, and the safety car is deployed while they are in the pits, that pit stop counts as a mandatory pit, and the participant may rejoin the track as soon as they can.
^To clarify: If a participant pits or takes the wave-around during a safety car period, the next time they may take a mandatory pit stop is after they cross the line for the ensuing restart.
Safety car: The safety car may be deployed for any of the following reasons:
-Any incident involving 3 or more cars
-Any incident where a participant must reset their car.
-Any incident where an unoccupied car/prop/object/etc is in a dangerous location/is creating an unsafe racing environment.
Only non-driver participants (safety car driver, pit-watcher, race officials) have the authority to deploy the safety car. Following the deployment of the safety car, cars should slow down and line up single file behind the leader. No overtaking is allowed*. Remember that the pits are closed until race control re-opens them.
The race may end under safety car if the safety car is active or called very late in the race. Race control will do its best to ensure the race ends under normal racing conditions.
In the absence of a safety car driver, a virtual safety car will be used.
*Participants may freely overtake cars that have yet to recover from a crash. Race control has the final say on the legality of any overtake performed under safety car, and may reorder cars as deemed necessary.
Restarts: Race control will give the “1 to go” signal during a safety car period to inform participants that a restart will happen the next time they cross the start/finish line. Following this signal and the procedure below, the safety car will be pulled off the track, and participants may overtake once they cross the start/finish line. Restarts are single-file, and the leader is always first in line on the restart until overtaking is permitted*.
Immediately following declaration of the “1 to go” signal, the following procedure applies:
1. Participants assessed a penalty to restart at the end of the line must drop to the back of the line before the restart. (See Penalties.)
2. (Wave-around rule) Participants who are “in front of” the leader of the race during the safety car may drive up to the back of the line before the restart (so the leader is always first in line on restarts). Participants that use the wave-around may NOT pit until after they cross the line for the ensuing restart.
3. If more than 90% of the race distance has been completed lead lap cars must restart first (Lapped cars must drop to the back. Lead lap cars will be directed by race control to line up in the appropriate spot based on their current position.) Lapped cars may use the wave-around instead of dropping to the back if they can^. This procedure allows lead lap cars to battle it out towards the end of the race without being held up by backmarkers.
Race control may wave off the restart until the next lap if the field is not properly lined up.
*Unusual circumstances may arise where participants in their best judgement of fairness overtake before the line (say the car in front crashes to a halt on the outside barrier on the second u-turn coming to the restart.) Race control has the final say on the legality of any overtake before the line.
^Cars that take the wave around after 90% of the race distance is completed and end up back on the lead lap do not restart directly behind the other lead lap cars. They restart at the end of the line.
Blue flag: Lapped cars are expected to let the leaders by if they are being lapped but are not obliged to do so unless the blue flag is displayed. The blue flag applies to participants who are being lapped after the leader has completed 90% of the race distance. Participants may be penalized for failing to obey the blue flag.
Red flag: At race control’s discretion, the red flag may be issued. Under a red flag, the leader must stop where they are. No overtaking is permitted. Red flags may be issued late in the race to ensure a possibility that the race finishes under normal racing conditions, or after numerous safety car incidents/a major safety car incident/many laps run under safety car to prevent too much of the race from being run under safety car conditions.
Penalties/Disqualifications: Penalties may be assessed for cars that fail to adhere to racing rules and regulations, either during the race or after its conclusion.
The following actions are grounds for receiving a penalty:
-Failing to wait after causing an incident
-Improper callout (Telling another participant to wait when it is clear they are not at fault)
-Failing to obey the blue flag
-Improper deployment of the blue flag
-Failing to take the mandatory number of pit stops
-Pitting while the pits are closed, pitting after taking the wave-around, failing to wait for other participants to pass by after pitting under safety car, unsafe pit entry/exit, or any other violation of pit rules.
-Improper start/restart
-Improper line up during safety car
-Improper resetting (resetting when the car was not in an unrecoverable position)
-Failing to adhere to vehicle mod restrictions
-Wall-riding (lol good luck trying to do that on this track)
-Going off the track (lol good luck trying to do this)*
Penalties are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Penalties include but are not limited to:
-Time penalties
-Restart at the end of the line
-Being held on pit road
-Pass-through penalties (Take an extra pit)
The following actions are grounds for being disqualified:
-Attempting to manipulate the outcome of the race by intentionally crashing to bring out the safety car/sandbagging/improper deployment of the safety car with intent to manipulate outcome of race/etc.
-Intentionally ramming/wrecking another competitor
-Repeatedly causing on-track incidents, especially if they result in the deployment of the safety car (being a nuisance)
Participants who are disqualified will be excluded from classification in the final results. At race control’s discretion, they may be referred to a commissioner for further disciplinary action.
*To be adopted at the discretion of general consensus in the lobby.
Post-Race Investigations
Participants may request an investigation on any on-track incident by race control the first 24(ish) hours after the conclusion of the race. Event organizers make the final decisions on post-race investigations.
Participation
Signing Up: Participants must be members of NODO and meet event eligibility requirements to sign up.
As per standard NODO fare participants must sign up in teams of 2*. Teams should associate with a sponsor from an in-game company, and a paint scheme consisting of a primary and secondary color of their choice. Teams should take care not to choose similar paint schemes. Sign-ups are limited to 13 teams (26 drivers).
*Participants who wish to join but do not have team details sorted yet may post now to join and arrange for a teammate/team later. Event organizers will assign participants to teams should they not be in teams/sign up within 24 hours of the start of the event.
Reserves: Participants may sign up as reserves if the main sign-ups list becomes full. Teams may freely source their reserves until 24 hours before the event start, at which point race control assumes the role of allocating reserves to empty spots. When allocating reserves to empty seats, race control will assign them on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Borrowing Cars: Participants may borrow cars if necessary for the event. Participants who borrow cars must start at the back*. Race control will act in its best efforts to prevent borrowers from a losing a significant amount of on-track time should they lose their car during the race.
*Participants who are unable to get full vehicle upgrades because of level restrictions do not have to start at the back.
Non-Driver Participants: NODO members who wish to be a part of the event but not as a driver may sign up for a non-driver role. Non-driver participants are the only participants who have the authority deploy the safety car and as members of race control have the authority to issue call-outs/penalties and request post-race investigations.
Safety Car Driver (1 maximum)
The safety car driver is responsible for driving the safety car when deployed. If the safety car driver is not driving the safety car they should act as a race official (see race official section). It is preferred but not demanded that the safety car driver stream or record the race from their perspective.
Pit Watcher (1 maximum)
The pit watcher is responsible for keeping track of the pit stops taken by participants and enforcing pit road rules (issuing penalties for pit road violations, ensuring everyone takes their mandatory pits, etc.). It is preferred but not demanded that the pit watcher record the race from their perspective so that race control can easily verify that all participants have taken the required number of pit stops during the race.
Race official (2 maximum)
Race officials are additional non-driver participants who help to enforce the rules. They watch the track and ensure people are abiding by the rules, and issue call-outs/penalties if they do not abide by them. They may also issue the blue flag to participants as deemed necessary. It is preferred but not demanded that race officials stream or record the race from their perspective so that race control has sufficient video evidence to conduct investigations on racing incidents as deemed necessary.
If the pit watcher or safety car driver disconnects during a race, a race official, if possible, should replace their spot.
