i tried now rivatuner, it "feels" better in case of performance @60fps, but unfortunately i couldn't get rid of that annoying screen tearing so i had to switch back to nvidia vsync.

What Hz monitor do you have? I get the same tearing right now (have just been dealing with it for the past month or so), but apparently 144hz monitors fix that tearing.

60hz screens will get abysmal tearing when locked to 60 via rivatunner. Can confirm that 144hz monitor makes it less noticeable.

Lets thorw more data in:
My ingame Vsync seems to work at exactly 60fps, sometimes it reaches 61, but only for short. Wattman instead of vsync makes the screen go screen tearing but it also feels a little more accurate.
60fps with ingame vsync sounds good, looks good, its my way of playing. but i get those fps dips down to 55-57 and rarely it just drops to a 47 for a moment. i wonder if i should fiddle around with the graphic settings or just improve my cpu cooling and release the beast inside. But those fps dips are not garantueed to occur in every same stressful situation, so i think its software related.
I would like to have both: tearless & lagfree. But thats not how Vsync works, right?

Anyone that can help my out and point me into a good direction? I've tried Dxtory but its only a free trial I had RivaTuner up and running one time on GTA, after a restart it kept crashing on the Policelights right when you start it up.. And damn Nvidia panel thingy doesnt let me cap it at 60, no matter what option i put it on (adaptive, Adaptive half, fast, on) So i gotta resort to ingame Vsync while doing events... Are you using Overwolf, because apperently my issue is caused by running Overwolf and RivaTuner at the same time. Btw if there's someone who knows how to fix this, I would be so happy.

Yes im running overwolf, i had the same idea because the moment overwolf activates (during the policecop lights) it crashes.
For some reason i do have it fixed now, running OW and rivatuner together, dont ask me how though, just fiddled with the settings. But im sure ill run into the same problem some time soon..

for anyone who is struggling with frames, every extra program that also has a ingame overlay will eat some of your frames.
and for everyone using win 10 and struggling havin 60 fps (average)

I fiddled around in rivatuner, turned pretty much everything off except the fps limiter, since the 'overlay' of rivatuner might fuck gta up aswell. Made a screenshot of the settings that worked for me: Edit: Ooops noticed i had it on global and not on the GTA.exe, so the GTA has different settings. The global ones actually made my gta crash jeffreyb1990

If nvidia vsync is working fine, what is the problem? sure, but there is also the little input lag with vsync that kasumi mentioned, wanna get rid of that too. I bought a 144hz monitor without g-sync today. Locking to 60 fps with rivatuner result in some tearing, unplayable for me. (This would probably workout good with g-sync) Using vsync in nvidia control panel and selecting 60hz in game was better, but still not as good as 60 fps on my old 60hz monitor. A 144hz monitor is meant to be played with higher fps. I tried locking to 100 fps and at the times I got 100 fps stable it was the best experience I've ever had in GTAV. Problem is that we have to use 60. You would have to get a high end monitor with g-sync to be able to have a good experience on 60 fps.

Can confirm that G-sync with no V-sync & locked fps is a dream to use (my monitor is currently overclocked to 180hz).
