Okay Rant Inbound So Brace Yourselves.
Kerb boosting, is a sensitive subject within every racing crew at the moment. Some are using gentlemans agreements to not use it ( unpoliceable and frankly silly) and some are simply creating tracks trying to limit the kerb you can use ( seems like a waste of props). I want to explain a thing or two about this to inform people who don't know and hopefully correct some peoples misconceptions.
Firstly. We call it kerb or curb depending on where you are, is the effect of increasing a cars acceleration by bumping a kerb with 2 or 4 wheels. This is obviously a huge advantage in races and hotlaps and is undeniably something we didn't expect or didn't really want in the game.
What some don't realise is that this effect is also achieved from ANY kind of bump in the road as the effect is tied into the suspension travel of the car. You will all have experienced this ( best example is the road past the horse racing track towards Mirror Park, a huge boost is given every time over those bumps no matter which way you travel. So the effect will always be present no matter how many boosts you block off).
Secondly. In my experience this boosting effect causes a lot less problems than badly placed props so which is the lesser of evils? Rewind to a few months ago and people were knocking poles down left right and center and the boosting effect has been tarnished by this.
More poles are knocked down nowadays by attempting pole cuts than attempting boosts. Lsgp right handed corner before the tunnel crossover + first corner are prime examples of this. But still somehow the reputation of the boost is lower than some 12 year old running a chrome adder with dollar sign wheels. why ?
Most importantly. This effect is a part of the game. This seems trivial but is actually the most important fact. It is a thing so all the top level racers will be using it at EVERY given opportunity. Every single hotlap that hits the top of our leader-boards is kerb boosted to absolute hell. Anyone who says otherwise is a total liar. Without kerb boosts we would not be anywhere near 1.33 on LSGP and Crazy would never be at 50.3 on cutting coroners.
This effect is part of the meta of the game now and those who aren't utilising it are losing out hugely and those who can't figure it out are trying to stop it. My main point being that instead of blocking off everything that our prop limit will allow use your props to block off silly pole cuts and immovable objects, not remove something from the game that you simply cant get a handle on. Virtually everybody in this crew now uses offroad tyres thanks to me CrazyMan2626267 and Trowa (and we havent told you the half of it yet ). Are we implementing rules for no offroad tyres ? No we aren't because as racers we are utilising all of our advantages. So blocking another advantage to me seems like a huge double standard.
Please do not comment on this thread to bitch and moan about this effect. We know its silly but this thread isn't about why its here and why its not been removed.
